We Americans may not agree on abortion or gay marriage or all the things we fuss about, but there are things we do all believe in things like liberty, democracy and rule of law and this government is squeezing me on all those things.

There is no doubt that torturing people is un-American. There is no doubt that unfettered eavesdropping on Americans by the executive branch is un-American. There is no doubt that holding prisoners without due process is un-American.

I don't want to be one of the Democrats like my opponent is one of the Republicans.  I am a Nevadan and an American concerned with what is best for our State and our Country.

After the Power of God, I know that American ideals of Freedom, Justice, Democracy and Free Enterprise are the strongest societal forces in the world. Our own example is spreading them across the globe.

Fiscal conservancy has gone out the window.

I want to replace my opponent who is Washington's voice to Nevada. I want to be Nevada's voice to Washington.

The foundation of our nation is a limited form of government which provides for the maximum freedom of the individual. The rights and freedoms we cherish ourselves must also be provided to our neighbor, and his/her expression of those rights and freedoms must be cherished, too.

Americans share a special common core of values, and Nevadans, with our emphasis on personal freedoms and hospitality hold these values more deeply than most.

On the 1976 Carter campaign: As I traveled the country, listening to strangers, staying the night in supporters' houses, I was struck by how informed, intelligent, and idealistic the people were. It was rare to find anyone who wanted anything from me or my father other than honesty and good government.  That experience left me a changed man, wiser, optimistic about America's future, and ready to rely on the will of the People.
