Humeur actuelle :mourning/suicidal

Dear friends,

It is with a heavy heart that I share with you the news of my brother's recent passing. He was killed in Iraq by a roadside bomb Nov. 2nd. I am here in NYC and intend to play on. I need to play music now more than ever, and I ask that as many of you as possible, please come down and allow me to have a little joy in my life during this very rough time by sharing music with you. My brother loved music and these shows are for him.  Please share them with all you know in his memory...And also, I am hurting quite badly, any emails, words of encouragement from my friends near and far are so helpful to me right now.

Let there be peace on earth.

Check the calendar for full address and details:

Nov. 7th, The Fire, 412 W. Girard Ave, Philadelphia, PA, Times TBA

Nov. 9th, Parkside Lounge, 317 E. Houston, NY, NY, 11pm

*A Butterfly Lights Beside Us*

A butterfly lights beside us, like a sunbeam...
and for a brief moment it's glory
and beauty belong to our world...
but then it flies on again, and although
we wish it could have stayed,
we are so thankful to have seen it at all.

Reading your message weighed on my heart. Regardless of whatever our brothers put us through - we love em. Your brother's passing is not in vain and I think it's a beautiful tribute to him that you are dedicating your shows to him. Music has always been your outlet - and deep emotions such as this will only bring a deeper and stronger meaning to your craft.

Although I cannot make it to your shows, my prayers are with you and your family and know that you have a fan/ former classmate back home in Dallas thinking of you. Take Care and God Bless

Kirsty,

I am so incredibly sorry to hear about your loss. Your message/bulletin really weighed on my heart when I read it. Wow, until things like this happen, the reality of those overseas who are making the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom just doesn't set it. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers during this hard time, I hope that love and music and the hope for all that is good in this life will keep you going stronog, even now.

We miss you here in Dallas, my friendship is always here for you if you need it!

Love, Sara

Kristy,

My deepest condolences for your loss. Your music is immensely enjoyable to me. I'm going to try to make it to your Parkside Lounge show on the 9th. Would be great to see you and hear you live. If you get a chance, check out the track Airplane Window Song on my profile. It's me, Drew Fleming on vocals and guitar, and Eldridge Goins on drums. Based on your music, I think you will enjoy it. Again, my thoughts are with you in this difficult time.

Best,

Kristi, let me say that you are LOVED by many. People that do not even know you are reaching out to you. I know the feeling you are going through is tearing you up inside. It is times like these that you NEED to use that God given tallant for medication. You are someone that is able to use the music for therapy. Dagonit gal....We ALL LOVE YOU! I'm half tempted to sell my guitar for a plane ticket. We NEED you in this world. Don't ya know that YOU ARE OUR MEDICATION? As you may know, my good friend just died 2 months ago. You need to listen to my song "Dichotomy". I'll be praying for you even more than ever. Your myspace friend/and admirer, mic

Dear Kristy,

I knew your brother Eric at SMU. I was a little sister at PKA and even went out on one "date" with him--- a very odd story there. He was a truly orginal character and I have many happy memories of him and am very sorry to hear of your family's loss. He was too good a guy to be lost to this terrible war.

I am living 30 minutes north of NYC if you need anything call me. (I would come out to your performance but I have 2 small kids and that prevents any late nite trips to the city on a school nite!)

Also let me know any funeral arrangements and I will try to make it.

Hi Kristy,

Kelly here, you probably remember (if you do) me as Whalo. Your brother and I and you went to see Suzanne Vega together. I also was  PKA little sister. Please pass along my condolences to your family. I know what it is like to loose a brother.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family now. We had many 'interesting' experiences with your brother. You know his excentricities better than I. Never a dull moment. There are many Pikes thinking fondly of your brother right now.

Please let me know if you come through DC for any performances. Would love to see what your music has evolved into.

Also, please post memorial/funeral information. Anything I can do to support you right now or in the future would be my pleasure.

Kelly

Kristy,

My heart goes out to you and your family for this tragic loss.  I (now more than ever) will have to seek to find a way to battle corporate america in my attempts to make your next LA Show (if you can get one in the O.C. even better).  As you said, your brother loved music and music has led to two great things in the hearts of the most talented musicians in the world:

1) Healing

2) That amazing hit song that everyone remembers

Many of us whom are priviledged to count you as one of our friends are with you in spirit and if you need a friend, feel free to drop a line.

Kristy - sincerest condolences; have faith in the path that you have been put upon.
kate

The wild swan’s death-hymn took the soul
Of that waste place with joy
Hidden in sorrow: at first to the ear
The warble was low, and full and clear;
And floating about the under-sky,
Prevailing in weakness, the coronach stole
Sometimes afar, and sometimes anear;
But anon her awful jubilant voice,
With a music strange and manifold,
Flow’d forth on a carol free and bold;
As when a mighty people rejoice
With shawms, and with cymbals, and harps of gold,
And the tumult of their acclaim is roll’d
Thro’ the open gates of the city afar,
To the shepherd who watcheth the evening star.
And the creeping mosses and clambering weeds,
And the willow-branches hoar and dank,
And the wavy swell of the soughing reeds,
And the wave-worn horns of the echoing bank,
And the silvery marish-flowers that throng
The desolate creeks and pools among,
Were flooded over with eddying song.

Kristy,

I am so sorry for your loss. Mike Brown is a friend of mine and he told me last night what had happened. Your brother was obviously brave and courageous and believed in the importance of what he was doing. I appreciate his service to all of us- he was and always will be a true hero. There are never enough words to express such a loss. You are courageous yourself- electing in the face of such horrific news to "go on with the show" you knew what you needed to do and dedicated it to your brother. I don't know what your beliefs are , but I would like to believe that he was with you, enjoying every performance. My heartfelt condolences to you and your family. May you come to know peace, acceptance and understanding. Your brother lives on in the lives of all that he knew, and all those who know of him. Please take care of yourself. You, your brother and your family with be in my prayers.

Sincerely,

Kristy,

I was looking for something else when I stumbled on your blog.  Hearing of the recent trajic loss of your brother, I had to stop and drop you a note.  In the same way, I could not imagine losing my sister.  She's so dear to me.

I would be particularly upset since the mission in Iraq is not clear.  There were no ties to Al Qaeda, no weapons of mass distruction, and no ties to Al Qaeda...  The "intelligence" was all created by Bush and his cronies.  (See Downing Street Papers) It has nothing to do with forcing them to be a democracy - they were one before we invaded.  Albeit with a dictator in charge. We're just involved in someone's civil war to gain control over oil.  Really, I'm sorry you lost your brother as a pawn in a scheme for a few people to get rich.  This war comes with the loss of thousands of people like your brother just trying to do their job.

You are right in that your music can help heal our wounds.  I would love to hear some.  Perhaps you can post a video of one of your songs on YouTube and in turn on your MySpace.

Kristi:
I am just now checking by your page, and seeing this blog about your brother. I am so sorry to hear about this. There's nothing like the death of a sibling. Whether we realize it or not, we usually spend more of our life-span with them than with any other single person we know.

So, when they die prematurely, it leaves a big hole. And when they die at war, I am sure it's even worse.

We're supposed to be in a season of peace now...at least that's what the holidays should be....so I'll pray you get a little personal peace in  your on-going grief, and that the we all get a lot more peace in the world too.

My prayers are with you and your family at the holiday time. I have a dear friend in Iraq as well.  I lost my firstborn son almost 7 years ago- he was an infant.  Loss is loss no matter who,how or when. The pain is overpowering now, but know that it will change, it will  never fade ,but it will become bearable and life will be livable once again.  My deepest sympathies to your family and many  blessing and thanks to your brother for his sacrifice and his courage in serving our country.

God Bless you and your family  as you travel this road through grief to healing.

Kristy, I've just learned about your brother in the last couple of days. I'm all too familiar with the feelings you must be going through, and trust that, being a woman of great character, you will come through this as an even stronger and more enlightened person than you were before.

Sometimes it helps me to know that those we have lost are kept alive by our memories, and that they are no longer subject to the pains and sufferings of this life. Peace be upon you...
