Current mood: adventurous
greetings all.
Just to let y'all know what we're up to...
Chris and I are enjoying our time OFF the road for January while we iron out some kinks in the new record (re-do some of my vocals, re-amp some guits and do some piano, triangle, glock overdubs). Probably my proudest contribution to the album would have to be my 4 part violin section on one of the new songs. I haven't seriously played that instrument in over 10 years, but with the help of our producer, Justin Vernon's, midas touch (lots of verb) he made me sound like a stellar string player. I'm currently writing a song about severed limbs and dirty friendships. also started a new song called "the Death Committee" dedicated to everyone who drinks until they pass out or puke. Perhaps not all that original, but all too relevant none the less.
We finished recording the Full length in September at a beautiful church outside of Montreal with the engineering help and expertise of Mark Lawson, Drew Mallamud, and the aforementioned Justin Vernon. We were fortunate enough to have a certain Mr. Andrew Barr (The Slip) play drums on 9 songs. He and I are also in a country/bluegrass band called "Sister Brother" with Brad Barr (the slip) and Michael Felber (Dynasty, Fanstasy, Velvet Beat...). We've been a band for about 4 years, but due to our busy work schedules with other projects we've only managed to play 2 shows.
I digress. Justin Vernon (aka Bon Iver) and I went up north of toronto, Ont. to my granny's cottage where we put the finishing touches on the album and started the mixing process. however, i started writing two new songs which i'm pushing to go on the album so we'll see how that idea pans out at this weekend's session.
We will be touring UK and Europe Feb/March and then jumping over to SXSW to play a few shows. after that we will hang our touring hats until the Full Length is released July. mind you it's hard to get a feel for when the album will actually be released due to all the "red tape" in label land.
if you're where we'll be in Feb/March then see you soon. if you're in North America see you this summer. thank you for reading, listening, writing, caring, supporting,
Lizzie
