This morning I woke up at 6:30. Why? There is no why. So I fell back asleep.
Then I woke up at 7:20 and realized the sun was not going to be my friend. I think that has to be the reason why I wake up with headaches sometimes. I think the light of God is trying to kill me.
The house is empty (Nathan's in Charleston and Dana's in Athens) so the only sound I can hear is the humming of the various machines (mostly computers). But I'm trying to live with the silence. Yesterday I was playing some music when "Digital Bath" came on and I had almost no reaction to it (I was getting bored with my favorite song by my favorite band apparently). I had the same reaction to "2 Rights Make 1 Wrong" and "We Looked Like Giants." So, because absence makes the heart grow fonder, I decided it was time to have a music strike.
Music strikes are pretty common with me, usually when dealing with my top tier bands (Deftones, onelinedrawing, Mogwai and Sigur Ros). I listen to music more than frequently (between walking everywhere and blocking out the noise of the house there is always a constant soundtrack) so if my library doesn't change enough I get super bored with everything. So I kill certain bands from my routine. Today all my music will be removed from the iPod and replaced with electronic fare (Sasha, Digweed, Crystal Method, Plastic Compilations, etc) and selected songs I liked from mix CDs other people have made me.
So with that comes a lot of ripping which is absolutely fine because I am bored out of my mind. It's only 10:30 and I've showered, updated my blog, wrote a little bit, and watched
Bend It Like Beckham (again ... I've seen that movie more times than I ever intended ... but it's so watchable). After this I'll finish the
Kevin Smith book* (which will be a record time for me to finish a 300+ page book: one week), make some lunch, monitor the
Packers' draft, and hopefully catch some
Project Greenlight today. There is no single show that makes me feel better as a person because if producers can trust these yokels then I have a shot.
Also: it is cold like a mofo.

* I was kind of disappointed (Nathan and I talked about this) Kevin Smith didn't include the Tim Burton quote on the back of his book like he said he would (refer to the
An Evening with Kevin Smith DVDs just after the "Superman" section). Maybe he put it on one of the graphic novels/trade paperbacks he's done and I don't know about it.
