....but.......

to think that she has no one around her who will at least force her to take a BATH.......
is absolutely insane.

i adore her gift and talent.
and understand a human's right to do what they want.
and understand addictive nature....indeed.
but to see that she has no one on her side to at least make her take a BATH .........?

it hurt to witness such a thing.

I'm in the Uk at the moment.
here performing at the V Festival.
Amy performed today.......as well
as countless other artists and bands

it's one thing to watch her on the news or on YOUTUBE and another to witness up close and personal.

MAN!!!!!!!

I THANK GOD FOR PEOPLE IN MY LIFE WHO CARE..........WHO REALLY CARE!!!!!!!

i have never seen an ARTIST take the stage so FILTHY!!!!!!!!

it hurt my heart to know that nobody gave enough of a SHIT to at least tell that baby to get in the shower!!!!!

i don't care!!!!!!!

be as in the zone as you need to be, get ur life on.......but please, have someone who cares enough to say..........'bitch........get in the shower'.

a manager, a friend, a cousin, an assistant, a parent, a boyfriend, a girlfriend...........

i swear, my mouth was open...........the whole time.

i pray for her deliverance
i pray for her strength
and i pray that she comes out of this alive.

she is gifted...
she is destined to live out her fate
she is an artist
she is young
she is 'touched'
she is in the dark

i know
i relate....
and
i wish her the best....

but most,

i'm grateful for family and loved ones who actually
CARE and give a shit!

it means the world.

;)

Esthero said the same thing in a blog recently. This is what happens when you only surround yourself with "yes" people, in my opinion... I hope someone steps up for her.

It is a clear indication for a need to pray for musicians and singers everywhere.

Thank you for your bravery to share what you experienced.

I will definitely add her to my prayer list.

You are so many things we need on the musical landscape.

Thanks Rashaan.

rah I know exactly what you witnessed & how it hurt your heart. I experienced that feeling with an artist I love years ago. That artist is still with us & doing so much better today. So hopefully things will get better for amy & she'll be able continue sharing her gift with us & that sadness can pass.

Brother, I can understand having lived around this for a spell when I sang backup for P.H before her life ended too soon..., it's tough loving the gift so much you ignore the suffering of the one inside the gift... Your prayer is the BEST you can do.., and I join with you for LIGHT to break through that darkness.

I LOVE Amy Winehouse too... and it hurts me to see such horrible pictures & videos of her as well. I'm not sure what I would have done or said if she was in my surroundings... I might have been unable to bring myself to say what I thought to her if given the chance... or maybe if God lead me to reach out to her I would've ~ who knows... Nonetheless... it breaks my heart & I also pray for her.

Wow! OMG! My eyes started to tear up after reading this blog.. I see pictures of her posted, and it is so sad to me. She is just wasting away her life away. It sad that you have this woman with this great talent this great "instrument" that God has blessed her with, and she is just wasting her life away. It's a shame that she has nobody in her "camp" that step up to the plate, and address her issues. I agree she is in the dark, and I pray and hope that she does come out of this alive. It's so funny because she reminds me of a modern day Billie Holiday. After reading Billie's book that she co-wrote with William Dufty "Lady Sings The Blues". I got a full understanding on how easy people's addictive nature does kick in. How she (Billie) was exploited by men, people in the music business, the prejudice she encountered, and how she stuggled with heroin addiction for years, and in the end it took her life. The movie version with Diana Ross really does not really give you the full scope of things how things were really in Billie's life. It was horrible, and sad in some cases. I am so glad, so thankful that you have surrounded yourself with people like family, friends, and "fans" like little old "Me" that really do care, and really do love you. I shall keep Amy in my prayers everyday, and I hope she will be able to see the light, and come out of this alive. God bless you, and please stay safe.

Wow...... I'm in shock.... just reading how in shock you were. One can only hope that there will be an intervention that will be effective. She's got too much talent to let it all go to waste because of the train wreck that is her life. Hopefully she will let someone into her life that actually cares for her as a person, and not for because of her celebrity. Gotta tell you Rah, if she could only read your font..... and take heed.... cause she def need someone to bring it to her raw like that.

Man, you are not the only one who feels this way... I love me some Amy, but the chick needs a serious overhaul....She looks like pure D. hell...I bet there are small animals in that beehive of hers, and she looks like she smells really fonky..Not negating her talent, but she needs a bath-she needs to get in the shower, TARRY like the churchfolk until she's clean, then go get that hair disected and styled...And then, someone needs to lock her in the rehab until the coke, crack and whatever else she's addicted to is out of her system. Amy needs to realize that it doesn't matter how many fans she has (like us) that care about her, ultimately the ball is in her court to get her life straightened out...I really think sometimes she wants to be a tragic page in musical history....

I feel you so much Rahsaan, I love Amy's music and I agree she is so very talented, I have been praying for her every since they 1st said she was on drugs. I think her parents care for her and have tried to help her but it is hard if the person does not want your help and can't see that they have a problem. I think she is just out of control, only GOD can save her. Let's ALL keep Amy in our prayers.
Thanks 4 the blog Rahsaan, you are a sweetheart :)

I’m reserved about commenting on everything I read; however, after reading your post here, I couldn’t help but think of a quote from [Prince]. When [Prince] was inducted into the [Rock & Roll Hall of Fame] he made a statement to the artists standing on stage that night; and I quote, “People on your payroll are not your friends.” I admire you Rahsaan for being out-front and personable about this perception with Amy. There aren’t too many people who would have the [integrity and heart] to be so ‘publicly’ candid.
Someone needed to say this!

One of my personal motto’s: “Surround myself with people that enrich my life.” If they don’t, I’m moving the [F..] on.
It’s served me well over last few years…

Xzibit turned me onto her when he was in Europe for the Gumball Rally in '07 and I've loved her voice (on DAT, vinyl, CD, etc) since. BUT.... I went on YouTube very early before all this dramatic turn in her life and found raw videos where she was not making it then. Her live sets were quite awful and her interviews were far worse. Her hair I thought would be disgustingly dirty and now to read she really is - ALL OVER.
Rah, please tell me you were half as vocal to her as you were here?? If not, can someone post this BLOG on her site, in her email, to her physical mail address?!?! PLEASE!!

Keep the faith Rahsaan. Continue to stay strong and bring that azzz to B-more, ok DC too.

I just sent up a prayer in Amy's favor; that all her demons be bound and caste from her spirit. Not only pray for her, but young girls all over the world who are bound by the same destructive behavior, that not only they be set free, but that their life become a light to inspiration to all.

Thank you Rahsaan for sharing; I feel the concern in your post.

Thats unbeleivable!!! I am tripping off all the images thrown all around of Amy. I have seen only pictures & video, but seeing up close has to be traumatic when you have a heart. Its sad that society likes to watch such a tragedy & see a person at a low point in life.

Once again Rah you have stated the obvious and God bless you for that! It's time that people took notice of the serious problem that this woman has. She is a runaway train with no-one looking out for her. You guys have probably not seen the photographs of her walking around the streets in her underwear in the middle of the night! Someone needs to take control or we will have another Janis Joplin tragedy on our hands! Amy is one very gifted songwriter and we all need to pray that she soon gets the help she so obviously needs.

I wonder if sometimes folks are so interested in the money that they aren't interested in the person. Of course, even then it would behoove them to try and keep her on track. Maybe folks in her circle are afraid of offending her and having her tell them to get lost.

Also, I'm not sure it's your place to tell her or how effective it would be, you'd likely be talking to her addiction and not her. She does need people who care to to persist in intervention, no matter how many attempts it may take. Cause her best shot at hearing or caring what anybody says will require her to get some measure of sobriety/sanity. And I don't take that position from something I read in some book.

It's extremely sad because when one is in pain inside, there's no amount of fame or fortune that can destroy the demon of addiction that's based on not being at ease with one's self = dis - ease.

At the very least, her advantage is that she has finances and can go into a fancy, schmancy rehab instead of being put on a waiting list or told to come back when there's a bed available, STILL, she has to want to go, then she has to want the help that's being offered.

Cause truly, addiction knows no age, race, economic status, moral character (it's happens to the best of folk) and it's a miserable existence that folks are very blessed IF they survive.

Yes someone needs to help her out .Sometimes we think we have friends and family who care. In this situation that is not the case. If she did this would not continue to happen. She really needs to stop performing for a while to get herself together, really... I am so thnakful for the people in my circle.I hope that when she gets it together, and she will, that she becomes more insightful about who really cares for her and who does'nt and seperates her self for the influences that she has now.
Rah I would have had to tell her! Somebody needs too!
