	B. Lamb	Oh - I love Everything But the Girl. That happens to me when I try to surf too.. I suck at surfin. Boogey boarding is more my speed. Nervous energy is good in a way I think if you can come to terms with and channel that energy into your performance. That's what gives a performance that special spark, if you ask me, that sense of the real, and the human.. is that nervous energy, exactly.. I'm not the super expert, here, I do sort of know what I'm saying (got this from a class that I took in college, that is..) But - I have been up on stage a few times (Sound of Music, King & I, um, I played keyboard in a cover band in H.S., etc.) so I do know a little bit about this stuff. (admittedly not a whole lot, but) I think I learned this in speech class or something but just try to CHANNEL YOUR NERVOUS ENERGY. :) Use it. It's a tool and stuff they said. (Anyway.. that's what totally helped me to hear when I was nervous and had stage fright one time..) Learn, that is to say, to appreciate that awful 'feeling of butterflies' or whatever (like you wanna ralph if you are like me).. because it's you know.. good for the performance. Now I know that that sounds crazed, but it's not I swear. It's true. Just look at what happens when a performer loses that 'edge' and no longer has that performance anxiety at all any more.. for example.. think happens to comedians who 'make it' and then suddenly go from being a laugh riot to being a total bore. (Not many are like Mork there who can consistently deliver for years and years, despite fame and fortune..) It's sad. (like Jim Carrey, sorry J.) They are a 'hit' and they get their own show (or series of movies, etc.) and all of that and all of a sudden they lose their funny.. (not forever in Carrey's case I hope sp?) It's like the problems in their life was what made them so funny (comedians are tortured souls though. . the ones I've met anyway are not that funny in real life, they are super serious, even depressive types.. oddly enough) and you will see why having that 'nervous' energy is so critical to a performance. (And maybe hopefully will feel a little better about those awful butterflies next time) Just harness that stuff, Meiko. It's totally a good thing to have that nervousness before a show. Means you still got it. Believe it or not. :) And you do.. Oh boy-o. You have 'got it' in spades. You are so terrific. Yr. Fan, luv, Billy   Posted by B.
