Last night, driving home from Alexandria, VA - I got extremely tired.
When I was 17, I learned my lesson about falling asleep at the wheel - so I now pull over any time my eyelids get heavy.
I stopped for about 2 hours and got a little snooze in... and when i woke up, I headed to a gas station to get some water and use the "ladies"...

On my way in, Cop 1 (on left) held the door for me and asked, "how are you?"
me: "oh, tired..."
1: "why are you tired?"
me: "well, (looking at my watch - 4 am!)... it's late!"

So then i went to the "ladies", got a water and some skittles ;) (i thought sugar might help me me awake too)... and when i got back outside, cop 1 asked, "Where do you work?"
me: "i'm a singer..."
1: "where do you sing"
me: "all over the place... from Honolulu to NYC..."
1: "so, do are you going to sing us a song?"
pause... (you see, i can NEVER turn down the suggestion to sing a song!)
me: "ok! let me get my ukulele!"

So I go to my car and get the uke... the case is at my feet, closed, and Cop 2 comes over while I'm singing and opens it up and says, "you should play for $"!

Cop 1 then pulled a fiver ($5) out and put it in the case! :)

Gas Station owner came out and said he'd come find me on myspace... he did, this morning ;)

and the cops emailed me this picture of them from last night!
what can I say... cops obviously dig chics with ukuleles ;)

Those guys are cute!!!! It looks like the one on the right is smoking a joint. CIA stash probably.

I think of you often... and love to keep up with your blogs. I like the one about reading the directions on how to apply deoderant. I bet you still think "six circular swipes" every time you apply.

Love you!!

I agree with Otto, if that'd been me after Moondancer, I'd be on the ground, spread. I wonder what they think of your driving while Uking video? You sure have the most bizarre experiences!

Great story. At least you can offer tangible proof of your profession. How does someone who's a nuclear physicist prove it, if they get pulled over?

What fun! Thanks for keeping yourself safe by not driving when you're sleepy! I'd hate to lose a friend to the angel of death as he goes pummeling down I-95 in his Humvee!

Those are the either the coolest cops I've ever heard of, or you're the coolest ukechick ever... or maybe a lot of both!

I wish you'd come to the Boise area (and by that I mean actually Boise, since the rest of Idaho is a pit!)

You bring out the good (and suppress the busting-urge) in everyone.
