Well…. Talk about hitting the ground running…08's been MAD so far, and its not been 3 weeks yet!
Had a great time at the Worldwide Awards at Cargo on the 5th Jan …. It was my birthday the night before, so me and the Mrs went down a day early and had a top night out with, Gilles, Simon and Tristan from Brownswood, Steve Reid (Baaad drummer!), Jay Electronica, and Simbad and we bumped into a few more over in Islington at Kay Suzuki's night…. Orin (who also had a b'day that night) and Jonny Miller. Around midnight we headed over to Plastic People for FWD>> which is always a pleasure. Me, Simbad and Jay Electronica were SKYANKIN!! Heavyweight tunes from when we got in there….. one vocal dubstep tune I heard someone play, by DION I was told, NEED IT NEED IT NEED IT!!!
The Party the next night was heavy. I walked in to Tawiah performing live with her band, which was ELECTRIC!.... Cargo was packed to the rafters. Gutted I missed Steve Reid trio, heard he was quality. Benga and Coki tested the sound system to the max
, I'm really feeling their recent bits. Christian Prommer put on a great show, very tight… My favourite bit was the last live performance by Shuyo Okino from Kyoto Jazz Massive, and his band from Japan, along with Earl Zinger, Vanessa Freeman, Valerie Etienne and another vocalist (also AMAZING!!)who's name I missed. They TORE IT UP!! From about 1am, me and Phlash played back to back, 3 tunes each, through to about 4.30am. We had a mad laugh and I think most of the people there had a top one.
So, holidays out of the way, it was back to the lab last week, and already we've notched up some amount of tracks. Jay Electronica made a big effort to make it up to Manc last week, BIG RESPECT bruv!! We recorded a couple of tracks which will be on the next couple of albums coming out of the camp. He seriously tore it up, and gotta say he's one of the coolest cats I've met in a good while.
This week, however, has been all about an album project I'm working on with Broke N English and Domu. Its really taken shape in the last few days, with a couple of tracks being nailed last night. One take bizznizz with these guys. Domu sent up some dutty beats for the album yesterday, so vibes are good here at Biasonics HQ!
Watch out for the official announcement of our new monthly club residency in Manchester in March 08, and I'll be droppin Zedcast No.7 this week….
Warm vibes to one and all!!
