sarahisflyy: if you were the prez of the usa, what would you do first?

As hypothetical president of the United States, I would remove guns from personal/protective use. Even hunters would have to get creative and use spit balls or something, as guns would no longer be allowed for their sport. I would also remove guns from the media. No movies, television, or video games would be allowed to show them. I think removing firearms from the social consciousness would quickly bring about new thought.

In my opinion, the material age is over, and we are fast approaching an era of giving and sharing. But, some won’t give up their goods and space without a fight, and I worry that he with the most ammo will win. The US bullies other countries about WMD’s while it is us who have more than 7000 nuclear missiles and warheads, more than any other country on the planet.

The next thing I would do with all the money saved on not making weapons, is invest in education, building more schools and hiring more teachers AND raising their salaries. It is important for teachers to be provided for and to feel inspired to do their selfless duty, that of raising intelligent, caring, creative, and connected souls.

And third, as President of these United Shapes, I would focus on clean water and chemical free natural foods. The better we eat and drink, the less likely we are to get cancer and require a lifetime of medical attention. Health and vitality lives in all of our hearts. We just have to know how to tap into it. Our bodies are born to work perfectly, we just need better access to real food; food that isn’t wrapped in plastic, made by a machine, or smothered in chemicals.

Do I have your vote?

Helen_hsd: do you believe in the end of the world (21st dec 2012) predicted by the mayas? - That's my brithday...oh no :(

I do NOT believe it is the end of the world. I do like to consider it a magical date though, acknowledging the global shift, welcoming in the Age of Aquarius. As the 2000-year Christ dominated Age of Pisces ends and newer versions of the same great love story become widely accepted, consciousness expands. It is the end of days for the cluttered material saga that has made so many of us sick, poor, and hungry; the same filthy era that has generated enough toxins for our air and our oceans to bring our existence to near halt.

The new evolution seems to already be showing signs of success in science, soul peace, cooperation, and co-habitation, as we’re finding ways to better live in harmony with nature, and each other.

You have a blessed birthday, dear Sagittarian. You are outspoken and have a crazy-creative heart. Make sure you hug as many people as possible and share that lucky heart of yours. Allow yourself to rub off on others.

erindenise: What is your fav constellation or star! Mine is Beatlejuice in Orion's arm pit and Orion it's self.

They are neither constellations nor stars, but I find myself in awe of Venus and Saturn. I can see both from my house and I respect the energetic influence they have on me - pulling me towards and into a sea of exceptional love, swimming with muses, and understanding my mind’s vastness to be and do anything. What capacity for adventure! What a spirited life!

Check out this cool doodle about where stars are in relation to earth and where our broadcasts are currently being replayed out in the cosmos. If we lived on Beta Aquilae, we’d just be seeing the Beatles appear on Ed Sullivan and have the Apollo Moon Landing to look forward to.

4.
tarasays_: with all the Beatles hype right now...what's your favorite Beatles Album? (mine is Abbey Road)

(Mine is Revolver)

5.
duh_nay: what kind of car did you have when you first drove to San Diego in back in the day?

I didn’t have a car actually. But, the universe knew that I needed a lift and thus delivered. The first set of wheels, a sporty Toyota, came from a friend of a friend in VA who had moved to Los Angeles without her car and was hoping someone could drive it out to her. No problem. This was 1998 and was my first venture out west. I was 21.

In order to return to VA, I headed up to San Francisco and purchased the title of a Mitsubishi Montero for one dollar. (I had a very generous friend in need.) The deal was that I would drive it the sexy SUV to VA and register it with the DMV and then return to California in the summertime and give the car back. It was a scam that allowed me to use the car for a limited time, making my move possible, and then it would give her a legal vehicle to drive when I returned. Being uninsured and unregistered with expired plates in California can be worrisome - but SF has great public transportation, so she wasn’t really in need of it.

After arriving in San Diego a few months later, I was graced with many loaner vehicles – a sporty Dodge Neon, a Mazda MX6 (which quickly became known as the Mrazda), and my favorite of all vehicles to date, a bicycle.

Prior to living in California, my dad always helped me finance cars that were previously owned by senior citizens, namely, my grandma and her friends. They were all quite wide cars with plush or plastic seats, exuding warmth in the summer like sitting on an electric blanket – but still managing to freeze in the winter making driving feel like papa-penguin warming his egg under his ass. Rarely did I have AC and often I would overheat, which meant driving with the heat on in the summer.

But nothing beats the 78 Dodge Pick-up that my step-dad found for me. It once belonged to the highway department and was the same color as a school bus. While it only received AM frequencies on the radio, it had one big front seat that ladies loved to skooch on. Nothing makes you feel as lucky as having a pretty woman blocking your rear view mirror.

6.
RiantKayla: What is your favorite adjective?

Here are a few:
My benevolent friend let me use his microscope to examine one of my records. Up close, I was surprised to see it was scrobiculate. I tell ya, the science in spinning records will always be enigmatic to me.

7.
denalim@jason_mraz I'm a freshman in college an wanna try eating healthier but don't have access to much cooking-wise. Any good easy food recipes?

Buy a rice cooker with a steam tray. You’ll be making brown rice or quinoa while veggies steam on top, at the press of a button! Any meal combination in that circular little machine will be healthy and tummy warming, perfect for winter in a dorm. I promise your friends and neighbors will be lining up to use it. Avoid microwaves at all costs. Anything you heat up inside one of those nuclear devices will basically be destroyed, leaving behind NO nutritional value, only radiation.

Food is food as long as you B=buy whole foods. If it doesn’t rot you shouldn’t eat it. And recipes are all about flavor. Invest in some spices and sauces and you’ll find that rice and veggies will serve and satisfy for a long time. Just ask the 1.1 billion people in India. Most of whom are vegetarians.

8.
MightyMikeDub: What do you eat while on tour?

What is it about this drawing that makes me think of “Where the Wild Things Are?”

9.
wearebiologyFriday question for @jason_mraz Monday blog - Morbid but I'm just curious: what would you order for your 'last meal?'

See question 8.

10.
BrisOwnWorld: how do you clear your mind while meditating? I can never seem to do it and when I try it just stresses me out more...

I don’t think the mind ever gets quiet. To do that may take a lifetime of solitude and selfless service – but even then your mind will be talking. Meditation is all about how to work WITH the mind’s voice, teaching it to hum instead of ask questions and make up to-do lists.

If you’re first starting out, it is important you don’t judge yourself or put yourself down. If your mind wanders, let it wander. See where it wants to take you. If troubles come, just pay attention to your breathing. One of the goals in meditation is to allow your thoughts to find peace. Sometimes, in order to do that, you’ll have to get real with yourself and get complete with others you’d been inauthentic with in your life. Successful meditation can be measured by how much you weep in this practice of upright conscious sleep.

Try also a walking meditation. This is where you focus on every step you take. No step passes you by without you being conscious of it. The world in this practice becomes so vivid. Your central and nervous system become so connected that your thoughts can only make room for gratitude. It’s pretty bad-ass.

11.
isavetheearth: How close have you been with mother nature?

Falling from a plane I’ve flown free in her breezes
I’ve slept in her jungles and survived off her trees’s
I’ve outrun fire-storming funnels, red tornados in motion
And swam careless with sharks, in her deep, breeding ocean

12.
fondofmraz@jason_mraz Please tell me at least one thing at which you are terrible. If not, I will be forced to assume you are a robot. Domo arigato.

Well. I don’t always have tact and compassion where others’ may have hoped I would show it. But I won’t live my life assuming I am loved or hated for it. Some people like dark comedy. Some people like court TV. Whatever. The same goes for personal preference in your habits and hobbies. Therefore, I don’t judge myself on how good or bad I am at something. What am I comparing myself to if I think I am a terrible guitar player? Why would I create any of my creations as wrong or lacking something? I know I don’t speak Spanish very well, but that’s because I haven’t studied. It doesn’t mean I’m terrible.

While I am not a robot, I have done a great deal of reprogramming so that I am careful in how I let the world show up for me. There are ladygagillions of possibilities in the world and you, my “fond of” friend. get to invent them all.

Here’s an example: Sometimes we find ourselves affected by someone looking at us funny. “What did that mean?” “Why was she looking at me like that?” “I must’ve done something terrible.” “She must be terrible.” “Is there something hanging out of my nose.” “Does she like me?” - The possibilities are endless as to why someone may have looked at you. But the reality is – it was just a look. The meaning you apply to it is just one in an infinite pool of possibility. So with all that out of your control, what are you going to do to remain IN control and love your life?

I am terrible at short answers. But today the world shows up for me as a place craving expression, so I am happy to feed her my two cents. Thanks for asking.

I saw you tonight in Dallas and you were amazing as always. I brought two of my friends that have never seen you live and they are now believers of your awesomeness. We just arrived home after our three hour commute home to Louisiana and was pleased to see a blog here waiting. Thanks for everything you do to make this world a better place for us to live.

Thank you for your willingness to STAND in the face of a wave that looks very appealing yet doesn't "realistically" solve the root of the problem! I also believe education is  A  key to a better future, however that depends entirely on the form of education and the truth that does or does not reside within the teacher! In this world there are too many children without the benefit of a"positive parental role model" !This makes your job that much harder! Mandatory drug testing is apples and oranges comparatively speaking but beware what can of worms you are opening there because "RX drugs" are equally controversial and if you test for them ./.....NO BODY WOULD QUALIFY TO KEEP THEIR JOBS!What then TEACHER shall we do? This is what should be taught...WHAT THEN? If we had to depend entirely on what resources we had personally and physically acquired  and possibly a neighbor or three or 10,000,what would we need that we hadn't prepared for?...And what would that inspire us to want to teach our children then? I am a MOTHER and when it comes to matters of principal and God and Family..."Every man should be equally armed as his oppressor"! May we always  remember that our greatest weapon lies in our willingness to submit our will to the greater good and use our hearts as a compass to lead us to that end! THE GREATER GOOD!Shine on Melissa and I hope you get that raise you deserve..no child left behind and all this mandatory testing has monopolized so much of the curriculum these days that teaching has become less of a joy and more of a plight of diligence!Kudos to all who still manage to keep their sparkle as you seem to have!Forgive the lecture...I am passionate when it comes to these issues ...as I recommend everyone should be!I desire only to encourage and enlighten! Thanks again!for STANDING!

The answer to number 12 reminded me of a man I once worked with.  I was the first female to work at a traditionally male job, and this man named Charlie was always staring at me...like he knew I would fail. The only time Charlie wouldn't look at me was when we were having a conversation with each other, in which case I assumed he was looking around for his friends, so he could scurry off before they caught him talking to "the girl"(me).  I felt so self-conscious that I began to avoid Charlie.

Months later Charlie took some time off of work for eye surgery.  I found out he  was very self-conscious because he had adult  strabismus  that caused his eyes to wander...

ahhh the irony of life.  we're all in the same boat really.

As a general rule, I don't like guns, either.  (I still own one) But until the world can come to absolute peace, we will need them.  I watched as people in Louisiana walked around their property with 40 cal. shotguns because they wanted to protect their homes and families.  As long as the world is greedy, we will always need a bigger weapon to keep them out of what's ours.  As long as there are still people trying to impose their will on us, we will always need to be stronger.  And I don't want to rely simply on the military.  What if they're the only ones with the guns and they get out of control?  I don't want to live in a world like some over in Africa or the Middle East.  I don't want to be terrorized in my own home because I can't fight back.  And we can't rely on the police.  If something were to happen in my home because someone had a gun and I didn't, do you really think a police officer would be there, on site, to protect me?  The only way we'll be able to get rid of weapons altogether is when we get rid of people who want to take what's not theirs.  And yes, what a wonderful world that would be!

My first car was a 1975 Monte Carlo.  My dad had to cosign because I was only 17.  I paid for it with some inheritance money and it was kinda banged up.  But it ran so nice.  I'm a big fan of V8 engines.  Since then, I've driven a few new cars, and I've had a few old cars.  I've never been a materialistic kind of person.  I don't care what I drive, as long as it gets me from point A to point B.  I'll never be able to ride another bike.  But I won't rule out an electric car! :)
