i went to NYC last weekend for the OUT 100 party and i had a great time...

(bunny's bling always blinds me...)

(took a photo with richie rich for a friend)

(this one was all for me. chad is as sweet as he looks.)

(mr. cohen and mr. gunn MAKE IT WORK.)

(with ari gold, OUT's jason and the village people's randy jones in the background.)

(these are all new friends whose names have slipped my mind--did i mention the cocktails were free?)

(my friend george carrancho)

(one of many bizarre items to be found in the OUT 100 gift bag. it says, "for anal-rectal burning, itching and discomfort." why, thank you!)

(new friends jason and nick at the after-after-party at... phoenix?)

OUT.com writer and my road dawg for the weekend, jason rowan, cradling the face of a very cool playwright whose name i just forgot.)
and the weekend went on from there...
i apologize to my east coast myspace buddies for not having more time to see all of you. i had planned to drop by escuelita and kee kee with harmonica, but it just didn't work out. i hadn't been to NYC for almost a year and i needed to spend some quality time with my people out there. so i'll try and be more public about my appearances next time around. i did have a great weekend...
and on another note...
i had planned to share with you all my inclusion in this year's OUT 100... but something strange (although not totally unexpected) happened. some folks in the gay blogosphere picked up on the story of my "coming out" and somehow managed to twist the whole situation into yet another criticism of how i'm handling myself. rather than draw attention to the bitterness, and indirectly send all of you running to my defense, i chose to just let the story run it's course and not give the situation any real credence. i've already expressed
how i feel about people who talk shit from the invisible safety of their computer chairs. it really wasn't that big a deal. i was honestly surprised that so many people cared to talk about me at all...
but then after the dust settled, i came across some really kind blog comments from people who GET IT. many of which came from some of you with no prompting from me. i was really deeply touched. i just wanted to thank you all for being so supportive. none of these amazing things would be happening in my life without the love of you all, so THANK YOU.
in case some of you are still not clear on what i'm talking about, rather than direct you to the blogs where the negative comments came from, i'm going to send you to my dear friend allan's blog. he has always been very supportive of me in this process and he really shows his love with his thoughtful,
generous words.
again, thank you all for being there. i love you guys!
xoxoxo,
d.
