FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FOUNDATION LOOKS FOR BICYCLISTS TO RIDE FOR A CAUSE

Fullerton,Calif,- A group of seniors from California State University, Fullerton are donating their educational and professional skills in Public Relations to the Lydia Today Foundation, in order to raise awareness for human trafficking and want to get local cyclists involved.

The students, who are known under the name Golden Catalyst Public Relations (GCPR), are working with the nonprofit organization, Lydia Today Foundation, in hopes to bring awareness to the social tragedy happening in Orange County, which is human trafficking.

“I had no ideathat this problem was so prevalent in my area until I began this project,” GCPR member Lauren Harris said.  The sad reality is that the majority of not just Orange County residents, but Americans as a whole are blind to this growing problem.

On April 11, 2009, GCPR will bring awareness to the human trafficking cause with “Traffic for Human Trafficking.”  “Traffic for Human Trafficking” will consist of approximately 50 cyclists riding through Fullerton on April 11, 2009.  The cyclists will be seen wearing white t-shirts with the Lydia Today Foundation logo.  The full logo features three images of a woman’s face, in progression as
the pixel amount increases. In the first image, very little of the face is shown and by the third image, the full face is viewable.  This logo represents Lydia
Today Foundation’s motto to Rescue, Rebuild and Restore.  The group of cyclists with the complete image on their backs will signify the community of Fullerton unmasking the truth of human trafficking in order to put and end to the
problem.  Cyclists will ride through the city of Fullerton from 3-4 p.m and end their ride at Café Veronese, where GCPR and Lydia Today Foundation will be hosting “Stop the Demand- A Campaign for Human Rights,” from 4-6 p.m.

“The modern slave trade is a business fueled by demand. Consequently, to some degree we are all part of the problem or part of the solution. We contribute to demand by turning a blind eye to pornography and sex tourism or by making choices that reward companies that keep their bottom line under the rest of the market by the use of slave labor," Founder Sandie Morgan said.

According to www.LydiaToday.org, human trafficking is the second most profitable criminal activity worldwide, surpassing drug trafficking.  An estimate $33.3 billion is generated in annual revenue from all human trafficking activities.  Morgan is using her organization to spread awareness that these human trafficking activities aren’t just happening in underdeveloped countries- they occur in cities in Orange County every day.
