days one and two:
i wasnt able to get the day off from work, so i end up getting an hour nap before heading off to work. we'll leave after i get off.
i get pulled over on the way to work. i get stuck waiting around for a half hour while the cop runs my info etc.
reason for being pulled over? i had a strand of mardi gras beads hanging from my rear view mirror.
A strand.
WTF i didnt even know that that was an issue in IL. i've been pulled over 4 or 5 times since i've had that car and i've always had stuff on the mirror. never been a problem before...
i finally get to work. i go to plug something in and proceed to get electricuted. nice. you ever see the cartoons where the dinamite blows up in someones face and they get all that black on them? thats what my hand looked like. where ever was faceing the plug was coated in this black stuff i had to scrub off. that and i had this red streak running up my thumb to my wrist that ITCHED for about an hour.
the fireball and sparks were kinda cool. i didnt really get hurt, but man did i kill the powerstrip. wonder if perhaps management will listen when i point out that something is starting to look like its breaking down? i doubt it.
i get off work on time, rush home, dad picks me up and off we go.
i hit the bank to cash a check so i have $ for the trip.
i forgot that bank will only cash a personal check IF YOU ALREADY HAVE THAT AMOUNT SITTING IN YOUR ACCOUNT. nice. so since a couple people paid me by check and i didnt have extra $ in that account, i had to go to bank 2.
which didnt open for another 10 min.
a quick stop in at best buy and we're off!.......
only 2.5 hours later than we wanted.
there were some rather impressive storms and wind gusts that we drove through. i slept through nebraska....
made it to gillett (sp?), WY, around midnight. had a hard time finding a room. when we got up today it was only 43 degrees outside and still storming.
today we got out of the storms, the weather warmed up some, and we made it to shelby, montana. there is a field next to the parking lot of the hotel that is full of prarie dogs. the're SO CUTE. i stalked them with the camera for a while. i got really close to one of them. there was a pair that were "wrestling", but they werent close enough to get a pic of----so no prarie dog porn for anyone :)
only bad point of the day was when dad had me refill is coffee cup. he had me do it outside the car since the thermos was a bit overfilled. had trouble getting the cup lid off, had trouble getting the thermos open, had a gust of wind take off with the lids, and dumped the coffee down my shirt. at least it wasnt hot.
only shirt i can get to is my "inspected by bob" cami. which i changed into and put a hoodie over. than proceeded to wash the coffee out of the other one.
and now i've spent the rest of the day haveing my dad telling me to pull my shirt up. apparently he's afraid to look at me since he's afraid he'll "be able to see all the way to my navel" if i bend over. the cami doesnt dip any lower than my bra line and its a plain, generic bra. no plunging nothing. .ah.... nothing like dads being dads......
we'll cross the border in the morning...
