septembre 10, 2008 - mercredi
I opened up my email today and got this from one of my old My fair Brady producers..

"We are writing to you because of the fury and dread we have felt since the announcement of Sarah Palin as the Vice-Presidential candidate for the Republican Party. We believe that this terrible decision has surpassed mere partisanship, and that it is a dangerous farce on the part of a pandering and rudderless Presidential candidate that has a real possibility of becoming  fact.

Perhaps like us, as American women, you share the fear of what Ms. Palin and her professed beliefs and proven record could lead to for ourselves and for our present or future daughters. To date, she is against sex education, birth control, the pro-choice platform, environmental protection, alternative energy development, freedom of speech (as mayor she wanted to ban books and attempted to fire the librarian who stood against her), gun control, the separation of church and state, and polar bears. To say nothing of her complete lack of real preparation to become the second-most-powerful person on the planet.

We want to clarify that we are not against Sarah Palin as a woman, a mother, or, for that matter, a parent of a pregnant teenager, but solely as a rash, incompetent, and all together devastating choice for Vice President. Ms. Palin's political views are in every way a slap in the face to the accomplishments that our mothers and grandmothers and great-grandmothers so fiercely fought for, and that we've so demonstrably benefited from.

First and foremost, Ms. Palin does not represent us. She does not demonstrate or uphold our interests as American women. It is presumed that the inclusion of a woman on the Republican ticket could win over women voters. We want to disagree, publicly.

Therefore, we invite you to reply here
mailto:womensaynopalin@gmail.com with a short, succinct message about why you, as a woman living in this country, do not support this candidate as second-in-command for our nation. Please include your name (last initial is fine), age, and place of residence

We will post your responses on a blog
called "Women Against Sarah Palin," which we intend to publicize as
widely as possible. Please send us your reply at your earliest convenience.

The greater the volume of responses we
receive, the stronger our message will be
Thank you for your time and action.

Sincerely,

Quinn Latimer and Lyra Kilston New York, NY
womensaynopalin@gmail.com

PLEASE FORWARD WIDELY!

If you are voting for McCain and Palin because their views match your own, and their past political records are ok with you..then more power to you! I am just THRILLED you are voting! I encourage you to gather up people as these two have, and make your voice heard on why you don't want Obama, Ron Paul, Nadar, etc in office. I just hope you do it in as classy a way as this letter was. Get INVOLVED!

This is my letter to Women against Palin

I am against this woman ever making it into office. I do not vote for people based on color or gender, but rather, what they stand for and how closely it represents where I am in my life. I do not want a Vice President who is under investigation by her own state for wrongfully terminating her sister's ex brother in law. I do not want a woman in office who wants schools to teach abstinence as the only form of birth control in a world that is full of unwanted babies and children ruining their lives with pregnancy. Can you imagine where her daughter would be with a condom? I don't even want to get on the subject of her teaching the bible version of creation at school ::sigh:: She is pretty, and I like the fact she shoots guns, but that isn't enough for my vote. I do not like the way she keeps saying "thanks but no thanks to that bridge to nowhere" when it has been proven that she APPROVED of it, wanted the money for it, and only said no to is AFTER congress already pulled the operation! She did NOT return the federal funds given to her to build the bridge. My Jewish husband and I don't like the fact that her church allows people to proclaim Jews are being punished daily for not believing in Jesus, and that the Middle East is proof of it. I don't even have the time to go on. As a bisexual women, knowing this woman's church offeres programs for me to "pray my gay away" makes me just sick! Please, no Palin!

Sincerely,
Adrianne Curry

Mccain and Palin should scare you. Sarah Palin makes herself out to be this great govener of "the biggest state in the US, whos population is less then lets say chicago...." and that she has NO hesitation if in fact she did have to become president....HELLO how can you not see the problem there. Yes Obama was a "community orginizer" but he also is a Senator. A Senator that worked hard to get people motivated to get jobs and take there life back. To help rid violence from a part of his city. He lived with these people in a studio shack with no electricty and no hot water so that he could actually know what these people were going throught. Thats all while Sarah Palin is living in her home or the goveners mansion. And when shes not staying there she bills the state for the time she stays at her house. She says" Oh and that bridge to now where....she was totally for that until congress said No, and she kept all that money that was for the bridge but build nothing.....bottom line the woman is a fake and a liar....how could you want someone like this running the country? Have you reasearched this at all? Do you work before you start to talk shit.....EVERYONE!

Obama is qualified because he's a senator? He's been running for president since day one he took office as a senator. He couldn't even vote yes or no...he votes "present"

And both Obama and Biden voted for that "bridge to nowhere" instead of giving that money to Katrina victims!!

palin has been getting 'slimed', their words, from the get go. rumors galore are being spread assassinating her character. whereas your beloved obama has been exaggerating and misrepresenting statements nonstop.

He was AGAINST F.I.S.A. before he voted for it. He was FOR gun control before being against it.

And by the way both Obama AND Biden voted for the bridge to nowhere instead of giving that money to Katrina victims.

Lemme see, Obama on guns...

Ok for states & cities to determine local gun laws. (Apr 2008)
FactCheck: Yes, Obama endorsed Illinois handgun ban. (Apr 2008)
Respect 2nd Amendment, but local gun bans ok. (Feb 2008)
Provide some common-sense enforcement on gun licensing. (Jan 2008)
2000: cosponsored bill to limit purchases to 1 gun per month. (Oct 2007)
Concealed carry OK for retired police officers. (Aug 2007)
Stop unscrupulous gun dealers dumping guns in cities. (Jul 2007)
Keep guns out of inner cities--but also problem of morality. (Oct 2006)
Bush erred in failing to renew assault weapons ban. (Oct 2004)
Ban semi-automatics, and more possession restrictions. (Jul 1998)
Voted NO on prohibiting lawsuits against gun manufacturers. (Jul 2005)

Huh. Nope, not seeing it. Maybe some people are confused by the lack of extremisim in his stance? Get over it wackadoos, most normal people are centrists and don't care for extremism of any stripe. Dude said "He was AGAINST F.I.S.A. before he voted for it." Ok, I'm assuming he means the 2008 ammendments made to FISA, since Obama wasn't in office in '78 when it was voted in. So he's saying Obama was against the current version before he voted for it.

Voted NO on removing need for FISA warrant for wiretapping abroad. (Aug 2007)

Originally opposed efforts to include any legal immunity, especially retroactive immunity, for government officials and telecommunications firms alleged to have taken part in the Bush administration's warrantless eavesdropping program as part of legislation to modernize the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. However, on June 20, 2008, Obama issued a statement saying that he would support the FISA Amendments Act of 2008 passed the previous week by the House of Representatives, although he would attempt to have a retroactive immunity provision included in the bill removed before it came to a Senate floor vote. Obama's decision to vote in favor of a bill containing an immunity provision attracted criticism from some of his activist supporters. Obama voted for an amendment to strip retroactive immunity from the bill, but the amendment failed to pass.[102] On July 9, he voted for the entire FISA amendments bill which still included retroactive immunity.

If that's what you're talking about, I agree, he sold us down the river by allowing the Bush administration and the telecoms to commit felonies including but not limited to in the former case spying on political opponents, and in the later case engaging in industrial espionage against comptetitors. On this point wer agree, since I consider it the one truly unforgivable thing he's done. He sided with the multinationals and the republicans against the american people simply because it was politically expedient to do so. However, nothing in his expressed views inclines on tho think he flipped on the issue, just that he was in a fight he knew he couldn't win, so he knuckled under. I don't respect that. You fight for what's right, not for what's handy or easy.

No Darling, it went FAR beyond teaching them to be aware of sexual predators. It would've taught them names for genitalia, taught them about oral sex, how masturbation should be done in private, how there partners of the same sex, etc.

Do some research. Kids this young don't need to know about mastubation!

I do my research i have a degree in poly sci....google the bill and read it. It is important for our children to know when someone is doing something they should do. Sadly it is people that are close to them and it starts sometimes even before the can walk so yes it is important that they know how to know if something bad is happening to them and how to tell someone about it.

PURE NEOCON HORSHIT, DARLING SWEETIE CUTIE-POOTIE!

"As an Illinois State Senator, Obama supported a bill for “age and developmentally appropriate” sex education, which would have allowed parents to choose to withdraw their children from the classes. The bill was endorsed by the Illinois Parent Teacher Association, the Illinois State Medical Society, the Illinois Public Health Association, and the Illinois Education Association. In a debate in 2004, when questioned by Alan Keyes about what kind of sex education was "age appropriate" for kindergarteners, Obama said, "I'll give you an example, because I have a six-year-old daughter and a three-year-old daughter, and one of the things my wife and I talked to our daughter about is the possibility of somebody touching them inappropriately, and what that might mean. And that was included specifically in the law, so that kindergarteners are able to exercise some possible protection against abuse...." In 2007, in response to a similar attack from Mitt Romney, an Obama spokesperson stated his position that communities should determine the curriculum. The Illinois bill did not call for addressing all sex-related issues in kindergarten classes, and Obama has said that he "does not support teaching explicit sex education to children in kindergarten." "

Do some research. Listening to Michael Savage, FOX "NEWS", or Rush Limbaugh is NOT research. Quit accepting (AND SPREADING) bullshit from talking heads as FACTS. They have a vested financial interst in lying to you, I don't. When you pimp your favorite political TEAM at the expense of the well being and safety of the nation, it's a form of TREASON.
And if you can't show me the part of the IL bill that echoes your statements about what it supposedly included, I'll assume you found out it's a load of crap.

I don't trust Barack Obama, he tells half truths. I REALLY don't trust you or McCain because you fuckers straight up LIE. Now pull Karl Rove outta yer ass before he makes yer colon explode.

I can just tell liberal bullshit hysteria from the truth.

I realize BOTH sides lie...I'll go with the side that lies AND keeps me safe.

If Obama wins he will be tested just as Bush was and as Clinton was. Clinton did NOTHING throughout the 90's after NUMEROUS attacks and they kept coming at us harder each time. This is no time for a ultra-liberal pacifist as president. I'll take my chances with a trigger happy McCain any day. I could give a fuck if the French hate us.

adrianne, have you even READ the comments on this blog?

i HATE stereotyping. i don't label people - i FIGHT against labels and the idiots that feel the need to do so, just to make themselves feel good.

if you hate it so much, and the people that do it, why don't you say something when it happens every time, not when it's done BACK by a rep?

and i could give a DAMN about his being a muslim. my boss is a muslim, born and raised, and i thinks he's a pretty darn cool dude when he isn't busting my ass. actually, he doesn't, which is one of the reasons why he's cool. what i don't like about obama, what i can't get beyond with this guy, is that he sat through years and years of hate filled sermons and kept going to that guy's church. and he allowed this... hate-monger... baptize his children and had them sit through the hateful spew, contaminating them with this toxic poison. he just sat there. don't tell me that you can zone out THAT much. i'm from a preaching family, lord knows i've tried.

i also come from a family where there was alot of racism. i heard it from an early age, and for as long as i can remember, i knew that it was wrong. no one told me, even though most of them felt the same way. noone took me aside and said to ignore the silly people. i KNEW that it was wrong, and hurtful, and stupid. as soon as i could i put as much distance between myself and those people... my grandmothers. one was racist and put me down (to the benefit of my lighter skinned cousins), and one was racist and built me up (at the expense of my darker skinned cousins). i couldn't tolerate it as a 5 years old and years later i still can't stomach it.

obama could. for what? 20 years.

fuck obama. i'm going for mccain.

Among many other reasons, as a physically disabled woman, I don't like that Sarah Palin says as long as she is in the White house, 'special needs' children will have a voice. Yes, it sucks that her son is mentally disabled, but let's be real, Republicans do NOT give as much care to disabled issues (research, funding, insurance, education, aides, etc....), as much as other Political parties do. Therefore she shouldn't use that to gain voters.

I have been trekking against a REPUBLICAN President for 8 years AND as we type, a REPUBLICAN Governor who makes it hard for me [and millions of other 'true' disabled Americans] to live and WORK to give back to the system that has given so much to me [usually when Democrats are in office.]

Just because YOU think it's bullshit, doesn't mean it isn't true. Come live with me for a week and you can see first hand how your beloved Republicans hinder someone who wants to be a reciprocating American.

God Bless
