Well... only one month out, and things are looking up! Way, way up - as in "outer space" and uncharted territory! So set your phasers to stun, and let's see what the EC CREW is up to... |
TO BOLDLY GO WHERE NO BAND HAS GONE BEFORE!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Electric Crush in STAR TREK MOVIE STAR TREK 'Of Gods and Men' The Hollywood gossip is true! And while the tinsel town rumor mills were turning out some fantastic tales... Electric Crush was just learning of its rendezvous with deep space, aliens and the fanatical Star Trek community.
On the heels of their triumphant debut at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota, the offices of Electric Crush were contacted by the Film Crew of STAR TREK 'Of Gods and Men' regarding an Electric Crush appearance in the movie, as well as a new video shoot of their song 'Taking Away'. The new music video would be shot in tandum with the final scenes of the new movie, and would incorporate the actual STAR TREK sets at "secret" undisclosed locations in Los Angeles.
As it turns out, some members of the TREK crew were involved in the filming of a DVD project documenting the concert at Sturgis. The film crew, along with Adam Gaynor of 'Matchbox Twenty' interviewed Electric Crush several times during the five day event, and shot footage of an Electric Crush performance for the national DVD release of the Rock N The Rally concert. Apparently members of the film crew which included Irish filmmaker Tristan Barnard, we're also involved in the production of the 40th Anniversary STAR TREK movie entitled 'Of Gods and Men', which is to air as a three part mini series over the Internet December of 2006. |
HOLLYWOOD RUMORS FLY
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hollywood Insider Leaks Story to the Press - Is It True? No secret is safe in Hollywood... and it didn't take long for the Electric Crush story to hit the LA streets and make it's way to the STAR TREK community at large, whose fans number in the millions. While shooting schedules were still being discussed between Electric Crush and the movie production company, reporters from Hollywood and the Star Trek community began calling to verify the story. As rumor had it, Electric Crush was to be filmed for the 2008 Paramount Pictures release of STAR TREK XI, which is still in pre-production. This of course was more than a bit confusing to Star Trek XI composer Mike Giacchino, who claimed that he wouldn't start working on the score for quite some time. And, equally puzzling since the "Official" STAR TREK movies released by Paramount NEVER use bands... it's all orchestra music.
Of course, all of this is music to the ears of Electric Crush, who is benefiting from the controversy... the exposure from the rumors alone have been priceless. So... it is a tale of two movies and one band. STAR TREK XI - a multi-million dollar epic, slated for release in 2008, STAR TREK 'Of Gods and Men', a made for T.V. movie celebrating 40 years of Star Trek, and of course, caught pleasantly in the middle - Electric Crush.
While STAR TREK 'Of Gods and Men' is not the multi- million dollar blockbuster of 2008 - it is a great Star Trek movie which celebrates 40 years of the iconic franchise and a great opportunity for Electric Crush. 'Of Gods and Men' was written and directed by veteran Star Trek writers and includes a star- studded cast of official Star Trek actors from all the various Trek movies including members of the original 1966 television series, coming back to reprise their roles in a "post Captain Kirk" era.
