Ah, the internet. It's early and I've been surfing. I want to sleep and instead I find myself chain smoking in the cold on my patio with some sort of hail/rain/verge of snow thing starting (which can't be good for my laptop). Things are settling down from life on the road and bustling about with holiday fever. Oh my.
We had a blast on this last round of dates and I busted out a new guitar which fortunately, since my hearing is in suckville, I missed all the clams I probably made now that I'm amplified and electrified and all that. Muy fun.
After 15 rounds of laundry and stringing of the lights, I am now officially off the road and still up at 6am. Reconciliation of home life and road life please come to the information desk. Thank god for Sopranos, although I'm up to season 5 now and have to start a backup plan because I only have one season to go and shist if I know what I'll do then. Superficial troubles please come to the information desk.
What I'd like to do today is really wish all of you a truly HAPPY HAPPY holiday and say how appreciative and grateful me be for all of your support this past year and especially over these tours. Slews of you came out and cheered and cried and leered and it makes a gal feel good I say. 'The Low Anthem' kicked some arse as well and I'm truly inspired to learn the drums, clarinet, horn, pump organ, upright bass and bowl (whatever that thing was) now after seeing them.
And now that the stir of road life starts to quiet and I roam the streets and reconnect, all that I hope for everyone is to find some peace and I will say it – holiday cheer. Of course no one has any money, we all know that , but hopefully there is a way to remember all the truly vital things existing for us right now and indeed how lucky we are. If my forte is love (or the lack thereof hahaha) – may I just say how much I hope for you to have it and not be crushed if you don't right now. We are surrounded by the potential to give love everyday and cooonnnneeeccccttt with one another. So plod on, I'm rooting for you.
It's time to go take out the trash (I've stopped the philosophy – now I'm just being literal) so I'll bid you all a good good night/ morning. Heaps of love to you all and I'll see you next year…

Have you finished all the seasons of the Sopranos now?

I know that feeling of getting at that last season and feeling a bit lost...It's quite disturbing.

Then you need to find a new exciting show but that might just dissapoint you cause it won't be like the show you were in love with for months.

Grey's Anatomy is interesting. Have you seen that? Although I'm at the fourth season now and the storyline could use a new direction. But it's a good show to start with after the Sopranos...

xoxo

God! Morning. Didn't sleep well. Still feeling the after effects of Pomegranate Bellini's NY's Eve 2 days later. Oooo. They were soooooooooo pretty with all those pomegranate seeds and lime slices and fresh mint...and Champagne.

I might just toss reciting the recipe.

Enough!

when you're done with the Sopranos (how much will you pay me to NOT tell you what happens?) watch ONCE, if you haven't already, like I told you before!! It's amazing.
Let me know how you like it!

hey there girly

In a weird sleep pattern myself.
Since i'm off work for the holidays and there's no need to get up at 6am for a while i find that's about the time to go to bed instead!
Hope you have a great xmas, and congrats on finally getting the record out to the world, it was totally worth the wait.
Looking forward to you returning to this side of the pond next year

Oh, and I'd go with The Wire once you're done - best show ever on TV.....well, maybe not season 2, but other than that!

be well
peace and love

Deep thoughts... Funny thing about reading your blog today. I was thinking about you this morning when one of your songs popped up on Pandora. I think I had it set to a Feist radio station. Anyway, I was thinking about the few artists I do have on my friends list, and I was thinking, how cool it is that out of all the artists I have on my list I have not only met them, but had actual conversations with them. I had never really thought about that before. We've met. It was brief and after a show at Schuba's and you were wearing "the" worst shoes to try to stand up in for an entire show, but you loved 'em! Long story short, I thought of you this morning. I hope your holidays are wonderous, beautiful, and mostly inspiring. (oh, and if I could, I would totally slap you on the wrist for your chain smoking.
seriously, girl!)

15 rounds of laundry? You're such a girly girl to have so much stuff to wash, but that was a sweet holiday wish nevertheless. Right back at you, and go check the new holiday vid, courtesy of the BBC, I stuck on my MySpace page for a Ho or two or three.... -Bernie

Hey Rachael,

That was a great post. Thank you for making my 2008 even better by coming up to Toronto to perform twice (last week and earlier this year with Sara Bareilles) and releasing an amazing, kick-ass album. I hope you and your loved ones have a happy holidays.

Much love,
