Current mood: enthralled
Little Jimmy Dickens and I walked into the Opry together. He didn't know who I was when he was walking in with me. (But I pretended he did.) He moved his own parking cone in the Opry parking lot to park his truck too. I just cant tell you all how each second of that day was the most surreal seconds of anyday I have ever felt! It was like a fairy tale. I even wore my poofy fairy tail dress. Members of the Opry were just roaming the green halls backstage and I even had my own dressing room! It was dressing room 9. I walked in and it looked like a movie stars room because of all of the flowers I got from my family. My mom planted flowers in my old singing cowgirl boots we bought from Walmart. She also had my first outfit I ever sang in. It was so teeny! ( I think we got it at walmart too.) I ended up doing some interviews backstage and then had to get ready for my big debut! I wore my hair big and I wore some party lashes too. I did my own make up and hair and I was proud. We practiced with the house opry band and it was the most nervous I had ever been with my fellow musicians. Hugh was such a professional and I was so proud at how he handled himself with all of those big time players! As we got ready to walk out on stage for the first show at 6:30, Little Jimmy Dickens welcomed me to the stage. (Hr gave me the slip he had to read off of too) As I walked out, I had never felt that ind of feeling before. The moment I waved to the audience, I felt like I was waving for the first time ever. The feeling was authentic as rain.
I will never foget this day. We sand 'Rocks in your Shoes' and 'Mississippi's Cryin' I couldn't leave the old circle the first show because that's where EVERYONE has stood. Like I said it was a Country n Western Fairy tale. It was a dream come true for me and I was invited back, so I get to experience this all over again!!!
Little Jimmy Dickens kissed my hand too.
The end.
