Current mood: excited
Chris - Hello, hello. It's been a while. I just wanted to check in and let everyone know how writing has been going so far from my angle. This is my first writing for a blog post on the new record and with writing. I'm super pumped on the direction everything has been taking and I feel like this material is the next step that we want and need to take while still maintaining our sound. The music is really interesting and doesn't really sound like anything we've done before. As a drummer who is all about progression and musicality, I feel like this is the most creative and most exciting drumming that I've came up with to date. I'm really exciting to start laying down drum tracks and see where things sort of go. We also just finished demoing out the music for about seven new arrangements and are working on three more new ideas. The objective is to have sixteen arrangements to take into the studio. I'm thinking that there will be anywhere from ten to twelve songs on the record and we will use the left over non-album tracks as B-sides. Pretty exciting stuff. Well, there isn't a whole lot more going on. We have some cool announcements coming up soon but nothing that we can say yet. Keep your eyes and ears posted.
All right, I'm out. Love you all and take care.
PS - Speak, the hungarian rapper. Youtube his ass. Real funny stuff.
Bradley G- Broken bones, asbestos and something between old cheese and death smell in the air (our practice cave). Don't think for a moment that the new stuff is coming without some suffering! Everything is coming along well so far. We're all happy with the new stuff so far and are remaining very focused on our goal which is a really, really good album that will melt your face time and time again. On a personal note I am adding to my arsenal a Geddy Lee signature jazz bass which I'm told is in transit to me as we speak so watch out for lots of rush like bass fills! Haha just kidding, not really though. Peace!
Jeff- is busy playing video games and watching the Farting Preacher on YouTube and says he doesn't have anything to say.
Ryan- So here we are a good deal into writing. I would like to say something profound but, really its just a band writing songs. I know that were having a lot of fun at our practice space. We get to write in a demolition zone, which I'm pretty sure a racoon has died in somewhat recently. At the beginning of writing I had the idea to base the record on the movie "The Adventures Of Buckaroo Banzai Across The Eigth Dimension." That idea was of course shot down due to an over abundance of pad synths. Shucks. Instead we've resorted to writing a PTW record. Its different but what else can we do. Hopefully every one will dig.
On another note a great guitar player died recently. His name was Jerry Reed. If you dont know his music you should educate yourself. This dude wrote over 30 instrumentals that Chet "Mr Guitar" Atkins recorded. Elvis also had to pay him extra so that he could play guitar on a song of his that Elvis recorded for his comeback special record. I highly suggest everyone listens to, "the claw", "reedology", and "jerrys breakdown". If anything go on youtube and check out any of these songs.
Brad C - Yo! So we're about halfway done with writing the new record now. We just demoed our first 7 songs and figured it would be a good spot for everyone to check in and say hi. Hi. Being a new dude, I was a little nervous about how everything was going to be when it came time to write, wondering what music would come out of us and if we'd all be on the same page. I'm very happy to say it's straight-up fucking awesome. It doesn't sound like any other PTW records, but it sounds like a great next step. I don't know how to describe it... the closest comparison I have is saying it sounds like music made by a vampire crust punk wearing a cutoff jean jacket with spikes and a giant Crass patch on the back, headbanging to darkly romantic 50s music while on his way to the beach for a surf party.
So there.
Shitty for me, I flipped over my bike handlebars on Sunday night and am now sporting an attractive head gash and a freshly broken collar bone. Im in a sling for 4-6 weeks, so this week I've just been going to practice and being a complete back seat driver. I'll be back playing guitar on Monday because I say so. Nevermind doctors advice.
We have a few different items of really sweet news that we'll be able announce in a week or two. Get stoked for secrets that we've been working on.
That and more updates to come!
xoxo PTW
