It has been an inspiring weekend for me,
the underage festival was like setting buckingham palace
on fire at a jubilee although only 24 i still feel like im fifteen living
a pretend adult life, that is how I want to be forever
the energy of youth and new generations is so exciting
that there is a hunger for new sounds and visions
and ideologies that I am so glad to be reminded still exists.
In my bad teenage days I used to be able to get into
any show I wanted, It was only when I turned 21 did I start
being ID for my age, I was 6ft3 or so by the age of twelve and covered
in makeup but still, those days were easier on teenage thirsty ears.

In the past five years, the government has restricted so much
of the fun and feelings you deserve. I spend so much time trying to get
people who arent allowed in on the guestlist before a show because they are underage
and it makes me feel like were living in the 1950's all over.

Restriction of music, restriction of choice, shift all focus on terror and control, The english government is denying new generations of a healthy musical upbringing
and its becoming boring. If it means all venues are over 18 these days, then I will try my hardest to play halls and bandstands and anywhere where music can be heard for everyone.

I have also become bored of being branded a swedish stripper by "perez soulless vacuous im sorry your life is so superficial gustav mahlers dog will be waiting for you in the afterlife to eat you hilton" Has no body seen "Orlando" by Sally Potter? Read the Leigh Bowery Biography? Watched "Jubilee" by Derek Jarman? I come from these worlds, these are my heroes, heroines,, a naked body does not offend me in any way, it can be used as a communication device, a performance piece. It need not be perfect and there is no such thing as perfection when it comes to the body. I let myself go to my music, sometimes its hot onstage, sometimes its cold.. sometimes the music makes me feel. I do not apologise.

Monday is about to start, my virginal is in the corner and needs tuning today, the hot kensington sun has made the wood stretch and the strings burn into a hazy summer tuning, I have so many songs to finish, the fourth album is becoming an epic, i have discovered alot of old beats and songs and I am definitely working with Alec Empire on a couple of tracks, I will begin recording in September and have plans to tour America, Japan, United Kingdom and Australia before the year is through. Exciting times ahead now.. dont be afraid of the dark.. speaking of the dark....

I have been working on a film soundtrack for a film called "No Ghosts" by John Jenkinson, a long term good friend of mine, and while only in the early stages, he has given me a link where you can find out a little bit what the whole thing is about
the excerpt you hear is called "the days" and was recorded in Vienna.
and here it is...

no ghosts

enjoy the summer my peoples... a tip for the day,
take a boat on a lake and fall asleep and turn your phone off
all the love and then some more xxx patrick wolf

Please don't be too long in Australia, Patrick! Remember the ghosts who stood at the front for your show in the Polish club, Bristol, and in Cardiff and then again for many many more through the years- we know you don't, but we are worried you are taking over the world and we will never again see a repeat of such small attendance. Though I know a few people who would love to join you in Australia! I sat by a lake just the other day until it was pitch black and the wardens had locked the gates, the birds were making lots of noises never heard in the day. Lovely. Love to you, Sadie xxx P.s. I love the soundtrack for No Ghosts...

I applaud you for being an artist who makes your blogs interesting and well thought out on here.

The film looks very intriguing and something I will likely strongly relate to.

Terrific to read that album four is being completed so swiftly.

May the creative bullets continue to fly.

These are the letters I love.

I can't recall how over-joyed I was to see you this past tour with so many new hearts listening to you, opposed to my lone heart (with two friends I brought) to see you at Pianos during the Lycanthropy tour. I'm so glad that you're been embraced by such wonderful and beautiful people and that you've been given the opportunity to work with so many and to see so many places.

I couldn't be happier for you.

And as for escaping electronics, I do it once a week, and my whole body relaxes. I even leave music at home, and find music in other things. I read on the train between naps because I leave early, and return late.

The only thing I wish you wouldn't do is let the naysayers get to you. Anyone with a brain knows that Perez's blog is worthless, catty nonsense. It surprises me still that the US is still stuck on the Puritan morals that founded it four-hundred years ago. We all have bodies, we all want to express ourselves ... it really isn't a shock. What does serve as a shock is restriction, and people still baffled when someone dares.

I look forward to seeing you again, as it has brought me so much joy each time.

I wish you well, and a happy remainder of the summer. If I don't see you by autumn, then I hope its magic brings you beautiful dreams.

xx

It's refreshing to see someone who actually cares about the fans who are underage. I remember what a huge nightmare it was to get an I.D for your Toronto show - worth it though, of course.

Fuck all this superficial stuff - your live show is mindblowing and I hope you come back to Toronto... I will go through the fake I.D process again if I must.

Needless to say, I am eagerly awaiting your next album!

Lots of love!

perez hilton.... I still find it really strange that all those bullshit gossip mag people are talking about you, I guess to me you will always be magic Patrick Wolf, the secret that me and my friends shared.
It seems like the hollow side of the media, is the nemesis of music- kind of goes against why musicians do in the first place.the real vs the fake if you know what I mean.
Let it all wash over you, because fame is ephemeral and music lasts forever.

i'm absolutely delighted for you working with Alec Empire - your little teenage self must be skipping ecstaticly about that ...well...that's what i imagine

i went to the No Ghosts site and clicked around and watched the teaser and in worked in beautiful tandem one informing the other ...the music evoking the emotion to swim with the content......and now the music's stuck in my head.....i get that with movie music when it's worked well

i still mourn that gig many miles away i never got to go to ...about 12 years ago now....but that was parental restriction........i feel worse for the boys ..........it was always easier for girls to get in places.......yes it's another great reason for boys to wear make-up ;)...or for people to be in spectrum in between if they feel it

Orlando is a delight yes xX

i don't even know with Perez Hilton is but i know who you are

i bought tickets to one of your shows last year in the autumn. i wanted to take my sister who is 14, we've loved you for years and it would've been such a good moment to see you and listen to your new album (at the time). but after we'd bought the tickets we realised that she wasn't old enough to get in, and we didn't want to risk it - she looks old for her age but you can't ever tell recently. it was really disappointing for her and we had a lot of trouble trying to sell the tickets on to our friends, we only sold one in the end.

luckily we got tickets for your show at Colchester Arts Centre and may i remind you it was fantastic!

it's really nice to see someone who thinks about what they're doing and about young fans too.

Patrick,

Thank you for continuing to stay in touch and share your real feelings with your huge family of fans! We love you so much and everybody wants a chance to see you perform again soon! I almost lost hope that you'd be coming back to America anytime soon so my heart leaped when you said again that you're planning on doing it before the year is through! I'm pretty certain that you'd be able to book both the Cat's Cradle (Chapel Hill/Carrboro, NC) and the Orange Peel (Asheville, NC) as ALL AGES shows. Though an age restriction wouldn't stop me personally, I know MANY of your lovely underaged fans here in NC who would be terribly disappointed if they didn't get the opportunity to see you!

The bit from "No Ghosts" is beautiful! I can't wait to hear more music from this movie. Do you know when the movie will be out?

Also, you can't imaging how exciting it is for all of us to hear about your progress with the 4th album!!!

I don't think you ever have to worry about growing old. You're a modern day Peter Pan in the truest sense, because you want everyone else right there with you :] I'm only a little saddened that I'm moving to Portland and turning eighteen now that you've been there and gone, for I have a feeling you'll be back before too long. True art can't be contained, whether it's the human form, a rhythm, a brushstroke, or words on a page. It always finds a way through and around obstacles. Even bureaucratic red tape :]

And I hope you caught the meteors, they were wonderful.

Everyone really appreciates these blogs. It shows all the more what a genuine, thoughtful person you really are. Somehow, they truly have the power to turn anyone's bad day right-side up.

Perhaps i reply to late to this, i have been sans internet lately thanks to changing from post excavation in belfast to museum work in cavan, but nonetheless it begs a reply.

Perez hilton becomes disproportionately irate over any who uses words of over two syllables. I imagine that he hasn't even heard of virginia woolf, and thinks orlando a particularly exotic flavour of ice cream to increase his already mighty girth with...let alone seen the film (idk i preferred the book, there were to many discrepancies within the plot) Clearly he will end up in the bowge of aligheri dante's inferno along with the other panderers and flatters, he is pandering to american ignorance, and he flatters himself to think that he is like that which he critiques. He will never be an artist, all perez hilton symbolises is the loathful characteristics of efame.

What i cannot understand is how someone like him, apparenlty trading on gender ambiguity is so shockingly sterile minded.

Meh,food for thought.

Enjoy your tour, especially japan. I have family over there, it's a gorgeous place and people in general are so respectful. I don't know how anyone can live in the uk right now without being terrified, ireland as being marginally more tolerant of individual freedom, wins.
