Madonna is the latest high profile celebrity to file for adoption in another country.  So many famous people are adopting kids from other countries these days it make you wonder what exactly their intentions are.  Are they doing it because they honestly want to raise another child?  Or are they trying to erase their wealthy guilt?  Whatever their reasons are, they sure have drawn attention to and are making it the in thing to do.  Don't get me wrong I agree that children who are left in orphanages do need our help.  They also need people from their own countries to help them.

There is a double edged sword going on here.  In the Untied States there are many children waiting in foster homes who need to be adopted too.  They find themselves learning how not to become attached to their latest foster family just in case it doesn't work out.  It is a form of survival.  They are shuffled from here to there until they turn 18 and then they are off on their own. 

While high profile people are off adopting kids around the world, our foster kids are slowing slipping away and becoming America's Invisible Children.  How do we help our children and the world's children have better lives?
