Yes, I find myself in the empty psychiatric ward of a huge hospital just outside of Philadelphia. Even though I'm here with a film crew, still feels creepy walking through the underground "tunnels" between wings by myself at night.

We're shooting Tooth and Nail, a post-apocalyptic thriller (kind of horror?) movie. Survivors in a hospital fighting off cannibals.

Hell yeah.

Not nearly as gory as Cabin Fever, but I do get to say the words "two-bit ass clowns" in all seriousness. And hey, people eating people = good movie. Always.

My friend the lovely Alexandra Barreto (Blanca from Pepper Dennis) is in this as well (oh how far we've come) as is Rachael Miner and Nicole DuPort. We're having a good time. I'll see if the producers will let me post any photos.

But man, Philly is a cool town. Both my parents are from Pennsylvania and I've been here plenty to visit relatives, but never spent much time in this city. It's really great (ok, a little cold right now). It's funny that Boy took place here but we never shot anything here or even came to visit. I hope Philadelphians didn't mind our representin. So far people have been very welcoming when they recognize me.

So it looks like another birthday working through a movie (this is the fourth year in a row) but no complaints. I've already made it to New York to reconnect with the East Village and will probably head back for the big 27. Damn, that sounds ancient. You spend an entire year being older than you feel and when you finally get comfortable with the number, it's time to roll it on over to the next.

Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving. Mine was spent on Maui while some friends got married barefoot on the beach. Didn't feel very "holidays-ey" but you know, when you're cruising on a bike in the warm sunshine of Kihei, you can let go of some expectations...

Anyway, if you're interested, I'll try and keep you updated on the Tooth and Nail filming.

AND...spent three weekends in November shooting a project with Will Friedle. I will keep you posted as things progress on that front. Very funny stuff.

Thanks for stopping by,
Rider
Kelley

Wow!

How creepy that (tooth and nail) sounds. I probably wouldn't able see it due to the fact I am a huge chicken. I saw cabin fever and beat my friend up during the movie because I was terrified.

I want to support you though, so I just might get scared to death again.

You got to work with Will again, how cool! :)

Thanks for the updates!

Jesus...cannibals. Something for the kids, huh?

If you're gonna do the b-day weekend in NYC, come on by the Kings Head Tavern in Union Square friday night...got a little old school thing happening there. Dress is casual.

Have fun in Philly...take a run up the art museum steps...I was there two weeks ago and did it...then had to flag down an ambulence because of the heart attack and all...but I still did it, Rocky Balboa style.

Happy birthday...welcome back to the east coast...we missed ya

I'm generally not a cannibal fan, but if it includes you and two-bit ass clowns, I'm in.

And oooooooooh, a project with Will.  Ooooooooooh.

Thanks for the update - it's cool that you are continuing to get work. It's great that you were here in Hawaii for Thanksgiving - I'm on O'ahu. I hope you had a good time on Maui. Happy 27th Bday - BTW, you are too funny about feeling "old" - I'm turning 38 on Christmas Eve - talk about feeling "ancient."  I can't believe I'm almost done with my thirties. At least you are still in your twenties.  Time seems to be passing so quickly - I guess that means we really have to enjoy every moment!! Have fun on your new film!! It is such a blessing to be able to make a living sharing and using your talent!! You are extremely talented and have many gifts - and we (your fans) are able to enjoy them through your work as well. So keep us posted from time to time so we can support you in any way that we can.

Aloha,

Karen

I'm so excited to see these things!
I'm also excited that I live near Philly, and my sister lives IN Philly.
...somehow that makes me feel connected. Yeah, I'm pretty much a loser, but I'm totally okay with that.
Happy Birthday soon.

1)  Can't wait to hear you say "two-bit ass clowns."

2)  Happy birthday.  If 27 is ancient, what does that make me?  Dead?

3)  Try spending Christmas in Hawaii.  There's nothing like listening to "Feliz Navidad" while lying on the beach to give a person a new perspective on things.

4)  Will surfaces!  Is this the same project that Marsden mentioned to me like, a year ago??

Thanks for blogging,

Carrie

Are you at the abandoned Philadelphia State Hospital? It was originally called ByBerry back in 1906 when it started out as a work form for the mentally challenged. If that's where you are filming have you guys witnessed any paranormal activity yet? That place is well known for it's paranormal activity. Please let us know if anyone does witness anything paranormal, that is if that's where you are actually filming.

Oh BTW Happy Birthday. Yeah, I know, it's a couple days early.

Brightest Blessings!

You are braver than I am...Just like you I am interested in abandoned places...They interest me because it makes me wonder what went wrong for this place to be abandoned, Who lived/worked there...IDK all of these questions go threw my head when i see abandoned places but im not brave enough to go in them like you are.

Can't wait to see that one!  I love horror (OK, maybe better when it's subtle and suspenseful ala Hitchcock, but gore and terror are cool too).

Yeah, you know you're getting up in years when kids start calling you "Mr."  And when their parents tell them, "Say thank you to the nice man."  And just wait till they stop showing reruns of "Boy".  I started feeling old when I was 26/27.  20 years later, give or take a few, I know I wasn't old back then.  You live a charmed life (biking Kamaole Beach on Thanksgiving sounds good to me) so you don't get to complain about getting old (lol).

Anyway, have a happy birthday!

Hey I've got a friend who loves abandoned hospitals. He takes pictures of them everywhere he can. He has a bunch of pics up on his site - www.abandonedforever.com it's awesome! I can see how they can be kind of creepy, though. I find it fascinating.

The movie sounds awesome! I can't wait to see it.

Sorry, can't watch. I can't even bring myself to read Lord of the Flies. I turned off the TV when static started on the Poltergeist, near the beginning of the movie. I watched Last Samurai alone and staggered on my way out. I did use to watch Are You Afraid of the Dark.

I'll spread the word though.

Were you at Byberry Hospital? Me and a bunch of friends used to go exploring there (illegally traspassing) during my college days. Alot of strange stories about that place, both while it was in use and after. I could go on and on. Can't wait to see the movie!
