When was the last time I posted an update?

Forever ago. First of all, HAPPY HALLOWEEN and thanks so much for hanging out on my board. You have no idea how much I appreciate it. It's been a rollercoaster year, but things seem to finally be settling down and getting back to normal horror business.

I've spent a great deal of the last few months playing catch-up on deadlines and I'm happy to report that I'm not only caught up, but ahead of the game on a couple things. I have a draft of the BIGFOOT movie. We're pounding out some details, but there's a draft! The Lurkers is going into a third revision, I think we might be ready to start looking for a director soon.

30 DAYS OF NIGHT crossed the 30 days of shooting mark and everything I'm seeing and hearing makes me think the film will be great. I hope they start releasing some images soon because I think you guys are going to be very happy.

I just completed writing the first four issues of CRIMINAL MACABRE. This four issue stretch is called TWO RED EYES and between that and the ending events of SUPERNATURAL FREAK MACHINE (which is in Previews now!) Cal's life has become a complete and total mess. I've also completed and turned in the first issue of the next series MY DEMON BABY which will feature lots of Satanic horror goodness.

I just completed the 28 DAYS LATER: AFTERMATH graphic novel which turned out to be a lot of fun and a lot of work. It's 88 pages, broken down over four 22 page stories. There will be three different artists, and really, some of the most grimmest stuff I've ever written. I'm not sure how much I can say, but one of the artists is one of my long-time collaborators and his shit is looking amazing.

CITY OF OTHERS is moving along smoothly and is easily the most fun I've ever had doing a comic. I'm ALMOST used to working with Bernie Wrightson and it's such a freakin' thrill every time I see a new page. I really think this is some of the most gorgeous comic work he's ever done. The first issue is in the can and being colored. I'll post pages as soon as I get some to show.

The second issue of THE CRYPTICS is just about finished. This time around, instead of all those little one-pagers and shorts, Ben and I decided to do an issue-length story called TO HECK AND BACK. It's really fun stuff and we're introducing a couple new characters too. Order that book so we can do more!

Speaking of ordering books, the new Previews has a couple cool new things in it including the one-shot, super sick zombie comic by me Andrew Ritchie and Jason "Jaco" Hanley called PIECES OF MOM: A Tale of the Undead. We sure would appreciate you ordering a copy and tormenting your local retailer to make them order.

Also in Previews this month is the final issue of THE CREEPER. The last two issues of this series are WAY out-of-control and I can't wait to see what you guys think. "Gav need more SKiiiiin!" Man, was that a fun series to write. I think I really enjoy doing the superheroes. Who knew?

I know I'm forgetting something. I always do. It's a miracle I can remember all this stuff with my old damaged brain of mine.

Again, thanks for hanging out. Thanks for buying my books, and thanks for being so cool.

Thanks and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

-Steve

I've heard of some busy comic writers, but jesus-tap-dancing-christ, how in the hell do you have time for all this? As always, I'm amazingly impressed by not only the quantity of your work, but also the quality! You're a fantastic writer and a godsend to the horror community. Keep it up, Steve!

BIGFOOT? Perhaps you could persuade your good friend, Mr. Rob Zombie, to direct once he's done with his Halloween remake...man, that would be sweet!

Happy Halloween, Steve Niles, wherever you are!

As usual, it's Halloween and I'm drunk. So however emotional I have gotten tonight, I can't forget to thank Steve Niles for being the most fan-respectable and grateful writer I know. And EVERYTHING you write is top-notch fucking cool.
