Who Gives Kudos:

Tuesday, January 16, 2007
Last night a party was thrown by Global Cool; a non profit organization who's love and enthusiasm for planet earth is rapidly gaining attention around the biosphere. Global Cool threw an after-party for the Golden Globe awards, bringing in KT Kunstall- a beautiful female vocalist from Scotland. KT has a strong voice and an uplifting spirit. The kind of girl you'd want for a girlfriend. Etty and I stayed on after her set and chatted with her about music, and the weather (She said her fingers felt frozen as she played guitar out in the open evening.) The location of the party was on the site of L.A's  first "Green" condominium development project.

This lovely evening under stars took everyone off-guard. The temperature dropped to near freezing temps. It was record breaking for California . Along with the  historic "lows" this week came word that commercial orange, and avocado crops were being destroyed from the bitter frost; driving home the point further that the effects of global warming are severe and destructive. Global Cool for their part- pledged to plant a tree for every person that attended the party- rather than give away "Gift bags" which is traditionally done at these Hollywood soirees.  Sasha Baron Cohen walked around with trophy in hand, like a little kid with a new toy. Pink sat with us as we warmed ourselves with martinis.

There is a movement afoot dear readers. Do not be fooled if media tries to downplay it. They will end up chasing after it. This evening reminded me of the days when I first played music in the streets of Hollywood.

There was a handful of punk kids that came to an outdoor show we had set up on Hollywood Blvd. We played in the parking-lot of a hot dog stand called "Oke Dogs". There was room to dance and be messy and loud.  We allowed our spirits to fly, we were courting a scene . As musicians;  our concepts may have seemed "Mock-able." to those in the high towers, but out on the streets the energy was magnetizing.  Even though it started small- it flipped the music industry onto it's ear.

Last night I twinkled like I did back then.

I felt the same potential.

I met Al Gore's son- Al. A young blood of big Al, who has been so instrumental in effecting this change that is at hand. He was there with us, moving to the music just like those kids in the parking lot.  Etty and I moved up to the front and sang out with KT as she performed her encore - "I want you Back"  by The Jackson 5. I felt she was singing about the world; how out of control our relationship is with mother nature, and we want her to "Give us one more chance!".  The crowd was loosened, like my punk-rock counterparts.

We swung and danced into each other. I felt like I had bumped into them years ago." Didn't you used to have a piercing in your nose?"

Fear not dear Solutionists; the future is upon us.

It is ripe for the taking. A change of design is under construction.

Michael

Perry, I hope you are right and people are going to start treating the Earth with more respect. The days of lip service and empty promises from our leaders must end. I try to do my part and to teach my Son respect for our planet. If everyone would just decide enough is enough and commit to doing the right things in their every day life the world would be a better happier place. Much respect to you for bringing attention to these important issues.

Latter Mike

The Future is Upon Us

Never a better spoken analogy

The future is indeed upon us yet callous & ficticious pillars have been provided to THOSE UNABLE TO BEAR THE TRUE WEIGHT OF TRUTH.
True belief in ghosts when truth is we will be crushed by our inability to judeg this weight

And yes its true many people are awake and their vessels are being refilled. The thin masks placed over the faces of the subjectagatorial mass  is wearing out and giving way to an easy and pure acceptance of undeniable real existence which is all we really have to consume in our time

The most important thing in the world is that the artists should take over the planet because they are the only ones who can truly make anything happen....

…sitting here, watching a "He-Man, Masters of the Universe" DVD with my 5-year-old grandson. In between episodes, a "Save Our Planet" message from He-Man pops up. It's about three minutes of encouragement for all kids to treat the planet with love and respect. I think these episodes date back to the mid-80s. Just goes to show, great advice bears repeating.

Good to see you doin' your thang, Perry...

Love, Peace & Happiness...
GORE for president!
