Current mood:  happy

It was a few weeks ago, I blame FFXII but at last here I am.  To start off Pittsburgh Pod Camp, for those of you who are not tech savvy or not around Pittsburgh, Pod Camp is a collection of people who deal with blogging, video blogging, podcasts, and other such endeavors.

My old co-worker and friend Justin headed up the Pod Camp Pittsburgh after he attended a Pod Camp Boston.  He got all the promoters and the people involved, including his cast of STBD, the non-porn.  He did a fantastic job.  He lined up "sessions" that were sections of 30 minutes of people teaching something they know, that has a relation to the subjects at hand.

Sorg, Missy, Chad the Shad, and myself went to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh for a meet and greet. We were one of the first 12 or so there.  Free beer, and free food (I couldn't eat).  It was great, I meet up with some of the cast of STBD I have meet before and others I haven't.  I did however manage to get "Rich from STBD" to say "These are the worst nuts I've ever had in my mouth!" that was all worth it for that.  I also meet Bryan and Tommy from Talkshoe.  Talkshoe is a new company that's providing hosting and software for podcasters to use to reach all audiences.  It was great talking to them.  Also talking to Tommy who traveled all the way from Canada.  He was happy to hear that I was a big fan of Labatt Blue.  He wasn't a huge fan of that beer but happy that it was not an American beer.  Shawn of "Geek Riot" was also there, my boss as well, Cathy and Jason, and even Mulango showed up.  I had a lot of fun bsing with everyone.

I meet up with my crew the Sexy Monday Wrestling Mayhem Show of Epic Proportions.  So we had of course Sorg, Chad the Shad, Doc Remedy, and Lunch Box.  We all meet at Sorgs' and headed to Oakland from there.  Well to be honest Doc Remedy decided to venture on his own, at his own peril.  Meet us there a bit after the opening of the show.  We got some free swag and meet up with the stbd crew.  We then started recording the beginning of the Pod Camp with the mayhem crew displaying their shirts, which were all different styles.  Oh this was all held in the Pittsburgh's Film Makers Guild, a very nice place.  We then congregated inside an auditorium to start things off, Chris Broagen and Justin did the commencement speeches and then we all went off to our respective rooms.

I went to Bryan's session on Talkshoe and using Skype and such.  It was informative, and would have been better had he had internet but alas.  I then re-met up with the Mayhem crew as we joined a green screen session by Alex Lindsy, a great professional in the video/graphic career.  I learned how to set up the green screen and work the lighting and capturing in Final Cut Pro, my main program.  We then sampled the other sessions, I don't remember so much from all of them, I seemed to have not thought about bringing paper and pens but oh well.  We'll just go ahead and cut to lunch. It was a veagen spread of food, bean dip thing, cold noodles, a soup of some sort.  The beans were ok, the cold noodles were really bad in my opinion but it wasn't my taste.  So that kinda answers my long overdue question, should Kyle go Veagen, the answer is a firm, NO!  I chatted it up with Bryan and Tommy again, meet up with Dette and then found the Mayhem crew again.  I then proceeded to help them interview a lot of people in the lunchroom and there abouts.  You have to see the Justin Interview with Sorg and myself, it's just hilarious, Justin informs us on the "Tasting of Pittsburgh"

Basically after that we got the crew together and did the Mayhem session and it was hilarious, and informative on fan interaction, including all the different formats you can use to keep fans involved.  Also they had fan interaction in the forum by having the audience "Whooo" and someone gets a chop.  I was recording it and apparently the only one who Whoo'd so I made sure to pick the right times to do it.  We then went to another Alex Lindsy session, where he told us of click able movies "Not new to me" threw mov's "New to me"  So it was informative and cool.  We then headed home and The crew went back Sunday but I unfortunately had plans so I did not attend Sunday.  So over all it was an extremely great time, perhaps next time I can host a session on Final Cut Pro or something of that nature, or maybe I'll even have my own pod cast.
