I have to share my story about the day I met Cesar Millan. For all of you who don't know who he is, tune in to the National Geographic Channel on Fridays at 7pm. He is also known as the Dog Whisperer. On his show, he rehabilitates dogs and trains humans. He can make any dog a good dog. He is the Dog Whisperer.

Anyway, I found out that Cesar was coming to town by surfing on his website. I called my dad and said June 2nd we're going to go meet Cesar. Right away we were both totally excited. I was telling people that I was going to go meet him (most people had no idea who I was talking about) and even got a baby sitter for the day. My dad and I arrived about an hour and a half before it started. We got to meet a lot of nice people and their dogs. There were probably about three hundred people ahead of us. So we were pumped.

Eventually we made it inside Petco. We anxiously waited for our fifteen seconds with Cesar. I counted the people in front of me. Only four more before it was my turn. I kept thinking about what I was going to say and that I wanted to shake his hand. I couldn't wait to shake his hand! If by this point you haven't realized it, I am a big fan of Cesar's. I just think he is an amazing man with a very special talent. Just as I was playing it out in my mind...my phone rings. It was Nathaniel. Perfect timing. I answered the phone. "Hi honey. Boy did you ever call at a bad time." Nathaniel said he could let me go and I said not a chance. i told him what I was doing and why he called at a bad time, but I decided to stay on the phone with him.

The National Geographic rep takes my book to give to next gal and then to Cesar so he could sign it. I look at the guy and say "I'm on the phone with my husband who is in Iraq."

Finally its my turn to meet Cesar. The lady handing him the books says, "She's on the phone with her husband in Iraq." Cesar looks up and says, "Really?" I said, "Yeah." Next thing I know is Cesar is standing up and taking the phone out of my hand to talk to Nathaniel!!! How cool is that? Cesar Millan stood up to talk to my husband. He actually blew off one of the National Geographic guys who told him to move it along just to talk to my husband. Wow. What a nice guy I thought.

Wait a minute!!! My husband talked to Cesar. Not me. I never got to shake his hand. I stood a foot away from Cesar and all I said was "Thank you, Cesar." His respose, "No, Thank you." My husband jipped me out of my fifteen seconds with Cesar Millan.

Ok, so I didn't get to shake his hand. Yeah I'm bummed, but I thought it was a really great experience and I'm glad Nathaniel called when he did. Maybe I'll just have to fly out to LA and visit his Psychology Center for Dogs and shake his hand then.

Oh and one more thing. A news paper reporter noticed my encounter with Cesar and questioned my dad about it. So I might be in the Woodbury paper tomorrow. Yay.

:)

Wow! What a cool story. I'm sitting here at my computer desk while my two dogs lay on it (it's what they do when I'm on line) and I just read your story. It's so great that your husband got to talk to Cesar. I know (from working apperances of famous people at two different past jobs) that it is the "handler's" job to get people in and out as quickly as possible. For Cesar to take your phone and talk to Nathaniel that way, just shows what a terrific person he is. My husband is retired Navy, so I know how special it is for our military to get the attention they deserve. You are special!! Not many people get to have that kind of perk, even if you didn't get your handshake! I never did and I was usually working right next to them!
Good luck to you and your husband...and I hope he gets to come home soon!! Tell him we are proud of him for his service...and proud of you for being such a super military wife!!

Awesome! A few weeks ago my girlfriend and i got one of those DVRs so we can record tv shows. so was pumped because i would be able to watch all of his shows. the funny thing is i always watched his show but my girlfriend never even heard of him. so i told her lets order take out and watch the DOG WHISPERER. after we watched i asked if she liked the show? and she confessed the reason she didnt want to see it was because she thought it was about some kind of Native American fight movie! because of the name. now we are planning to buy tickets to one of his seminars in December in san antonio. sorry for the sloppy writing. anyways cool blog. i was directed here from the cesar millans website. peace!

It is a shame you never got to shake The Dog Whisperer's hand, but you must admit it is an awesome story. I love Cesar!

I think Cesar is absolutely fantastic too - his knowledge and use of energy is second to none. I admire him greatly! I wonder if he ever visits the Uk?!

Best Wishes,

That is such a cool story........I ran across your story browsing Cesar's website! My husband is also in the military and just returned from Iraq last year in Aug. We have three dogs right now and are always on the quest to rehabilitate them and train us! Would love to chat sometime......as a fellow Cesar fan and army wife. Was going to leave a longer comment, but duty calls. The baby is awake from her nap. Off to work. Thanks so much for the story. Take care.

I know you don't know me, but I'm a big fan of Cesar also. I think he is more of a human whisperer than the dogs. The dogs don't have a problem, the humans do. Anyway, it was great you got to meet him and good luck with your husband in Iraq. I hope he's home by now. Denise in Wisconsin

OMG that is so cool. I went and saw Cesar in Atlanta at his seminar and he was amazing. It was like we were in a classroom setting with him. You would not have known it was a civic center of thousands of people! Thanks to your hubby for all he does :o)

AMAZING! Cesar IS an amazing and talented guy! I only heard about dog whisperer maybe about a year ago, and seeing the episodes, I notice just how dominant my little chihuahua mix is lol.. So thanks to him we've seen the errors of our ways and we've been working with her

You're so lucky to be able to meet him! I, too, long to drop by the DPC! I wonder if he's ever been to Jersey's petco..... MAN... I'm so going if he ever does make an appearance (possibly "again")

I hope you and definitely your husband are doing well :3

That is totally awesome. I keep hoping that Ceasar will make it out my way sometime soon. It's nice to know that there are some role models out there that still believe in supporting our soldiers. My husband is in the Army right now, soon to be medically discharged, and has spent many tours overseas defending us. I'm glad that you both got to experience something that memoriable. My prayers shall be with you and your husband.
