Well, you sold me on it. If only every Guitar Center had a set up where you could do things like that, they would sell a lot more of that type of equiptment.

Richie, you are a true inspiration to people like myself. You really do push the limits of what technology can do. Thank God you didn't become a computer programmer.........well.

I only wish I could get the chance to catch one of your Contakt shows. I bet they are quite amazing with three or four guys on stage all working together to create one giagantic composition.

Keep pushing yourself Richie. You make others wanna push themselves.

Cheers. Jeffrey

you'll switch to ableton fully at some point : )
why use 2 computers when u can use one.. it's just unnecessary..

still, massive respect, and I hope to see your show again soon.

lately, i see more and more "new" djs using things like traktor and until last night i sort of viewed it as "cheating" BUT if used in the ways showed here it is actually just a much more interactive and fun situation for the dj and hopefully if done well it becomes something completely new and in many ways this is the whole point of technology driven art, so yah, now i am going to buy a traktor and start to mess around with it myself, seems like it may even be a good way to produce, sort of taking the ableton set up a bit further .. hmm, let's try it on with both.

Im delighted to see your pushing the vinyless approach.I have been deckless for nearly 3 years now an all those who dissed my set up similar to yours, more budget of course, who said "your only pressing buttons".They can now officially eat their words. Its exciting to see what comes next from native instuments an the likes of the allen & heath teams. Look forward to hear what ye have in store for us at I Love Techno. Mucho Respect mk

Ground Control to Capt. Hawtin.... "Your musical spaceship is right on track!"

That's one of the most informative blogs I've seen yet. I know what you mean about the controversy of using computers to keep things "locked", but I totally agree that it's much more liberating and creative to concentrate on making a set progress in a way that was difficult before.

I use Ableton to produce and mix with, but I'm going to start using Traktor Scratch for DJ sets. It's a little more "hands on" and DJ friendly (at least in a live DJ situation).

Thanks for a wonderful blog,

Voltergeist
