When I want to define an idea, like Love, and to understand what it means... I go to the 'source'. Everything I believe, know and proclaim, is filtered through the Word of God. This is my source. The Bible, the infallible Word of God.

Let's talk about : love
Love has come to be a very misunderstood concept. We often mistake many feelings, emotions and interpretations to the word, Love that confuse the TRUTH about what God calls "Love".

There is no greater Love than the Love of God.
            He is the source of Love.
Love comes from Him, or we would never experience it... ever.   Because He is, we Love.

Love
Because He is Eternal... and He is Love... Love Never Fails!

God forms of Love:
koinonia - Christian fellowship or communion with God or with fellow Christians; said in particular of the early Christian community.
fellowship, family - an association of people who share common beliefs or activities; "the message was addressed not just to employees but to every member of the company family"; "the church *welcomed new members into its fellowship"
Agape - 1.the love of God or Christ for humankind. 2.the love of Christians for other persons, corresponding to the love of God for humankind. 3.unselfish love of one person for another without sexual implications; brotherly love.

What about "Tough Love" ???

Hebrews 12: 6-8
...because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son." Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons.

...as an emotion, has the power to lead you! And, where your heart is, your mind and life will follow. This is a CAUTION to us! The Bible wisely warns us that "the Love of money" is a root of all evil"! ....now would that be "Love" in Your eyes? I would call it Idolatry.

It needs to be explained that there are some 'things' that some of us use the term "Love" to describe, that are cloaked in the shadows of the definitions that play word games in our minds and lives. LOVE as a guise? Hmmm...

LOVE

One that makes me sad :(, because it misleads undiscerning minds, is a common statement that has become a banner for illicit Love, and is a misleading and inappropriate statement, "Love is Love". I'm sure that everyone knows that this is an obvious attempt to validate practicing a form of affection that attempts to cause us to... accept being illicit with Love. I am not trying to attack anyone here, just trying to get to the defination of true Love:

What we need, in order to embrace what is the highest truth about Love, to enable a greater freedom, and eliminate the ideologies that steal from what is perfect... is to see what perfect Love is.

love This is a scripture definition of the Love of God, which is the Highest form of Love. It's beginning and ending are with God and in Him, and come from the heart, mind and will of God. His Love is extended to this world, without repentance or grievous expectations, through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ.

Another thing about God's Love is it is so amazing... that even when He knows we have turned our affections elsewhere... He comes after us! His Love is jealous for us! See the following verse from Hosea:
Hosea 3:1
The LORD said to me, "Go, show your love to your wife again, though she is loved by another and is an adulteress. Love her as the LORD loves the Israelites, though they turn to other gods and love the sacred raisin cakes."

Do you know the Love of God? The Love of God is perfect. Perfect Love cast out all fear...
1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

If you haven't experienced it yet... You don't know what you are missing! Seek the Love of God in your life today... Ask Him to be your Lord and Savior... His Love for you- put Him on a cross, and you can trust that kind of Love.

"For God... so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him". John 3:16-17

To the rest of us who know Him... here are a few scriptures to refresh your Loving spirits:)
Jude 1:21
Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.
1 John 2: 4-6
4The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5But if anyone obeys his word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: 6Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.
1 John 4:7
[ God's Love and Ours ] Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

Jesus Christ is the Love of God. "In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. Ruth! I LOVE that you said "God loved us first and He will love us last"! --That is a first for my ears or eyes, lol. It is so true. Wow, everything you have said is "right on!"

"Love works for the good of all those who love God and Jesus Christ is the personification of His love for us..Christ was sent to us out of God's great love for us." --I just like quoting you so people can read it twice! lol!

this statement..."Once we let Jesus into our hearts..we can love others so much easier..even those who may not be as lovable in our eyes..We have to remember..because He loves us..we can love others." --this carries a huge weight of truth. One of the problems in the Church today is not enough devotion to God, the Word, prayer. How can we have His love in our hearts when we are constantly pursuing selfish gain?

Let's all remmeber that God's love is not unconditional. There are those God hates:

John 3:36

36"He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

Instantly he will be broken and there will be no healing.

Ricke, I have two points to draw out from your comments, and its that

*I want to tell you, Ricke, that God Hates the "sin"... not the people! He loves us!!! Even when we sin!!! He sent His Son to die for us, and He desires our repentence for our OWN good... and He treats us as beloved Children. Wrath is not hate! Wrath is anger. You can be angry and not Hate! You can be angry and still LOVE. God DOES! :)

(2)you wrote, "God's love come with conditions. First we must love jesus Christ and obey His commandments before God can love us!"
*I absolytely, whole heartedly disagree... God loved us FIRST! This is why He sent His Son! Sorry brother, but you have it backwards! I know you love the Lord Ricke, but He loves you More! And if you should fall into sin, He would come after you to try to deliver and save you!... His Love is UNCONDITIONAL!

I think you are confusing 'eternal salvation' with 'Love'! He, our Lord, will very sadly watch many who reject His Son go into eternal darkness... but not because He hates them... but because they did not choose Him EVEN WHEN HE LOVED THEM FIRST! That is one of the things that I wanted to clear up with this blog on Love. People confuse the meaning of WORDS!

Thanks for all the scriptural points. He is Holy and we are being made after His Image through the working out of our salvation.
He Loved us FIRST and His Love is Boundless! We can Love because He FIRST Loved us. That is the Love of a Father. And with that Fatherly Love there is discipline and correction... in Love of course! :) Blessings~Rainie

Thank you so much Mary! His Love is Power! Think of what a powerful force love is... There is an old song that says Love can bring a strong man to his knees! What affects the heart... affects the body and the mind. Then the whole man.
We do and give a lot in the Name of Love. They say that Love makes the world go round! That is powerful, but not as powerful as the Love of our God.

That's my Point Exactly!!! Thank you Kimmy!!! This American melting pot has had it's drawbacks in the language department, for sure! But I LOVE my country! lol! This is why I wanted to address this issue of LOVE!

It seems as though the debil is capitalizing on the confusion! I want to draw some LINES! For real... the youth of today have it real bad. Nothing means what it's supposed to mean! Bad is good, good is BAD! Luv is LOVE! No no no!

Thanks JP! :) I am SO glad you added these scriptures! My blog is getting more complete with each comment~ I especially love the contrast of the clanging symbol, compared to LOVE. We have all experienced some type of relationship/association that felt just as strident as a clanging symbol... I am putting this comment after yours..cause your default pic looks like my doggie...lol...I believe that it is important for us to band together..in churches...within families..or with just a couple other friends..to show God our deep love for Him....He is looking for people who are faithful to love....not to just show up for a service...or to throw a dollar or two in the plate...but to worship Him with gratitude ...without shame...and to honor His name daily...without fear of admonition from the opposition! We are the Champions of this cause for Jesus Christ...If we don't magnify His name...the very rocks will cry out..that is what His word says...So lets all declare our love for Him...as a body of believers!
