JUST KIDDING, it's working now haha..
I definitely think she's sending the right message. She's sticking up for what she believes in, and I think more girls need to do that.

See, what Nancy is doing is not only to help plus
size
girls to feel more comfortable with who they are, she's sending the message for ALL people to feel good with who they are. You've got women like the anorexic lady above losing weight to be somebody she probably isn't. And then you have women like Nancy, who look for ways to better who they are already, because they know what they want, and if someone is not satisfied with who that person is, then it's not worth it. Yeah, health is very important in this situation, but why is it bad to be plus
size
d? I think Nancy is still unbelievably gorgeous thick, and actually, that's how I prefer women to be. Not toothpicks. No, but with curves that give you a shape.

Definitely NOT. I think that there should be some type of happy medium. We need to be instilling in young women the right qualities, and the correct ways to take care of their bodies! Anorexia and eating disorders...to be "stick-thin" is NOT healthy...and not okay. It is a slow suicide. But then again, being overweight..and eating a bunch of junk, clogging your arteries...giving yourself a higher risk of heart attacks, strokes, etc....is NOT GOOD EITHER! We should be promoting bodies like Cameron Diaz...or Jennifer Aniston! She is my favorite. She is healthy, and in shape! Not skinny, and not over her weight either...
Lets promote health and fitness! The healthy body should be the new look!

you do know that some people, even if they work out, still look like Nancy? Me, for instance? I don't overeat, I work out, but I still look like her- so, I think you should really think before saying that the "healthy" body should be the new look. She's made it clear that she basicallyd oesn't overeat and she probably works out too. So, I'm just saying, think a bit more before saying something like that.
But for this blog- I think that she's promoting exactly the right kind of look! She inspired me, and I was feeling kinda low today- but I look like her! Only I'm a bit taller. xD But, she's my new inspiration.

hmm, well I'm fine with that. i just think eversince were litte, we are conditioend to think FAT=BAD. SKINNY=GOOD. in part because of media, and in part because of health. you hear many health problems due to "people being fat". i gues people are just uneducated on healthy eating habits. i just finshed a whole chapter on that in science, and i was shocked at how unhealthy i can eat. there's a fine line between healthy eating&fitness habits and being curvy. to non healthy eating&fitness habits. i remember when i was like 7. i was watching a talk show and saw this thing on "big" models. and this one model said "if i wanna eat 4 burgers, i will! if i wanna eat 7, i will!" she wasn't giving me the right message, she should of mention soemthign about being healthy. if you were born with curves, flaunt them! what would the world be like if we all looked the same?<p>holllllllller

i think that this is a great statement. girls are so concerned nowadays with their body types. i think that this shows that you can be plus <myspace>size</myspace> and still beautiful. anorexia is a huge issue, and has devastating effects on women of all ages. many girls go to extremes to have the "perfect body". and its just so sad that this is what it has come to. what is the perfect body anyways?

To start off, I hope no one replies to my comment saying "Look at you, you're fat!" I know I'm overweight, but I'm doing something about it. I'm eating very healthy now and working out every day.
I think "Love Your Body" is the right message, but what she is doing isn't loving her body as far as I can see. I'm all for the curvy thing, I'm a pretty curvy girl myself. It's just that she's very heavy and posing with a lollypop looks to me like she's saying "Eat whatever you want! It's fine!" But when you're so overweight, "loving your body" should mean taking care of it by getting healthier.

i totally agree. posing with the lollipop is a little much, but the whole "love your body" thing is right on.
every body is different. some people eat a lot, and don't gain anything. some people don't eat, and gain a lot. i only wish people wouldn't put such a standard on body types.

I think that her point is definitely valid. We SHOULD all love our bodies, but that isn't to say we should disregard our personal health. I thought it was good that she wasn't trying to gain weight...
Women come in all shapes and <myspace>size</myspace>s; the media should recognize that FULLY....even if it means a "controversial" photograph of a larger woman.

ok...so I agree 100% with Nancy the plus-<myspace>size</myspace>d model! She give someone like me motivation to stop striving to have the perfect body, and just accept myelf for who i am. I love how she quoted, "I wanted to create controversy. I think thats important to get it out there." because it shows that she isn't afraid to take a stand on what she believes in. Also for her to pose nude shows that she has enough respect for herself to be naked but still promote a positive message!

I think she's sending a great message. She's telling women to support their curves, something that the celebrities don't do like they used to so women (and men!) are self conscious when they DO have curves! She's just telling everyone to love themselves no matter how big you might be and not to fall into the trap of feeling like you HAVE to be super thin like most models are. I think that's awesome!

Wow, that is pretty crazy. And where did the anorexia ad come from?
I think it's great that she is comfortable with her body and that she wants other woman to feel the same way. But at the same time I hate it when people completely bash the modeling industry out there and talk badly about thin models. Now don't get me wrong, I definitely dont think girls should be unhappy and turn to eating disorders just to stay thin, but I think that just because youre a smaller girl out there it shouldnt matter. If those models are happy with their bodies and happy being thin (as long as they are healthy), then its their business. Just like Nancy is saying, as long as you love your body, then it shouldnt matter. I dont think she is sending the right message..

I dont think that Nancy is trying to be malicious or meen. But I also dont agree with the way she is putting herself out there. You need to respect your body, I know how it is to be a "big" girl, I embrace it but I do it in a classy way, I dont expose myself I show people that its not a terrible thing to big, but I also dont think its okayy to be ultra stick thin either. I agree with the person who posted that there should be a happy MEd. meaning that you as in yourself should be happy with who you are and the skin you are in! The effort is there but I dont think she understands that she is almost putting a bad name out for full figured ladies who like to ba sexy and not skanky.

Although I agree with part of a user's comment about eating to much or not eating at all is UNhealthy, but as far as promoting certain celebrities. Not everyone is of that certain height and frame. Like Nancy said, she doesn't want to eat just to get fat. That's just how she came to be at this moment and it's really great for someone of her figure to be sincerely happy about being in her own skin. And that's the message I saw. I, myself would love to be comfortable in my own skin.

Hey Atoosa,
I think the message Nancy is sending is a great one. She believes that one should be confident in their body and confidence is what some girls need. However, I don't think that it is healthy for her body. She is obviously unhealthy and showing young girls that it's okay to be large can cause a bad thing in our world. It could lead to obesity in younger girls. I know she is portraying that it's good to be confident, and she's right...but heavier girls aren't always viewed as beautiful...they actually get made fun of more in school, work, or at home. The message of confidence is an amazing message, but the message of being heavy is scary.
Thank you,
Brooke.

I think she's beautiful, & I love how bold she is!
I'm seeing a lot of comments from people suggesting that this model is promoting an unhealthy life<myspace>style</myspace>, like she's saying "Over-eating is okay!" But the truth is, not every girl who is bigger proportioned got there by eating too much or not moving enough- some just carry the weight in different places, & I think that saying she's "promoting something unhealthy" is to judge her- because it's ASSUMING she's big JUST because she's not taking care of herself. That may factor into it, but how do we know?
Girls need to learn, whatever shape you are is beautiful, it doesn't have to be the cookie cutter image.

I think if anyone wants to go into modeling they should be healthy. I never liked models until I started watching America's Next Top Model hosted by Tyra Banks. She supports skinny and plus-<myspace>size</myspace>d models. But she wants all her girls to be in the best shape possible. Tyra is an amazing person and I think she pushes models to be healthy and fit. I agree with Nancy and I disagree with her. It is important to love yourself but at the same time its not healthy to be obese. People die from obesity and if she wants to promote that fine but more people will die. These models need to start promoting living a healthier life<myspace>style</myspace>. Don't starve yourself, don't eat too much! Work out regularly and eat healthy!

Of course she is sending the right message! I am 5'6 and currently 143 pounds, which is not over weight for me, however I did used to be 125. And it this transition has been so hard for me. I wake up every morning telling myself I look disgusting because of my curvy body, and shows like America's Next Top Model DO NOT help. They say a plus-<myspace>size</myspace>d girl is a 7 or 9? Are you kidding me? Also Janice Dickinson makes me sick, how she is always so negative about the plus <myspace>size</myspace>d girls. Skinny became popular I'd say with Twiggy in the 60's and being that skinny is wrong, disgusting, and unhealthy. Now I don't believe Nancy is saying "Hey eat all the junk you want and get fat," she is saying that she is happy in her skin and wants others to be. She is trying to be a good role-model. I say props to her and thank you, because it makes me feel a little bit better about my curvy body!

I do believe that she is trusting her gut and doing what is right for her. I agree with the message because she also said in the interview that she doesn't believe in eating just to get fat. While I don't agree with everything Nancy has to say, she is beautiful and I believe her message is positive for young girls. It is much healthier to look like Nancy than the anorexic model on the left. I don't think Nancy is necessarily unhealthy or even overweight. I think the media, and today's actresses and models have warped our perceptions of what is considered beautiful and what is a "normal" weight. Her body is similar to Marilyn Monroe's and other starlets of the 1950's, many of which we would consider "fat" by today's standards.

I think theres a line between being healthy, and making a statement.
Being overweight, and being proud of it is one thing, its good to accept your body, but if it puts you at a health risk, then it can have devastating consequences.
Being overweight is not a good thing.
Being stick thin, is not a good thing.
Being HEALTHY is.
I love how she feels confident enough to do that, and I see shes making a very good statement, but discouraging other women to not lose any health-risking weight is just as bad as posing 78 lbs and convincing other women they should do the same.

I'm not sure if she is sending the right message. It's one thing to not be a <myspace>size</myspace> 2... but I don't think it's okay to be overweight. I do think you should always love your body though. I know I don't always love my body, but for the most part I do. We will all have those days days where we don't like how we look. But I don't know if the model should have just taken off her clothes and said it's okay to be overweight. It's a hard thing to judge though.

I think that it is right for the purpose of trying to put to a hult the anorexic image in the modeling industry, but people need to learn that there can be life without extremities. She is correct that we are judged by either "too this" or "too that", and that is what I belive needs to be changed. There is a healthy body for each of us but none should be anorexic or obese.

I think that Nancy is sending a positive message to women about confidence and self love. It's important to be comfortable with yourself, yet it is one of the most difficult things for girls and women to achieve. I don't feel that she is portraying a negative image; she has a little extra going on, which is what the majority of the country has too! By no means do I think that she looks unhealthy and/or obese. I feel that we should all strive to live healthfully, but that we should also accept what God gave us and make the most of it!

I don't agree with everything she says but essentially she is sending a decent message. A better message would be to tell girls to love and take care of their bodies. I'm 5'3 I weigh about 140 and my measurements are 36 27 38. I'm a softball player and in good shape but I'm naturally very curvy. My bestfriend is 5'10 and weighs about the same as I do but she's a runner and has always been thin. Softball players usually have thicker bodies and runners have slimmer bodies. It all depends on what we are born with and what activities we do in our lives that determines our body shape and <myspace>size</myspace>. We should all love what we have whether we're short, tall, thin or thick and we should never strive to be anything but healthy and happy.

she's just saying that whatever you are, be happy with.
thats the best way to be!

yay! someone who understands everything I go thru!
I hate being really skinny, and I'm TRYING to gain weight, I'm healthy, and I run, but I could still use some more curves.
I hate how everyone tries to "encourage" you to get "healthy" (as long as you're eating right, and working out, whatever shape you are is basically your genetic makeup, so I don't really need to be "healthier") by telling you you look disgusting, and youre not feminine, and all that jazz.
No one wants to be told they'll be beautiful if they lose twenty pounds, and I don't wanna be told I'll be beautiful if I gain 20 pounds.
(a little off subject, but after reading laurens opinion I figured I would bring that up..)
I'm not purposely starving myself, and I have never counted calories, *not because I'm skinny, but because I've always thought it was a silly obsession* I've always loved my body because its how I am, but lately, what with more developed friends, (I'm only 15, and I'm 31 26 35) and annoying comments, and the whole "being curvy is better" thing, I've been getting a little more self conscious.
So yeah, I guess I agree with nancy with the loving your body point, and, no I'm not anorexic and have any eating disorders like shes against, and I know she would have no problem with me, but I think in a way, people are going to look at skinny girls as being the "ugly" ones nows...but I know thats not what shes doing of course, but again, after reading laurens comment I felt the need to bring that up.

I think that she's sending the right message out there to young girls that look up to models. When girls who started looking at fashion magazines or runways on tv, they normally see models that are skinny or consider anorexia. As for the most average girls around the states or around the world, girls just want to be like them. Due to the media. No matter it's from magazines, tv, movies, commercials and ads most of the actresses/models are slim, so they'll think that, that's what people should look like and be portrayed as. These average girls might not be skinny, slim or fit. They might be the opposite and having people teasing them calling them 'big', 'fat', 'hippo', 'pig' etc... which is really hurtful, so because of the media showing "SKINNY" is the trend, most girls starts to starve themselves or use other ways to get their weight down. Which is not the ideal way to do.
Nancy, is definitely sending a right message out there to girls and women not to feel bad and sad about themselves because they're not slim, skinny or fit. Big girls can too feel good about themselves. She's sending a message out there saying that big girls are curvy, fun and sexy! She's not presenting that everyone should go big but should stay healthy. She did mention that she's not going to eat and eat just to go bigger. As long as girls out there feels that they are healthy, sexy and fun then why lose the weight and go to the other side.
As you can see, 2 posters.. The colors are completely different. The anorexic model obviously is miserable. She might just be in her 20's because of anorexia she looks like a granny. The background color is based on black fading to gray. Nothing else is added in there. As for Nancy's poster, it's colorful because of the candy which also represents curvy girls are fun and the way she posed, feels like she's giving a tease and she's comfortable being sexy. Also, the background is more light color than the other poster.
Everyone should love what god created. No matter the person is slim, fit, fat, tall or short people shouldn't listen to what other morons are saying to them.
Don't let others to pull down because the ones who says all those things are the people who are insecure and don't love themselves.
PS: Atoosa, I hope you'll read this. Sorry that it's kind of long.

i beleive that women are beautiful when they are healthy! When they are healthy they believe in themselves which in the end makes them BEAUTIFUL! This is my opinion ...this maybe only how I feel about this issue because when im healthy i have confidence and BELIEVE in myself!

watched the video and i have to say its really a relief that not EVERYONE looks for skinny model i myself am not skinny nor am i plus <myspace>size</myspace> but it was nice to see that women that arent a <myspace>size</myspace> 2 can be sexy. It's amazing on how fashion has been changing over the years.
When i saw the anorexia poster i literally went out and got myself a sandwich i mean its a real tough disorder to overcome and once you start you can't stop.
it IS controversial but i think its necessary that she did it. I mean not only is she not the 'standard' model that we always see but see also very successful if she's written books as well.
I believe this could be a breakthorugh for fashion and for new opportunities for women or even men out there
***Also watch the movie 'Phat Girlz' it relates to this simillar situation***

I think its the perfect message to send. It shows you dont have to be sickly thin to be gorgeous. More power to her for being able to pose naked and be comfortable in her <myspace>size</myspace>.

I think this is a great message. Girls shouldnt try to be big and eat unhealthily, but they should just love the way they are. Anorexic looking girls are disgusting and almost all guys i know dont find stick thin girls attractive. If your just confident the way you are, thats all that matters.

This girl is sending the right message in an inappropriate way.
Yes, she's proving her point by showing off her body (even though
it may not be perfect), but she doesn't have to take bascially nude
pictures to show it off. She could've done it in a better way.

Good for her, there are so many images out there of "perfection" when in reality , there is no such thing as pefection. I think It messes with girls, and womens minds, i know it did mine. As for young girls trying to "emulate" her, come on now, thin will always be "in", and there is nothing wrong with putting some diversity out there, and letting people know that they dont have to be "perfect" to be loved or desired, casue thats what it all comes down to doest it? Good for her :) I would definetely say she qualifies as an Alpha Kitty !

i think we should be telling girls to be at a healthy weight. i dont think plus <myspace>size</myspace> is healthy and i dont think anoreixic is healthy either, somewhere in the middle, like beyonce or cameron diaz or salma hayek, they are all different <myspace>size</myspace>s but you know they are healthy.
but, i do respect nancy for doing this. shes standing up for what she believes in and i think thats great. :]
