So while on the Opie and Anthony Show this morning, the guys called Joel "Mr. Mustache" Siegel himself, who got on the phone to discuss his disruptive "Clerks II" walk-out from Monday night's press screening. What follows is pretty fucking entertaining radio and a fascinating insight into the hubris that comes with being the "punny" movie critic on "Good Morning America".

Click on me and listen with a sense of wonder...

You know what I find funniest about the whole Joel Siegel fiasco?

How much he RAVES about Clerks, which seems entirely disingenuous considering it's explicit descriptions of Caitlin Bree f*cking a dead guy, but he's absolutely disgusted with the talk about a donkey show in Clerks II?

So, in Siegel's mind he has no problem with Necrophilia but Beastiality is somehow going too far?

My theory on this? Necrophilia is okay with him as he must recognize that Mr. Joel Siegel has the personality of a corpse. It gives him hope that one day he too might know a woman's touch. The only reason he seems to be so disgusted about the donkey show is because of a massive case of penis envy and the fact that a girl would rather screw a mule rather than go anywhere near his little moustachioed penis.

Well Mr. Siegel should really learn a lesson in this.... stop braying like a mule, be as silent as a corpse, otherwise he should just go f*ck himself.

I wish to extend congratulations regarding your latest film.

I am anxious to see it.  However, I will probably rent it after my term is over.  I'm quite busy for the next year and a half.  (In fact, I really shouldn't be on myspace right now!)

Ok, this news has nothing to do with this feud, but a new one that will happen, and remember you heard it from me first, lol.

Guess who just signed on to do the movie version of the play Sweeney Todd?  It is Mr I like to steal idea's from Kevin Smith movies himself, Tim Burton.

First he steals the idead for the ending of Planet of the apes from Smith's Chasing Dogma, now he goes one further and is set to direct the movie verson of sweeney Todd, play seen in Jersey Girls.

Oh, it's on.

I've never done anything like Siegel did but...

At the END of Alien 3 I stood up and said in a moderately loud voice "Well, that just sucked!"

Apparently the dozen or so people (still) in the theater were in agreement with me...

But never during the movie, what an ass.

Alright... it's obvious after listening to this that this guy's lost focus on reality- he gets paid to WATCH movies! Whether he likes them or not! So I say maybe he needs to find a new line of work.

Hmmm... if only there were a way to email Good Morning America and let them know that we like when our reviews come from individuals who actually WATCH the movies they review....

Hmmm... if only there were a way...

Way to go on the show, Kevin! Sounds like you really bitch slapped him. I've totally castrated people for less when I'm at the movies... and I had to pay 10 bucks!

The guy just does not get it.  Listen, I've been PAYING money to watch movies for 30 years (not getting paid) & I've seen some real shit movies (can anyone say "New York Minute"?), but I've NEVER walked out of one & I've NEVER created a scene.

For someone whose bread & butter is the film industry, you would think the guy would have more respect for a) his peers at the screening with him so that THEY can do THEIR jobs, & b) the movie-going experience as a whole.  Anyone who has ever seen a film like, say, "Star Wars" on the day of its re-release & been in a crowd that cheers when each character is introduced knows the experience is the reason you go to the theatre rather than rent the DVD.  Likewise, any person who has ever been in a movie where some jackass with six kids under the age of 9 lets them run wild while he talks on his cell phone knows that ANY distraction takes away from your enjoyment of the movie-going experience.

What an idiot.

Thank you for that...I, as well, pay out of pocket to see Movies and RE-View em...not because I am payed to but it's something I love doing. But no matter how bad...how gut wrenchingly bad...a movie is, I assume SOMEONE has to be enjoying their time there...so why ruin it for them?

I almost feel like Siegel wanted to start a train of poeple walking out right behind him....but, the cheese stands alone, as they say. "Siegel offered the "bird" by "flying the coop"...and now must eat "Crow" for being such a "DO DO" ...sorry, can;t do it like he can!

I thought it was great that he was totally unaware of who he was talking to.

He seemed frusterated, and a couple times, I thought "Uh ohh, they're teaming up on Joel!  And when that happens, Joel get's all fuckin Gangsta!"
But you were lucky, he stayed calm.

He still couldn't apologize though.  What a cock.

I like that part when you guys tell him that he is actually talking
to Kevin Smith. I want to see if he actually reviews Clerks 2
now or not. You made a good point though about you can't
review something that you haven't seen from beginning to end.

That's like if I walked out of Dusk til Dawn right when they got to the
Titty Twister...and then reviewing it as another Bank Robbers escaping
to Mexico movie. Kudos for standing up to the old man. I sort of feel
sorry for him...Not!!!

In my humble opinion, Entourage is one of the absolute best shows on TV. That said, I don't understand why they would use Kevin Smith as a negative sell on a movie. I get the Michael Bay-as-director-would-suck gag, but let's look at the context of the converstation Ari and Vince were having. Vince wanted more time before the Aqua-sequel started shooting, right? Then he should have been pumped that Kevin was writing it, since when Kevin writes a comic-to-movie script, it means that the studio will make him re-write it 30 times before finally scrapping him anyway.

At any rate, Kevin, you're one of the best writers today, and I love every movie you've made.

ABC Critic Siegel and Director Kevin Smith Clash Over 'Clerks II'

Today's (Wednesday) New York Post prints director Kevin Smith's online rant over ABC critic Joel Siegel's noisy departure from a press screening of Smith's Clerks II. According to the newspaper's "Page Six" column, Siegel rose from his seat 40 minutes into the movie and declared, "Time to go! ... First movie I've walked out of in 30 [expletive] years." In the scene in question the characters discuss hiring a woman to have sex with a donkey. Siegel described it as "foul and mean and repulsive." Smith responded on his MySpace blog, attacking Siegel's use of puns in his reviews and adding, "How about a little common [expletive] courtesy? You never, never disrupt a movie, simply because you don't like it. Cardinal rule of moviegoing: Shut your [expletive] mouth while the movie's playing." (Clerks received an eight-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival in May.)
