My peace sign. The one I wear everywhere, everyday. This is the story--at least, this is the story how I see it...
Inner strength is learned. If one possess it--it means her life has not been purely perfect, but that doesn't mean it hasn't been beautiful. Along that line--I believe that everything happens for a reason, good and bad--it's my responsibility to take what I need from it and move on.
I've shared my life experiences with a handful of incredible people who I felt could gain something from listening--knowing I would gain even more from their response. My peace sign comes from one of these people...She told me thank you..she said I was strong...she said I was brave. But I was amazed by her--she was so much stronger than I could ever imagine being. I decided I wanted to live like her. And I decided I would never judge a person's heart before hearing their story...kindness does not mean you are weak, but it is the bravest form of strength and acceptance. She waved to me months after I met her. I smiled back and pointed at her chipped plastic peace sign hanging from her neck.... "It was from a friend" she said "it reminds me to be strong." She took it off and held her hand out towards me "Here. I don't need it anymore. Just remember to give it to someone who will need it more than you one day." And it was more than a necklace--it was a symbol for healing, for love, for humility...for miracles--which one day, I will pass on to someone who it choses.
People ask where I got it. They ask where they can get it...it's simple really. It could be a ribbon, or a plastic charm...wear something with meaning, with expression, with confidence and pass it on. It might end up saving you one day :)
peace.
