Original Dream Date: May 10, 2007
Dream: This dream was basically a short episode of the TV show 'House' with slight variations. In the show there is some medical mystery that needs to be solved and there is a doctor named Dr. House and his team of experts that try to solve these mysteries, but in this dream, they also have an expert in psychology, psychiatry, and counseling. This dream opens with a mystery. A normal, healthy man for some reason out of blue, just stops talking. The man is for some reason in court.. If they can't figure out what's wrong with the guy by the end of the court case, then it will be bad for the man. The administrator for this crack team of experts offers to have them look at the man and see if they can determine what's wrong. The court agrees to give them some time, so the team begins to investigate.
The dream begins with the expert therapist and I, going to talk to the Administrator. The therapist had spent many hours with the man with no success, but the therapist had found out that Administrator told the court that to give them two clinical hours and thus he couldn't bill the all the extra time he had spent and he is a little upset about this.
The Administrator makes some comment about the therapist's status, and the Therapist says that everything was now current. Therapist had just been reinstated because he missed filing some simple paper work.
The administrator asks him about how he is doing with me (I'm one of the doctors) and he says that he is still working on me. He says that he is trying to break me apart into all the multiple personalities so that he can begin to integrate them together one by one into one person. So far he has broken out and identified two from the rest.
I leave the administrator and the therapist to continue the discussion about the number of billable hours because it doesn't concern me.
Our time expires with out finding a solution so then we go to the courtroom. House says we should at least try asking for a dismissal, which we do, but the judge denies it. The judge then asks the guy's lawyer if he has anything further, and the lawyer tries to talk, but he just starts to stutter, bumble through his words, and can't make out a sentence. Dr. House then asks the guy who can't talk where the ketchup is, and he blurts out loudly and with a demeaning, annoyed tone, "Don't you know where the ketchup is?" Everyone is shocked that the guy is talking. House has figured it out. House says that the lawyer had been sitting by him and working with him for a long time, and that he had to start feeling the effects after awhile.
House then asks the guy's ex-wife, who happens to be in the court room, when the last time you've heard him like that. They had been married for a long time, and had loved him very much, but she filed for a divorce a year or two ago. She said that the last time he was like that was the last straw. "He asked me 'Can't you learn how to close a door?'" said the wife. You could hear the hurt in her voice. "I hated how he made me feel, like I was so stupid."
House then explains that there was an outside factor, a certain chemical, which affected not only the man, with his inability to speak and also his harsh tone when speaking, but also affected those around him that would make them have difficulty making a clear sentence. This had been a problem for a long time, but had been progressively getting worse. Not realizing the outside factor was the problem, it had torn their marriage apart.
