Willie Nelson once sang that mothers shouldn't let their babies grow up to be cowboys. He should have implored them to not let their precious spawn grow up to be musicians.

As Willie well knows, the music business isn't for the faint of heart. The industry is littered with broken dreams, substance abuse, deception and financial ruin. The only other field of potential moneymaking that has left more people thoroughly screwed would be those who sell their bodies for money. Even then, prostitutes usually get paid once services are rendered. The same can't be said for musicians.

There is no worse story in music than the sad tale of Badfinger. Best known for their early 70's hits, "Baby Blue," "Come & Get It" and "Day After Day," the group lived a Greek tragedy of dizzying highs and the lowest of lows. BLOG OF THE WEEK: Armagideon Time

If my book, you can trust any blog named after a Willie Williams tune (famously covered by the Clash). Obsessed with classic super hero comics, each post covers topical issues of the day with relevant musical gems. Recent Mp3's found on the site have included tunes by the MC5 (the group's hard to find single from 1967, "I Can Only Give You Everything"), Royal Trux (the rootsy lo-fi rock of 1993's, "The Spectre") and the theme to the classic Iron Man Cartoon from 1966. He also celebrates the music of the king of the jukebox, Louis Jordan as well as a wide range of diverse artists such as Liberace, The Flesh Eaters and The Eyeliners. If you love comics and music, Armagideon Time will be your new favorite place on the World Wide Web.

Get 'em while you can...
