yo sez:
So I went out shopping this weekend, and saw Mattel's new 3¾" DC figures at Toys R Us and Target - single-packs at TRU, and three-packs at Target. You may remember me complaining about these things when they were unveiled at Toy Fair, saying that they were wastes of plastic. Now that the things are out and I've seen them in person, has my opinion changed?
No, not a bit.
I really wanted these to be good figures. The idea is a good one - make smaller, more affordable DC toys that can come out at a faster pace - but the execution just sucks. We've seen the Four Horsemen create top-notch DC figures, and these things are just pale imitations.
They're poorly proportioned, with hands larger than their entire heads. They're under-articulated, even by normal 3¾" standards. And finally, the paint is just too shiny, completing the trifecta of failure. We've seen better - we deserve better. And hey, on top of that? A single figure costs $7. Thanks, Mattel!
The character selection for Infinite Heroes is impressive, but the toys fall way short. While I wish the final product had proved me wrong, what we saw at Toy Fair is exactly what we got: an idea that should have been shut down before it got this far. Save your money, and don't get sucked into buying these just because you haven't been able to pick up any new DC toys in a while. It's up to you to vote with your wallet, and these just aren't worth it. These are wastes of plastic, wastes of shelf space, and wastes of time.
Mattel's DC Universe Infinite Heroes: made of fail...
