Last tuesday night @ Locals Only, Punk Rock had a legendary & historical night. Led by locals & ending with legends, it brought out Indy royalty. Tufty, BA, Dale Lawerance & others were there to watch the Vibrators celebrate 30 years in the game. Opening with blominton's Mouthbreather, not necessarily punk but definately rock, the evenings energy level grew to overload. Local heroes Up!Scumbag played next with they're usual set of blues inspired, heartbreak punk. Louisville's Dead City Rejects ripped through a too short set of midwest punk like only they can play. Japan, Tokyo's GitoGito Hustler, who came just to play with the headliner, tore through a high energy , fun filled pop/punk set. Cute & funny, but don't mistake that for schtick. these girls rock. You can see them , Monday October 1st @ the Underground, all ages, 16th & Delaware, Indianapolis.
Now...
the Vibrators. My friend Punkshots Tom told me earlier ths year he wanted to bring the Vibrators to town. i had heard them, never seen them & really hadn't paid much attention to there whereabouts in the scene. everything i heard about them was true. Old School Punk Rock like i've not seen in awhile. Lead Man Knox is 60 years old & like elder statesmen & ambassadors of Punk, they played & represented the genre & generation with a style & energy that should inspire kids for decades.
No, i don't talk or write like this, anyway...
