It's seems odd that the first thing I'd be writing about when it comes to the Chiefs game would be the Broncos D but that is were the discussion should begin. Yes, Larry Johnson had a big day (28 carries for 198 yards & 2 TD's) against the Broncos but if you put aside his gaudy numbers he wasn't really the deciding factor in the game nor was it a Broncos Defensive unit who played well enough to give themselves a chance to win.

It had more to do with 4 turnovers, the bad decisions of Jay Cutler and the Broncos game plan that didn't employ more running plays to give themselves some balance on O.

D will get a bad rap by some but not here

After giving up the 65 yard run (sprung by a Jamie Winborn missed tackle) by Johnson on the second play of the game the Broncos held the Chiefs to a FG. It was a great moral victory all things considered. Then after the Broncos first offensive series were Eddie Royal fumbled the ball away the D once again held them to just a FG. Boss Bailey made a tremendous tackle (He had 8 tackles which lead the team) on Johnson behind the line of scrimmage to keep the game 6-0 Chiefs. Not a bad way to start a game because the Chiefs could have just as easily been up 14-0 early in very unfriendly environment in which the Broncos have a bad history of losing games.

Despite coming out of the gate 3-0 the Broncos Defense had very little to do with it as we all know but yesterday I would argue they fought a good fight and didn't get any help from an offense that was very jittery, unbalanced and turnover prone. The final score was lopsided but the game was much closer than that and the final TD by Johnson was just a meaningless garbage run. Not to take anything away from Johnson or to give to much credit to the Broncos rushing D who still are the worst in the league but they played well enough to give the Broncos a chance to win in the 4th Q. What more could we have asked from this unit knowing what we know about it and what everyone knows about it for that matter?

As any long time Broncos Fan knows Arrowhead Stadium is one of the loudest toughest road games in the NFL. It didn't matter that the Chiefs had lost 12 games in a row; the Chiefs are a different team when they play at home against the Broncos. Just ask Mike Shanahan, he's lost 5 out of the last 6 games at Arrowhead.

Maybe the Chiefs who had lost 12 in a row were not as "bad" a team as everyone had thought.  By the same token maybe just maybe, the Broncos who came in 3-0 were not as "good" as many had thought either.

Cutler played tight and forced the issue

Cutler had been all universe the first 3 games of the season but in this game he seemed nervous, impatient and rattled. I think Jay had convinced himself early that he was going to have to win the game on his own. The game plan sure was set up to put him in that position. I don't understand why the Broncos didn't try to slow this game down, play more of a possession game and run the ball on the Chiefs. As bad as the Broncos D is against the run the Chiefs run D may be worse. I really believe that had Selvin Young been given some more carries early in the game he could have easily shredded the Chiefs D for big yards. Instead Jay just kept airing it out even after it was clear he had lost his groove after the 2 picks.

Whether it was the crowd noise, the pressure to shoulder the offensive or just the bad outcome of several terribly throw balls for INT's, Jay was not on yesterday. Both INT's were bad decisions where the receiver was in heavy traffic or double covered.  He simply tried to force it in when he shouldn't have.

Kudos to:

Champ Bailey and brother Boss Bailey both made big plays on D.

How about Spencer Larson unloading that huge hit on the kick return which sent the headgear flying? Then he was oh so close to recovering the on-side kick.

Nate Webster bull dogged then body slammed a bigger Larry Johnson to the ground on one running play. It was one of the few awesome moments for the D in the game.

Brandon Stokley had 7 catches for 80 yards. Statistically it wasn't his greatest game ever but most of his catches were important ones that kept drives alive.

Kill Shots:

Rookie CB Jack Williams got taken to school 2 times for big yards and once for a TD by Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe.

The Broncos Special Teams Unit still is giving up way to many yards on kick and punt returns.

The Broncos Defensive Line didn't take advantage of an inferior Chiefs OL and getting pressure on second rate bum QB Damon Huard.

After giving Kicker Matt Prater kudos last week he missed an important FG this week that hurt the Broncos which ultimately affected the Broncos strategy in the 4th Q. Did I say I hate Kickers?

The Good News:

Despite this tough loss, the Broncos are still in 1st place, so don't jump off the band wagon yet. The Broncos are off to great start and if the D can improve the Broncos can still be one of the playoff teams at the end of the season.

Thankfully we come back home this week to play Tampa Bay who I think they should be able to beat. After all Brian Griese is their starting QB, how could we let one of our reject QB's come into our house and steal one? NO WAY!

NFL NOTES:

I have to give Brett Favre credit, 6 TD's (Wish he'd of started in my money Fantasy League) in one game is very impressive still as I've said in earlier blogs I'll be rooting against him and the Jets and I don't see this win as a trend for him. More than likely the Jets won't make the playoffs because they just don't have the skilled players on O or D.

I'm so happy the Cowboys got beat by the Redskins. I love that Terrell Owens in the post game press conference opened his mouth up and showed us all again that he still is a narcissistic ego maniac.

How about Kerry Collins and the Titans D are they for real? Can they hold off the Colts and the Jags and win the division? I'd of said hell no at the start of the season but at least for this week you could make the argument they are the best team in the AFC and have a legitimate shot.

Maybe some might say the Buffalo Bills could be the best team in the AFC, with their tough D, great young RB Marshawn Lynch and up and coming QB Trent Edwards.

Matt Millen finally got fired as GM of the Lions. It must suck to be a fan and have had to wade thru all the miserable years that they've faced in Detroit.

Rams Head Coach Scott Linehan got the firing squad too, insert Defensive Coordinator Jim Haslett. The likely result of the change will still be a god awful team that will be just as horrible. Thankfully the Rams won't take another loss this week because it's their bye.

Will Raiders Coach Lane Kiffin be the next to get the axe? Don't you think he wants to be fired and get on with his coaching career else where? The Oakland Raiders, where good Coaches go to die or in Kiffins case hope to survive and live.

Speaking of firings when is Bengals Coach Marvin Lewis day coming? He's lost all control of that team. Don't you love that Chad Johnson aka Ocho Cinco has to eat this crappy 0-4 start? What a distraction this idiot has been for the Bengals huh?

Thanks for the re-cap. The game was not televised here in San Diego. I was stuck on NFL.com watching the game center feed. That is so incredibly frustrating, especially when we are loosing. Everytime I would refresh the page I was saying "Oh Crap what now?" Glad to hear the Bailey Bros did well. ANNNNNDDDD On to next week! :)

Brandy...I live in KY and if it weren't for the NFL ticket, then I would not be able to see but a few games per year. I do not think the Denver Broncos realize the $$ I pay to even watch them play...good or bad. I am pretty sure I could have put one of my children through college by now. It has gotten so expensive...but it is MY one little thing for myself. SO...

I really just don't want to talk about it Jeff...!!! I do not mind a loss if they put it all out on the field and I just do not feel they did...period.

I just had a feeling...I truly did. AT Arrowhead...we rarely do well. I will say that I honestly have NEVER made a cocky prediction that the "Broncos are gonna win!!"..."4-0 baby!" or "We're gonna scalp them!!"...or whatever else some of the fans said during the week!! No matter the team, no matter if in my ♥ I feel they will win-I NEVER say it out loud. It is a "thing" with me. This is not including you with your score predictions...I do not include that in the least...I don't know it is just my personal ju ju I guess. I actually blame the loss on my baby brother who made his prediction on the phone to me the day before and it is a FAMILY RULE that WE do NOT do that because EVERY time he does WE LOSE. SOOOOO....Broncos fans...you can blame the loss, as far as I am concerned, on Chris Thompson who lives in Maryland!! HA!

Great post as usual, I am just disappointed all the way around I guess. I want ONE blow-out for the year...my itty ♥ can not handle games as they have been played up until now!

I know what you mean about making predictions or talking to much trash. It's not always a good idea. I know I predicted a win this week but before the season started I also predicted they could lose (See my off-season blog) this game. Infact I said they could be 2-2 by the 4th week. Thankfully iwe beat the Chargers so we're ahead of the win totla I thouight we might be at by week 5

Cutler has looked to much to Marshall to be the go to guy at times by forcing it in there. I think he just didn't see Sheffler on the INT throw. He had been doing a good job of sharing the love with the WR's but didn't do a good job in this game. I think he got caught up in the emotion of the crowd noise, had the bad start and he just couldn't recover.

Here's my take. The defensive line sucks. There is no penatration. They can't get in the quarterbacks face long enough to disrupt his rhythm. No wonder Gonzalez and Bowe had carrer days. I could through for 400 yards too if nobody bothered me. Dre Bly is overrated, Bowe ate his lunch all day long. Nate Webster is not the answer at middle linebacker. Theonly exception is Champ Bailey. He tackles and does his job. Face it folks, we are in a division that is loaded with high calibre running backs. If we cannot stop the run, we're dead. The offense got tired of carrying the defense. Jay Cutler is entitled to a bad day, we all have them. Where was the running game to take the pressure off of Jay. It was non-exisistant. Special teams also stinks. The were some flashes of good play, but you can't get them the ball on there own 45 yard line to start. With our defense, its a sure sign that they will score because they can't stop anybody. Bronco fans, things must change because everyone now has our number. Slowick has his work cut out for him. Shany needs to start rattling lockers again. Pride is at stake.

well i live in dallas, texas but im SOOOOOO NOT a cowboy fan! BRONCOS ALL THE WAY BABY !!! so...after being at work yesterday, i had to check in every now and then on NFL.com to catch the updates!!! "WHAT THE F*CK" is what i caught myself saying every time the page would refresh!
ok, now i feel that the Broncos are NOTORIOUS to get embarrassed with teams who have a way crappy-ier record than them....hence the Chiefs!!! they always seem to crumble apart or dont even bother showing up half the damn time. now, after watching the NFL network replays.... i was asking where the F*ck was the defense?!?!? SERIOUSLY?!?!?!? they did the same shit when they played against the Saints last week, as far as the running back running straight thru the middle and not even getting touched....... thus scoring or at least getting 30 yards off the play!!! SICK, SICK, SICK !!!! 4 turn-overs dont make it any better!!! alot of my friends are saying the broncos are getting what they deserve since the last 2 games were "handed" to them!
i SOOO would have loved to be that fly on the wall at Dove Valley while Shanahan was re-playing the video and ripping into them! oh well..... guess we need to start looking forward to Tampa!!! hopefully the Broncos will pull their heads outts their ass and play some much needed defense...........and STOP giving up 30 plus points a damn game!!! those kinda mistakes dont take u to the playoffs ladies and gentlemen!!!!

Sorry you live in Dallas, it's the armpit of the South.

No problem in your bashing the D but in the Chiefs game they can't be blamed as much for the loss as 4 turnovers. I don't care how good or bad your D is giving the ball away 4 times usually means a loss.

You can't turn the ball over 4 times and expect to win... that just doesn't happen. this loss was going to happen, didn't think it would happen with KC but our defense needs a serious wake up call, because it does take a defense to win games, not just offense. One of the other sports organizations in town knows this--The Denver Nuggets can't get past the 1st round of playoffs despite thier 1 offense, same goes for the Broncos, it does suck that we lost but we didn't have any defense at all. To me, only the offensive side of the team showed up, and they didn't display their best. Cutler still has work to be done, so do our recievers. We can't gloat on a 3-0 record and watch it go to crap with a loss that should've been a win.

Our defense isn't there and if we want to improve our record from last year we need a defense, it truly is that easy and this team can do it !!!

Hats off to Farve for still setting records, Congrats to my other favorite team, The Redskins on a rival win against The Cowboys, Zorn looks good so far as a head coach, My weekend wasn't completely ruined with the Broncos loss, because a few of my other favorites won.

Onto Tampa Bay, that game should be a win for us, that is if our defense shows up, no more nail-biter games, I don't know if I can handle it again this year.

People want to dog pile on the D and the do suck no one is really denying that but when any team turns it over 4 times you’d be hard pressed to win a game.

I think it’s cool that Zorn is like the new kid on the block in the coaching ranks. What an exciting player he was. He might be the leader the Redskins have been looking for.

I’ve been rooting for the Bills in the AFC East, they have a good young team. If the Broncos falter in the playoffs I’d root for them.

Arrowhead Stadium is **NEVER** an easy place for any opponent to play, regardless of records. We won't score 30+ points in every game, and when you combine a lack of defense with shooting yourself in the foot in the red zone, well, there's going to be problems. Speaking of shooting yourself in the foot, Brian Griese has thrown 6 interceptions in the past two games. I hope that trend continues. The one positive with the KC game is Matt Prater hitting that 56-yard field goal right before halftime. We do miss Jason Elam, but WOW, that guy does have a strong leg.

Arrowhead has been a house of horrors for the Broncos to be sure. We can be happy that we have a 2-1 record in the first go around in the division. I see the Broncos beating the Chiefs at home, ripping the Raiders up a second time at home and maybe just maybe getting a win in San Diego too. If that scenario follows we are in the playoffs, how far we go if the D continues to play this lousy once in will be the million dollar question.

Griese giveth and taketh away, one week he’s up, the next down. If we lose this game with him as the starter I’ll be furious.

As I said the D is a problem but the 30 points allowed in this game were not easily won considering the turnovers. The D held the Chiefs to 2 FG's in the 1st Q., basically they gave up one big running play and a few short dink and dunk passes.

Corporate homo’s aside the architectural design of the Investco stadium is far more to blame for the lack of a home field advantage. I well say however that just listing to the home games on TV so far this season, I’d swear the crowd noise has been louder. I miss the Old Mile High; it was just a tough of road game for teams as Arrowhead, maybe the toughest in the NFL.

Just want to say that we are still in first place. Arrowhead is a difficult place to go and play well. It's still early and we could be 1-3 so I'll take what we have earned. D line looks better, but the secondary "BLY" needs to figure something out. He has yet to make me a fan of his. Spencer Larson is the man... Did you see the hit he laid on the kick return? Expect great things from him, and Jack Williams. I know he was taken to school this weekend, but I feel more confident in his play than Bly... Going to the game next week from Cali. Haven't been back in 8 years. GO BRONCOS!!!

We could easily be 1-3. In my preseason blog I predicted losses against the Chiefs at Arrowhead, a loss to San Diego at home and that the Broncos/Saints game would be a coin flip. I was only wrong about the Chargers game because of the blown Referee call. I got caught up in all the glamour of the Broncos new found O when I knew they’d have trouble in KC.

Have a fun time at the game, I’m jealous, it’s been far too long since I’ve seen a Broncos game in person.

i was surprised to see champ play alot of run support and LJ had a lot of big runs. but what hurt us the most was in the 3rd Q cutler through back to bakc picks even after our D got a fumble. D played good damaun hurad had less then 200 yrds. we got tampa and the jags next two weeks in denver and i tihnk we can beat both. adn we got a bye week, week 8. so i tihnk we can go 6-2 heading into the by with at least a share of the division. plus i get to see me first denver game live week 11 when we play the falcons. woo.

Champ did play well in run support unfortunately that’s not really what we want to pay him to do. The DL must do a better job clogging the running lanes at the line of scrimmage and then our LB’s must finish it off. Last week we ranked 15th in Rushing D, believe it or not even with the 198 yards Johnson had we moved to 14th this week. So while we are just so-so against the run we are not the worst in the league.

Our Passing D is a much different story we are giving up an average of 276 yards a game that’s 31st in league. The Lions are 32. What an embarrassing stat for Champ and Bly who are supposed to be the best “shut down corners” in the league. It’s not all their fault as noted the DL is providing zip in pressure in the 3-4 defense and our small LB’s who play okay at the second level of the running have stunk in any blitz packages they have been asked to help with. The result is the DB’s are running all over the field having to cover guys for an eternity. I don’t care how good Champ is, if a QB gets that kind of time, even a slug like Huard can get the ball down the field.

That’s cool that you get to see game 11, I haven’t been to Invesco yet.

Is it just me or am i the only one who sees that we need to get some god dam pressure on the QB. It makes no sense they complete pass after pass and no changes are made, so if they are going to complete all these passes why not throw some blitzes at them. Does anyone out there see this because its never really brought up!!!

The Broncos has tried to use a 3-4 which doesn't seem to make much sense because whoever they put in line-up isn’t creating any havoc at the line of scrimmage in either the running or passing game. In the 3-4 the Broncos have brought Winborn in as the 4th LB and he’s one of the worst tacklers on the team. Bailey and Webster haven’t really been a factor in any blitz packages they’ve tried. Webster is to damn small to be playing in the middle. So in combination with a dead DL (no matter who’s in the lineup) and a small LB corps the Broncos just can’t get any pressure.

Even in a 4-3 it hasn’t work. Nothing has worked.

first thing i thought when watching the game was, "Is Cutler sick or something?" he just didn't seem to be in the right train of thought. therefore, they never could really get anything going offensively. i honestly, went into the game expecting the Broncos to lose. they almost always lose in KC and with KC losing 12 straight, i knew they were going to play this game like it was the Super Bowl. Broncos really shouldn't have gotten caught off guard and i totally think that some of the younger offensive players were over looking this game and it will be a tough lesson learned. and hopefully they will learn it. but i agree that they should be able to get past Tampa Bay this week. I have absolutely no worries about Griese.

I just think Cutler got caught up in beleving in his first 3 weeks of his press clippings and that he could do it on his own and that he could just make it happen by forcing the issue. He seemed tight and I think the crowd noise affected him. The game plan on O should have centered more around a possession type running game because the Cheifs are one of the worst teams against the run in the league.

Intoxicted by the early success of the passing game Shanahan and Bates forgot they have a good running game too, if given enough time to develop.

Mile High Mojoe, I kept waiting for the real Broncos to show up. The Chiefs had the mojo. They had to hustle, the desire, the spark. I thought the Broncos would answer. That they would bust a run or two. Your specific points on the game were good observations. The defense stopped Larry Johnson for small gains most times. See? As to whether or not Selvin Young would've had a better day had Jay Cutler also been on his best game, it's almost like, well, yeah! Sorry, Mile High Mojoe, that game just left me cold. Nothing like Brian Griese as the ticket for what ails ya. That, and keeping the football in rightful Bronco hands most of the time.

You take away the 65 yard run and the garbage TD one could argue the Broncos Rush D did enough to keep the Broncos in the game until the 4th Q.

If a Griese led team can came into Denver and win it’s time for the Broncos to start packing their bags because they’ll be home for the holidays.

if the chiefs had an offense they would have blown us out! i still think the defense is horrible it all started when we lost al wilson the defense hasnt been the same since. we need an identity on D but we dont have one. we got so much talent and skilled players and we cant do anything because we have no one who will step up and be a voice to the defense. champ DJ boss dre every one on defense has no energy no loudness and no leadership skills. whos directing traffic? no one. cutler felt he had to carry the team since the defense cant compete at all. our test was a very weak offense and we got ran out.

What the hell is wrong with our receivers not holding on to the ball correctly? they need a reality check. 2 fumbles by wide recievers is very uncalled for not to mention cutler pushing it with those consecutive int drives. some one needs to pull in the reins. no one is showing any kind of leadership on this team not even cutler. i expected better from the captains and i felt there was nothing coming from them no energy nothing but a void space.

whats going on shanymanny come on!

Anyone can see that the D is terrible; I think we’re all unanimous on that important reality. As far as talent goes I don’t know that I’d agree, if we had talented players they’d be making plays, which really hasn’t happened so far. Without DJ in the lineup the Broncos are 1-3. Maybe he’s not the kind of emotional leader Wilson was but today that’s all we have. Having a loud mouth doesn’t always make a good leader, Wilson was a great player but he’s gone, for now DJ carries the mantle. We need a leader on the DL to step up and start giving us some game. This part of the Broncos D has been the Achilles heel of the Broncos since the last Super Bowl win. Until we have a threat of a pass rush we won’t make it to the Big Show.

I’d disagree about your energy comment; the energy was there just no execution. As for the drop balls Marshall should have held on to his but frankly I’m shocked that Royal hasn’t had more fumbles. See my pass blog about guys with small hands. Small hands guys fumble, Royal has played very well so far. I give him kudos, take away the one fumble and you can’t speak of many more mistakes he’s made.

I don't even know where to begin on this one.

Are you in the huddles, on the sideline, or in the locker room?
I'm gonna guess no.
So how do you know there's no leadership?
That's isn't something that you can spot while watching TV.
You can't hear what they say to each other.
There's no way to possibly say that the defense has no leadership.
It's impossible to determine accurately if they do or not.

Maybe they're just running bad defensive schemes???

I hope it is a scheme issue, I'd love that, but the Broncos have tried numerous Defensive Coordinators and schemes and only have one appearance in the AFC Championship game since 1999. We've had some "talent" I guess you could say but for whatever reason, the biggest gap has been in the pass rushing department.

It's still early hopefully someone will step up to take the leadership role.

tampa actually has a defense and that griese had a 100+ rating one year in denver the best by a broncos qb so dont even try and say they suck. the broncos should win though but the way the team played this week vs the chiefs we might be looking at another defeat if we dont try and at least step up. again our pass rush is a pathetic confligration of losers who think they have big names! LMFAO!!

Oh boy. Ummm where do i start, MoJoe, I agree that it definitely wasnt squarely on the defense. Play calling was a tad off in this one. Too many passes. You cant blame Jay for that. That comes from Bates. My question is, if Shanny is 3-(now) 11 in arrowhead, and we keep constantly getting burned on special teams play especially tackling the returner ( Dante Hall, I still remember screaming at the TV), and we keep getting eaten up by the running attack of KC, then why do they go in there year after year with the same game plan, start with the run in the first quarter, and then just go to the passing game and force it untill we get beat by turnovers. Every year, be it cutler, plummer, brister, griese, they've all gotten torn up by KC defense cos we dont go with the run, and STAY with it. Prime example, 3rd and forever... Michael Pittman goes on a Zag for like 23 yards, just manhandling thier linebackers... blowing right past em, and then they dont run him again till like 10 minutes later? I agree with the run by committee deal and all, but if youre gonna have 3 RB's, then USE EM. Jay, he's really coming into his own, and dont think defenses arent keying in on that factor. Why they passed so many times, is beyond me. And they were almost all dropbacks or gun, what happened to run then PA after they bite or over pursue??? Scheff wide open in the middle, he cant be wide open unless you press the issue of running the ball, make them bring that 7 or 8th man to help the run, PA out of it, mismatch Tony Scheff or Daniel Graham on a linebacker, THEN throw the bullet, but not when they (safties and LB's) are dropping into coverage. another think, WTF is with the Zone!?!? Get Dre Bly and Marlon McRee doubled up on D. Bowe. I didnt see Huard throwing to anyone else much. Other than that, Dewayne Robertson wasnt in there that game and i really do feel that it allowed the KC o-line to relax a lil without his intensity, also we got no pressure on Huard, he had all day... Lots of things mulling around in my head, but this one sticks out the most, 1. You cannot win a game in which you turn over the ball that many times, and 2. Jay, Buddy. LEAD your recievers. Stop throwing behind them. Thats about it. Jeez, i hated for that to happen, just please i hope Griese gets dealt with. Lets keep up the energy. We're gonna need it. The next 3 weeks are not gonna be easy....

Later for now,

Joe

Halston, I really like your comments they are all dead on, maybe the best so far, great post.

The special teams unit continues to be the canker sore of the Broncos.

I’m glad you’re on the same page as me when it comes to the game plan. We should have stayed with the run. I’m absolutely convinced we could have won this game had we employed it early and often.

The 3-4 isn’t working, the 4-3 isn’t working, the nickel isn’t working, the dime isn’t working, and every DL on the Broncos roster isn’t working. DJ is like playing D all by himself.

The next 3 weeks will make or break our playoff chances for sure.

Denver goes in there with the same game plan because Shanahan, and the rest of the world besides you apparently knows that losses from last year, and years before don't matter.
You have to focus on your opponent NOW. Denver was playing the '08 Chiefs on Sunday, not last year's Chiefs, or the Chiefs a few years ago when Dante Hall was some kind of god.

Stick with the run???
Since when does Denver have a running game this year? Did I miss something???
Continuing to run the ball would've destroyed any chance of winning the game.
Selvin Young isn't an every-down back, and Michael Pittman is a few long runs away from collapsing on the field of cardiac arrest.
The Broncos have ZERO running backs capable of producing the kind of yards they need to win while relying on the ground game.
Shanahan knows this, that's why he's relied ..ler, and the receivers, to stretch the ball down the field, to produce the points they need.

How can you have successful PA's if you have no running game?
Ummm...you can't. You can't fool defenses into over-pursuing the run if your running game doesn't pose any threat.
That is why Denver didn't run more PA's on Sunday.
No running game=No luck running play action passes.

Why they passed so many times???
Hmm...well, Cutler is averaging around 40 passes a game this season. He's second in passing yards, and third in passing TD's. That, and, like I explained before, Denver has NOOOO running game, he's required to put the ball in the air to win games.
It worked against Oakland, San Diego and New Orleans. He had one bad game against KC...I don't think its anything to worry about.
There's always next week.

Wow, I couldn’t disagree with you more on the running game comments. The Chiefs Rush D ranks near the bottom of the league, maybe we didn’t watch the same game because the Broncos were running the ball effectively and should have continued to try to control the game on the ground and slow the game down.

The Broncos don’t have the greatest RB’s in the league to be sure but in each game so far without it they couldn’t have won these games. Yes Cutler had ripped up D’s in the first 3 games but the threat of a good running game has made that possible.

I think Young has been under utilized; the running back by committee thing sucks IMO. Hall doesn’t bring that much to the table in size or speed. Young should be made the feature RB with Pittman used in passing situations.

Your offensive philosophy will doom the Broncos in a 16 game season. We can’t rely solely on Jay to carry the Broncos; we must continue to work the running game and I believe it will work if given the opportunity.

I agree with you completely, like I usually do.
The defense definitely wasn't the reason Denver lost.
It's pretty simple...any team is going to lose if they turn the ball over 4 times, and their opponent turns it over once. (Or did they?) Either way...it doesn't matter.
Look at the AFC Championship game against the Steelers in the '05 season. Denver really had a shot at winning that game. 13-3 Division Champs playing the wild-card Steelers. But, as I'm sure everyone remembers, Jake Plummer single-handedly threw (get it?) the game away. He also fumbled the game away too.
To me, it doesn't matter if you're the 16-0 New England Patriots, or the 1-15 Miami Dolphins, you have to hold on to the ball to have ANY chance of winning games. Denver didn't do that on Sunday, so they didn't win.
Simple.

Hypothetically speaking had the Cutler who’s playing today been playing in the AFC Championship Game against the Steelers we’d have a 3rd Championship in Denver bottom line. Plummer was the only thing stopping that team from winning the whole enchilada.

Well, this game was never a gimme because whenever we play the chiefs, most of the time, they put on a show. So i wasn' suprised that the chiefs came to play. We never could stop Larry Johnson, so that's nothing new. Yes, the turnovers killed us the most, but every team has a bad game or two. We not going to win all 16 games, but we can still win our division. Our D still continue to be terrible and if we don't fix it, we won't make it to the playoffs. All we can to is hope that they correct their mistakes.
