Trust me, it wasn't tears of joy! When he came back from dinner last night they replayed the debate. He screamed, yelled, and moaned at the tv. He didn't understand how anyone could listen to a woman who REFUSED to answer the questions and just babble on and on about the things she was brainwashed in the last few weeks and actually think she did a good job! "She is the second coming of Bush, Adrianne. We must leave this country if she gets in office" he told me. I completely agree! It floors me that people can watch a woman fuck up names of major players, dodge over 80% of the questions asked of her, and repeat over and over the same thing...and think she did well! All the while acting like she is just hanging out at a fucking bar, winking and acting all folksy like!
You know what it is? She is JUST LIKE BUSH! She doesn't know SHIT about hardly ANYTHING! She is a charming FOOL. All she knows how to do is come off as someone we would have a drink with....I am sorry, but I wouldn't want my drinking buddies running my country! Up until she was selected for Vice President, she would woo the Alaskans by being ANTI everything but Alaska. She would tell big ole nasty America to mind it's own business and let Alaska do as it pleases...ugh! She governes a state with LESS people than JOLIET (my hometown) .
I wont even go on about this chick. I am just so saddened to know Americans want someone as inexperienced as Bush leading our country! That we would send someone that WINKS and says DARN IT to talk to foreign leaders! Have you people even BEEN to foreign countries? The Russians wont even LOOK at you when you speak! A woman is NOTHING but a fucking JOKE in that country...yet I am sure she will do well talking to Putin, HAH! They will laugh at us, especially after seeing how darn smart this ole maverick is! Flying Spaghetti Monster Save us! I had more faith in the intellect of our country at one time, but no more.
I used to LOVE McCain around the year 2000, before he sold out and sold his soul. How did he do that? Well, when his campaign almost tanked and he was seconds from pulling out of the republican race, he sold his soul for the money to keep going. He sold it for the religious right, he sold it to big Oil. The man I see today would have SICKENED the man I loved in 2000. The old McCain (the REAL "maverick") would whoop the new McCains ass and call him a fucking pussy. That is what I used to like about him. No more. All I see in front of me is the second coming of Bush and Cheney.
Chris and I are seriously trying to come up with a plan to leave the country if they win.We cannot stay in this madness if people vote in another 4 years of BUSH. In Europe, most people can speak multiple languages, and know a lot about world events. Here? People go on and on about not caring about anything but our country, FOOLS! I cannot suffer this stupidity! I will NOT fall into the void simply because people wanted to vote more of the same into office, I REFUSE! Am I calling people who vote for McCain dumb? No, I am not. He is a smart guy and I used to like him myself. I just can't see how ANYONE could have watched that ROBOT repeating things over and over last night, that inexperienced winking woman who doesn't RESPECT the Vice Presidency enough to stop acting like she is downing shots at a fucking bar, and think she did well!! People tell me "Well, we love you for the same reasons, Adrianne!" You GOT to be kidding! if I was running for Vice president, I would show the office more respect than I have EVER showed ANYTHING in my life. You wouldn't even recognize me, because I understand what te fuck is at stake. I understand it isn't a goddamn joke, it isn't the place to be CUTE and WINK! This is NOT the time for us to take fucking chances, our entire lives are at stake here. Canada, would you welcome a former Brady and a former model? ; ) I have plenty of very close friends, and FAMILY voting for McCain...and I still love em. However, I wish they would see through the beauty to the lack of brains.
Before I post a few things I found on news sites, i want you to know this. Biden slipped up a few times, or mangled the truth....don't think i wasn't keeping score on his ass either! But, he kicked her ass with knowledge, and didn't have to wink or be cute ONCE!
PALIN: Said of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama: "94 times he voted to increase taxes or not support a tax reduction."
THE FACTS: The dubious count includes repetitive votes as well as votes to cut taxes for the middle class while raising them on the rich. An analysis by factcheck.org found that 23 of the votes were for measures that would have produced no tax increase at all, seven were in favor of measures that would have lowered taxes for many, 11 would have increased taxes on only those making more than $1 million a year.
PALIN: "Two years ago, remember, it was John McCain who pushed so hard with the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac reform measures. He sounded that warning bell."
THE FACTS: Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska led an effort in 2005 to tighten regulation on the mortgage underwriters — McCain joined as a co-sponsor a year later. The legislation was never taken up by the full Senate, then under Republican control.
PALIN: Claimed she has taken on the oil industry as Alaska governor.
THE FACTS: Palin pushed to impose a windfall profits tax on oil companies and distributed the proceeds to the state's citizens to offset rising energy costs. However, she has also sided with the industry on a number of issues. She sued the Interior Department over its designation of polar bears as an endangered species. That puts her on the same side as the American Petroleum Institute, the oil industry's chief trade association. She also supports the industry's desire to drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge — a position at odds with McCain.
PALIN: Said the United States has reduced its troop level in Iraq to a number below where it was when the troop increase began in early 2007.
THE FACTS: Not correct. The Pentagon says there are currently 152,000 U.S. troops in Iraq, about 17,000 more than there were before the 2007 military buildup began.
PALIN: Said Alaska is "building a nearly $40 billion natural gas pipeline, which is North America's largest and most expensive infrastructure project ever to flow those sources of energy into hungry markets."
THE FACTS: Not quite. Construction is at least six years away. So far the state has only awarded a license to Trans Canada Corp., that comes with $500 million in seed money in exchange for commitments toward a lengthy and costly process to getting a federal certificate. At an August news conference after the state Legislature approved the license, Palin said, "It's not a done deal."
PALIN: "Barack Obama even supported increasing taxes as late as last year for those families making only $42,000 a year."
BIDEN: "The charge is absolutely not true. Barack Obama did not vote to raise taxes. The vote she's referring to, John McCain voted the exact same way."
THE FACTS: The vote was on a nonbinding budget resolution that assumed that President Bush's tax cuts would expire, as scheduled, in 2011. If that actually happened, it could mean higher taxes for people making as little as about $42,000. But Obama is proposing tax increases only on the wealthy, and would cut taxes for most others. In the March 14 budget resolution supported by Obama and Biden, McCain actually did not vote.
-------
As in the presidential debate, for instance, neither nominee had a credible answer when asked what programs could be given up to cover the cost of the financial crisis. Biden's suggestions didn't come close to covering the gap. Palin had none.
-------
As the debate progressed and, particularly, as it moved toward foreign policy, where Sen Joe Biden's experience is as long and deep as Palin's is short and shallow, the gap in grasp of detail and analytical skill was transparent. Whether the issue was Iraq, Iran or Afghanistan/Pakistan, the senator plainly showed himself to be better versed. Palin, relying mechanically on McCain's platform points, couldn't quite keep up. Stylistically, her frequent winks and smiles might have left some viewers wondering whether she is serious enough for what she acknowledged are serious and tumultuous times.
-------
Bob, the thing I noticed most with Gov. Palin was that her answers generally were acceptable, but she acted as though she was reading from a script, i.e. her answers often had nothing to do with the question she was asked, and she just recited talking points.
Ottawa, Ontario: She was totally incoherent in those interviews. Tonight she was talking in sentences and sounding frightening faux-reasonable. What happened? Will her performance play to the "heartland"?
Robert G. Kaiser: Thanks for this. What happened, I think, was that she realized she could ignore questions and say what she had practiced saying, which she did.
Boston: Palin said nothing concrete. She couldn't produce any evidence and avoided answering questions that she struggled with. I think Biden won the debate hands down.
Robert G. Kaiser: I think this was a significant shortcoming in her performance. There were no real arguments from her, many assertions.
London: Mr. Kaiser, I stayed up way past my bedtime to listen to this debate, and what I heard was not reassuring. I'm sure you know that Europe is appalled at the choice of Gov. Palin as Sen. McCain's running mate, and nothing she said tonight is going to change this view. I'm sure she's a lovely person who would make a lovely neighbor, but she's simply not qualified to be vice president. We still are having major problems with your re-election of the current president, but this would make things substantially worse.
Robert G. Kaiser: Thanks for staying up and sharing your sense of it. You will see, in my opening comment above, that I too wonder if she reassured people who already had doubts about her.
Reston, Va.: Biden had the right touch -- not terribly dominant, but aggressive enough to deflect Palin's punches. What about his choke? Do you think this would be seen as favorable or unfavorable?
Robert G. Kaiser: Thanks. Lord knows how the choke played. I think it seemed very real.
Gaithersburg, Md.: Answering questions as she felt like it -- dangerous strategy or brilliant spoiler? Will the voters buy into that kind of evasion?
Robert G. Kaiser: Good question.
