Who Gives Kudos:

Saturday, August 18, 2007

Nachtmystium is currently preparing material for our new record, "Assassins: Black Meddle Pt. 1", to be recorded this coming December at Volume Studios with local recording master Sanford Parker (also of the great bands MINSK and BURIED AT SEA).

We're honored to have the ever talented skinsman Tony Laureano joining us for the recording, which will bring a whole new level of intensity to the Nachtmystium sound.  His skills have earned him in positions in legendary bands such as Angelcorpse, Nile, Dimmu Borgir, 1349, Malevolent Creation and many, many others.  Its a great honor to have him involved and we're all very excited to see what he'll bring to the record.  One thing we're sure of is that it will be unlike any previous Nachtmystium record.

We chose the name "Assassins" for numerous reasons...those of you who can see what we're doing with our music, it will make perfect sense to you.  We plan to travel farther off the path of traditional black metal into darkened obscurity and psychedelia in all ways.  This record will be part of a 2 record series that will be referred to as "Black Meddle". (yes, our Pink Floyd worship has reached a new level here...)  These will be the two records we're releasing with Century Media in North America, and Candlelight Records in Europe.

We expect this record to be released in the first quarter of 2008.  Mp3's will be posted upon the albums completion.  Expect nothing less than another profound step for us into the uncharted waters of extreme music.

Sounds like this bitch'll be as mind-altering as the last Dark Funeral wasn't!
Can't fuckin' wait, man.
When you do you decide to a 20 minute version of "Tie-Dyed Princess" by Ides Of March, I'll know you've gone psyche-otic. : )

Wow, really looking forward to this trip furthering the mix of psychedelia and black metal. Loved where you went with Instinct:Decay, and looking forward to where you re going with this. 2 Questions: When is the split with Leviathan coming out and is it also going in the same direction? The song from it is awesome, especially live.

It's a split with Lurker of Chalice now. Wrest apparently has done away with Leviathan.
You can hear a track on Battle Kommand Records. It's badass. I'm amped about this release.

Instinct Decay was groundbreaking and a masterpiece, cant wait to see what you guys come up with as you shatter the stagnant mold of traditional "black metal". the live performance here in Portland next month is GREATLY anticipated.

I hope Laureno has learned that there are more than two drum speeds (fast as fuck and incomprehensible blast) since touring with you guys.

Solecism (shows coming up!!)

Can't wait! But make sure you don't forget all of the psychedelic atmospheric stuff, and make it endless blastbeating... that said, make sure you include some inhumanly fast drum playing too!

Either way, I'm sure it'll be great.
