Tuesday, July 25, 2006
Looks like I'll be sitting in for Roger Ebert next week, as a guest critic on "Ebert and Roeper". Kind of a cool honor, I feel.

We'll be checking out "Miami Vice", "Ant Bully", "Talladega Nights", "Barnyard" and maybe (fingers crossed) "World Trade Center".

We'll be taping next week, just prior to the Chicago WizardCon. I'll let you know how it goes.

Has Ebert liked any of the ViewAskewniverse flicks?

Sorry I broke MySpace.

Ebert is generally a pretty big fan of the View Askewniverse flicks - the only VA movie he ever gave less than 3 stars to was "Mallrats".  He gave "Chasing Amy", "Dogma" and "Jersey Girl" 3 1/2 stars (the most he gives is 4) and he gave "Clerks" and "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" 3 stars.  (Unfortunately, he is recovering from heart surgery and has been unable to review "Clerks II".)That's part of the reason why he's one of my favorite critics, so I can see why Kevin considers it something of an honor to sit in his chair.

I stand corrected - Ebert did review Clerks II before heart surgery and gave it a "marginal" thumbs down, I guess meaning it was just on the edge of getting a thumbs up.  Listening to the review, it was almost like he hated to give it a thumbs down but felt he had to in his honest opinion.  Roeper gave it a thumbs up.

Curious to hear what you think of "World Trade Center."  I saw it last night.  Can't talk about it cuz I have a strict "24 hour" rule (don't talk about a film for a full 24 hours after viewing so that I don't let adrenaline get in the way of making sound decisions about what I say --- I learned my lesson with "Tomb Raider" on that one), but I'd love to hear what you have to say about it.

Also, Chicago!  Sweet deal.  Come visit a certain cafe that serves nothing but cereal....

I've caught bits and pieces of it on TV late at night when my son has kept me awake all night and there is nothing else on. While what I've seen hasn't been horrible (I've seen worst, i.e. War of the Worlds), it's definitely one of those movies that is way too overrated for its own good. Like Titanic. I'll never understand why people rave so much about it, at least.

....

For those of you who dont know Tila Tequila and Dirty Diva aka Ashley, they usually appear in the top 20 most popular blogs. Not because they write good material, but because of all those lame ass, atrocious perverts out there. Who have nothing better to do than whack off over their slutty pictures on the internet. Now that's impressive! As for Tila Tequila..for starters, it would help if you bought a shirt that actually fit, so you don't have to hold it together to cover up your cum-filled tits. And you could be a pretty girl, if you stayed true to your Asian culture. Your not supposed to have bleach blonde hair and blue eyes. And your low budget music video, where were all your admirers?? Seems to me, your the only one in your video. Hmm.. makes ya think. Why didn't you make a duet with Sean Paul, seeing as no one can understand a word either of you fucking say. As for Dirty Diva.. I don't even know where to start. Sure your a famous "wrestler" and I'm sure you got that way by screwing all the juice monkeys in the business. And I bet the whole world would be happy, if their career was based on a lie, where they did nothing but walk around, pretending they were important. Why didn't you take that money you wasted on your tits, and get a real education? Or better yet.. use that money to book a doctors appoint, before even your crabs get aids. Now..for both of you.. if your as famous as you appear to be. Why are you wasting your time on MySpace, showing off your fake breasts? By the looks of it, you probably have a handful of fans out there, that you don't need to be dragging 45 year old dirt bags off the internet. Than you probably bitch that too many moronic sleaze fags out there hit on you. For your information..your begging for it. So why don't you do yourself, as well as your families reputation a favor, and try being respectful to your womanhood... because I'm sure your making your Mothers real proud!!

I don't know about anyone else, but I had never heard of these two until now and reading this just makes me want to go look at their blogs. Cause, well, they are hot, afterall. So, thank you for exposing us to these two hotties.

But, chances are, that was your intention anyway. Because no one is honestly stupid enough to go round dumping on bloggers in other peoples blogs in an attempt to get people to boycott them. I'm betting you are either the boyfriend or friend of the two girls. This reeks of publicity stunt.

I guess seeing three, short, inconsequential Kevin Smith blogs of the "hey, this thing is happening at this time" clog up the top ten on the same day is slightly better than the same thing from porn stars and/or awful bands.

Either way, both are needlessly amped up to the top ten by zillions of comments.

Talladega Nights, to me, seems like the best bet because- Miami Vice-will fail to be memorable; Ant Bully-a rip off of Antz; Barnyard- can name 10 recent pixarish films with this whole madagascar theme; and WTC- I'd watch as a telly documentary- not an a theatre...Nick Cage? please- I have visions of that "It could happen to you" movie where he played a cop..
