This will give you eye-boners: http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/ironman/

I went to see Van Halen rehearse last night. They were fucking amazing (ear-boners).
Seriously, the hair on my arms was standing up. Dave sang great, Eddie was shredding, Alex is a fucking monster and Wolf was perfect. Great on bass and hit every high note. The set list was 2 1/2 hours of the best shit. I'm The One, Atomic Punk, Romeo Delight, Somebody Get Me A Doctor, Mean Street, Unchained and so many more. Do whatever you gotta do to get tix to see this. FINALLY!!!!! A real full blown arena rock act!!!!! It's like listening to the soundtrack of America since 1978. THE KINGS ARE BACK!!!!!!!

And speaking of rock....
Pearl - Key Club - 11PM - Monday Sept 17 - yes, I'm playing guitar - right before Metal Skool. Come get your ass kicked.

Cheers,
Scott

I've been kinda back-and-forth on if I want to see the new/old VH or not. If they're playing classics like those, I think I have been convinced to buy tickets.

And yes, Iron Man looks very much kickass.

Hey Scott, Like you I have waited what seems like a life time for this. Van Halen was what I cut my teeth on, before I found Anthrax and realized you could do everything just as bitchen, just FASTER! I never looked back since then.

I'll try to get out to that show of yours since I live near LA. Best of luck! - CV

FUCK AN 'A, SCOTT!!!! I'm hoping that VAN HALEN will play at the 2nd annual ROCKLAHOMA,
next summer. I'd heard that bands like JUDAS PRIEST, SAXON, APRIL WINE, ACCEPT,
KROKUS, JACKYL, HEAVEN AND HELL, SHOOTING STAR, are gonna be there. It's a 4
day festival down in Pryor, Oklahoma. This last summer, was nothing but "hair metal bands".
I also wanted to thank you for the kick ass show you guys played a the Cottilion Ballroom,
in Wichita, Kansas about a year and a half ago. Brought back some good times. ANTHRAX
is always be in my top 5 list. Forever.
Take care, bro, and hopefully you guys will come out with a new album soon.

MOB RESEARCH [album out now!]

nice one Ian,

yeah I also had the incredible fotune to catch Van Halen rehearsing with full stage production at a large venue in LA last saturday nite - maybe 30-40 people there sat watching near the front - it was mind blowing, the last time I saw VH was at maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto with DLR rocking the mic back in 1981.

Like Ian said, it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up to hear the band sounding so powerful - eddies back to the clean crisp powerful uneffected sound he utilised on the first few albums, none of that chorused and phased shit he did with Van Hagar - sounded brilliant and his playing was spot on. Alex was a monster on drums as always - probably this generations John Bonham - and the rappor between eddie and dave was a pleasure to see - the whole band are enjoying playing that stuff with daves unmistakeable vocals and delivery on it.

My only negative comment that although eddies 18 year old son Wolfgang technically played all the parts on the nail, including most of the incredibly hard and detailed vocal harmonies, he did strike me as being a bit 'rabbit in the headlights' on that big stage. but i guess this is inevitable until he gets a few gigs under his belt. he bearly cracked a smile all nite. Diamond Dave however could not stop grinning - he knows this fucking rocks.

it was also very cool that they played the show set with full bright lighting - white stage light the whole time - so we could clearly see how eddie plays some of those amazing riffs.. he even did the solo 'eruption' 5 min extravaganza which i would assume was unnecessary for a rehearsal, but good practice i suppose..

very amusing to see eddie run over to jam with wolf and see wolf turn red with embarrassment! hey he might be one of the worlds greatest living rock guitar legends but he's still his dad LOL!

i can heartily recommend that everyone - VH fans or not - go check out this tour. I know I will..

Scott I love man, but you just lost some respect from me. I don't give a damn if everyone disagrees with me. Van Halen is just a name of some dudes unless Michael Anthony is playing on that tour. End of story.
I have absolutely nothing against Wolfgang and I'm sure he is more than capable of playing the music if he inherited any musical ability at all from his father.
Anyone who thinks that they will be seeing the true Van Halen just because David Lee is singing is sadly mistaken.
I for one will be boycotting this tour and urge any TRUE fans of the music produced by the legendary band Van Halen and what it stood for to join me. It's time that Eddie get a wake up call to see how much of a jerk he's been and take responsibility for his actions.
Having a substance abuse problem is no excuse for acting like an asshole.

I can't believe they are going to tour. How many buses to they have for Eddies ego these days? I have seen him do the demo's for the new axe and he looked like crap. I wish they would stop trying to cash in and just play the music. To split with Michael Anthony cause he still wanted to be an active musician is crap. It would have been like the guys from GnR hanging around for Axle to decide to sing again. I wont go to the show because it is not VH. If Eddie tried to do a solo tour with standins no one would go because people want to see the entire band. He is a legend but he is still a piece of a BAND. Anyway sorry for the rant. I have respected you Scott for years as a musician but I am tired of the hype over 3/4 of VanHalen.

I don't care how great they sound. I'm not paying $150 to see anyone. I don't know if its the promoters or the acts who set these ticket prices, but who ever it is is out of their freakin mind! The last time these guys played together ticket prices were probably like $12. I'll wait (no pun intended) for the DVD.

Scott,

That's bad ass bro. I've got awesome fukkin' seat for the Washington DC show. Romeo's Delight has got to be one of their best tunes, I love that song along with D.O.A. and Outta Love. I've been drivin' around in the car listening to VH all week. With the occasional ANTHRAX, MACHINE HEAD and KING DIAMOND thrown in for good measure.
