In ten years of illustrating Star Wars for Lucasfilm and their licensees (actually, I started in November of 1996 for the Star Wars RPG) I've drawn a lot of Episode IV related images but had yet to create a piece of artwork solely representing that film and it's main characters. Seeing Star Wars as a small child in 1977 is the primary reason I'm an artist today. It gave me purpose, it inspired me to become an illustrator and a comic book artist and to someday draw Star Wars art professionally. With this year marking the 30th Anniversary of "A New Hope" and the Star Wars saga I wanted to create a piece of artwork that I guess you could say would be my love letter to my favorite film of all time. This is just a preview of the pencil art but I hope everyone likes it so far -
*The artwork has been removed per request of Lucasfilm but check out the official site, Star Wars.com, for a preview of the final color artwork soon.*This will be available as a *full color*, limited edition (of 250) print at my table in the Art Show for
Star Wars Celebration IV this May 24th - 28th in Los Angeles, CA.
I'll have more info on the final print dimensions, price, etc. so stay tuned and check out my official site for more news on Celebration IV and for a look at the final artwork soon.
Thanks!
