Patriots Training Camp Quick Hits:

The practice fields behind Gillette Stadium were a bit slick this afternoon due to an earlier rain,. but that didn't stop wide receiver Troy Brown from making a going deep on cornerback Ellis Hobbs. Moments later he repeated the same thing making a catch over safety Eugene Wilson.

Wide receivers Reche Caldwell and Matt Shelton also looked good this afternoon as they victimized some of the other cornerbacks including Eric Warfield and Asante Samuel.

Backup quarterback Matt Cassel had a rough afternoon with his inability to move the team into field goal range during the team's two-minute drill. On both attempts Cassel and crew were given a minute and ahalf to march the ball down the field.

The drives were hap-hazard at times with dropped balls and throws over the middle that burned too much time.  Asante Samuel had a bit of revenge from his earlier difficulties manging to pick off a Cassel pass and run it back all the way.

Linebacker Tedy Bruschi delighted the fans in attendance as he also made a solid play on defense during the practice.  Bruschi whooped it up with the fans by pumping his arms in triumphant fashion.

--The kick return specialists had a good workout.  They included  Reche Caldwell, Hank Poteat, Vernell Brown and Willie Andrews. Of the bunch, both Poteat and Caldwell looked the more comfortable fielding the ball.

--Of note were the Patriots not in attendance for the afternoon practice. They included  Matt Light, Nick Steitz, Michael McGrew, Garrett Mills and  Dan Graham.  One bright spot was having center Dan Koppen who made an appearance on the field before heading for more work in the bubble behind the stands.
