Who Gives Kudos:

July 1, 2008 - Tuesday

I think it is a wonderful thing if a person makes the choice to not eat meat. I would never think to rip on or make fun of a person who makes this choice for themselves. So, why are they always up MY ass? I am a midwest girl who loves her BBQ. I FORCE myself to eat veggies because I HATE them, so being a vegan is out of the cards for me. However, vegetarians always seem to pull the almighty card with me and get in my face about eating meat. I was at a photo shoot once, quietly reflecting during my break and eating a burger. My makeup artist for the day proceeded to walk up to me and ream me asbout eating meat the entire time I ate!

Call me crazy, but you would think that if a person wanted you to understand their cause, they would be KIND to you..informative, etc. Nope, I have never got that from a vegan. I always get the nut jobs. It almost reminds me of terrorists! This is one of the many reasons I cannot support PETA. I am not into Fear tactics. I do not believe it makes you or your cause any better, in fact, it turns most people off from even wanting to listen to you. Recently it has been going around that the beautiful Pam Anderson ripped into Jessica Simpson for wearing "Real girls eat Meat" shirt. She called her a BITCH and a WHORE. Now I love Pam, but if she wanted to help bring Jessica to "the other side" perhaps she should have showed some grace and offered some useful knowledge to Jessica instead? There is nothing that upsets me more than when two women I have spent years drooling over are at arms. I think they should have sex and make up....in front of me.

Anyway, why does this happen? Why do people who would probably want more people to JOIN thir cause proceed in pushing people away with their rants? Again, I respect people who make the decision to not eat meat. I can't do it. The watery stinky poop was enough to turn me off from it after only trying it for 2 weeks. I bruised everywhere, and did NOT look healthy. That's me. Kudos to those who can do it, though. Why do I get torn apart for making the choice to eat meat? I love animals too, and because I do, I also respect Mother Natrure and the food chain. Since the dawn of man we have hunted and gathered. It has been PROVEN that societies in the past who had a meat based diet (less carbs, veggies) had BETTER teeth. Carbs and veggies actually cause decay! There are great arguements to both sides, but I am not hear to argue. I am hear asking one question.....If you want someone to believe what you do and follow your lead...why would you beat them up first? It makes people unsympathetic to your cause.

What are your thoughts, guys?

I agree on fish and seafood but don't eat pork, chicken or beef- you still need some meat for the protein. And I love albacore tuna, tastes great on sandwich bread.

in addition to the "God wants us to eat meat cause it tastes good", if you read your bible it talks about the unclean animals--which God gave us to eat, and not cherish :P

well, how the hell would you feel if you sat down to a salad while the person next to you sat down to a juicy steak? c'mon, think about the aroma alone... the steak smells so tantalizing and what does the salad smell like... nuthin. and then, what do cows eat? grass. what does vegetables eat? fertalizer. urgg. no wonder they're so damn cranky.

what do you call a vegetarian with diaharrea? a salad shooter! *g*

whatever... i'm never bored.

Love your blog about this subject, you made some great valid points and tweaked it with some humor. I do agree with what Budgie stated, but it tastes so GOOD, I could never be a Vegan either, I myself need that protein...LOL! But to all who are Vegan I give you props, but don't bash me cause I love my meat! And I do eat my veggies as well!

Amen! the bloodier the better. I could NEVER be a vegan...you ever tasted a soy burger? oh lord! I would rather lick the inside of a toilet bowl then taste another soy patty. People need to mind their own business...it's your life and your choice.

Yes, I had my share of a soy burger once, and it was the most awful piece of shit I ever put in my mouth. Just to let you know that I'm myself a vegan so when I was little I used to enjoy carrots and such not to mention down home foods like Collard Greens,Turnips,
Rutabegas,Fried Okra,Mustard Greens,Cabbage, and Sweet Potatoes(yes,I'm from the South and its like that) So,let Adrianne,I also have the taste for some BBQ ever once in a while along with the usual Cornbread,Macaroni and Cheese and Hush Puppies not to mention washing down with some delicious Southern style Iced Tea. Don't get me wrong but I love Brussel Sprouts and Broccoil as a kid and still do.

But as a vegan, eating some greens really does wonders for the digestion system so I eat them everyday. Plus cut back on the main killer--THE SALT. But people will be people no matter what, and they should have whatever they eat as long as it doesn't clog any arteries.

Not all vegetarians are like that. I have been one for 6 years and I do not bother anyone if they eat meat, so don't try to group all of us in one category. I am person of free choice and believe you can eat or not eat what you want, but in every group, there are always the extremeists. In terms of Pam Anderson, I believe she was upset with Jessica's bashing of all vegetarians by implying we aren't real women. While Pam did not take the high roam, technically, Jessica made the first blow. I am not a supporter of PETA. They try to push their beliefs on everyone and go waaay to extreme. Just remember because one vegetarian is crazy, doesn't mean we all are.

I did not "try" to group you all into one category. MY experience with vegans has been 95% of what I just explained. Do you really think jessica Simpson put on that shirt and said "You know what yall? I am fixin to bash me some vegans"! No, she didnt. she probably put it on and said "Damn, this makes my boobs look good, ANMD draws more attention to em!" That is what I would have thought. I wore a a shirt that said "I fucked your girlfriend"....do you really think I meant that i fucked peoples girlfriends, or was I just trying to be cute???

my understanding is that jessica's shirt was a swipe at her beau's ex girlfriend, vegan or vegetarian (don't know about the distinction, could care less, not sorry) carrie underwood.

personally, i think jessica should wear a shirt that says, 'marry me, my daddy won't be a 3rd wheel anymore' 'put a ring on my finger and my daddy will stop trying to be your manager' or something to that effect, but that's just me... ;*

Also (a quick rant), as a vegetarian, I get soooooooo many people who try to make me eat meat and it is just as ANNOYING! They try to shove meat down my throat while I never even asked them to try a veggie burger. It's not fair to either side to have the other group trying to force their ways on the other side. Neither side is directly hurting the other side so I don't see why BOTH sides stop harrassing each other about it and let each other live how they won't. I won't hold a veggie burger in front of her face and try to make you eat it so long as you do the same back to me with steak. You can eat it in front of me. That doesn't bother me at all, just don't try to put it on my plate and try to force me to eat it. Rant finished.

one of the reasons why i LOVE gordon ramsay, of 'hells kitchen' and 'the f word' etc is that he's unapologetically mean to vegans/vegetarians. if they dont know by now that he doesn't particularly give a rip about their lifestyle choice (funny, how it seems as... different... as that other lifestyle choice) and eat at his restaurant he tends to slip meat into their food. only once have i seen him seem sorry that it happened... he forgot to tell a vegan sampler that his food had ham in it.

it's mean, and i would never do it (slip v's meat or be a v), but it's funny to watch.

personally, i kinda get tweaked at the fact that y'alls veggie whopper (order a whopper, hold the meat) costs the same as a regular whopper. if i wasn't getting meat, i'd want a discount. i mean that's what burger king is known for, isn't? flame broiled MEAT? not flame broiled lettuce? whatever...

I'm the same way,as long as the steak was made to perfection...I get the bigger pieces everytime I go out to Golden Corral and I never even asked for it. Wanna see some greedy motherfuckers eat like they don't have any sense? Go down to the Golden Corral sometime and check it out. Or any restaurant for that manner where people eat like animals. I love my veggies but sometimes the flavor just turns my stomach..the same with seafood.

Where do the veggie people think their proteins come from in their veggie? Let me help you here. They get the protein from the feces of animals that break down in the dirt and the absorbs it, vegetables get their proteins from animals waste, so chemically they are animal. These people are so uneducated. You cannot create of destroy energy, it is all recycled. Sorry to slip in here, but I wanted everyone to read this and stop this nonsense.

It's not an issue from where the protein may come from fertilizer. Most of us don't eat because we don't want to actually kill the animal. For most of us, so long as the animal is not killed, we are happy. That does not make us "uneducated" because we chose not to eat me. It just means we are different from you.

Agreed. PETA actually got me into vegertarianism about a year ago. I did the 30 day Veg pledge just to see what it was like and I ended up sticking with it for a good 8 months. Before hand I was a chicken wing girl all the way. I liked the vegetarian lifestyle because my body felt healthier. It was a personal choice and I enjoyed my tofurkey very much while the rest of the table ate their turkey. No one here is pulling the mightier then thou card, why call vegetarians "uneducated"?

She is sweet and hot...but whore is the wrong word for her to use to Jessica...didnt Jessica remain a virgin until marriage? Bad choice of words and bad choice of T-shirt on Jessica's part too. Shit was gonna hit the fan simply because of how high profile she is. Someone was gonna speak out on it even though she has a right to eat what she wants.

I totally agree with you 100%, it's like when someone shoves their religious views down your throat....if you want to get a/your point across doing it negatively is NEVER EVER going to work!!! One of the salons in the mall where I work has (in)famously become known for the fact that the majority of their staff are Vegan, and anyone who is not that works there who comes to work and enjoys their non-vegan lunch gets immediatly ripped apart for it...what's the sense in that?

no no, i mean they are the easiest to supplement in food! all dairy products are high protein if you aren't vegan (i love my cheese way too much), and plus i eat tons of soy products, hummus is super high protein, all beans are high protein...there's so many different kinds of food that are super high in protein!

haha, but i do use a protein supplement sometimes, just because i'm a starving college student and eat like crap at times, and i never really had that problem so i don't know! :)

i think to prove your point with anything you need to have patience and kindness. the same goes with talking to people about faith or religion. you aren't going to convert anyone to anything by screaming at them and telling them what they are doing is wrong. i'm a vegetarian, but i'd never scream at anyone...

i think it's sad that people's passion comes out as anger so much.
