Record Update! How much have I caught you up on? Well, I'm in the
studio with Matt Serletic (Aerosmith, Matchbox 20) cutting 7 new tunes for this
ever growing volume of music I've been dangling in front of you for the last
few years. My plan is to finish these 7 tunes in the next couple weeks and
among the 25 or so songs I've recorded, pick 13 to be the finished LP.....
....
But why keep recording? Why cut 7 new tunes? And, why Serletic? To
me there's a difference between 13 good songs and a good album. This
record deserves to be looked at as
a full piece of work, not just disjointed chapters. And to be honest, that's
what I thought it was when all was said and done a month ago. I challenged myself
to write another song or 2 that would improve the work as a whole and ended up
writing 7. I know, I was annoyed too. Dry spells, wet spells, I have no
control. 4 or the new tunes I wrote with Matt and the others I wrote after a
very inspiring pep talk from him on completing my vision and not giving up. He
was the one to inspire this last chapter and seemed to be the perfect person to
help this very tired runner make it to mile 26. ....
....
So far we've done drums, bass, and are on our last day of guitars
as I'm typing. Matt's description
of how these songs were gonna come to life the way I wanted them to is finally
starting to come through. Producing is an art, really. It's beyond me
sometimes.....
....
I'm not
taking my eye off this ball until it's out of the park! I'll check in with you
next week for an update. We should be mostly done with vocals and getting ready
to do Matt's keys. I'm trying to give daily updates on Twitter too. I want you
guys to be around when this thing is done so I can prove to you that I have
been working on something!....
....
Soon....
