Participating in Voices of Strength has been quite an experience.

I got involved with the project because Haullie moved to my hometown. We phoned at first, and she offered me the last spot on the documentary. I couldn't say no because Louise of Aphrodite Wounded and Donna of Surviving the Memories also appear in this documentary, and Shannon of Welcome to Barbados was also supposed to participate.

Haullie kept in touch with us participants through email, and occasionally a survivor would also email the rest of us with suggestions. The recording was a little hard...I was embarrassed by my voice initially. By how I would sound, and perhaps by what I had to say.

But I remembered those teenage girls who've emailed me after visiting my site, the ones with years of being abused under their belts and I couldn't not do this for them. So I recorded my story.

The next thing that happened was I visited Haullie at her home! She was awesome. She gave me a little gift, and we discussed everything from significant others screening our movies, to the hard parts of maintaining a survivor site, and much more...she asked me a bit about my story, and we talked about hers.

I am looking forward to seeing what comes of this latest effort!
