Coachella was the best this year. The giant artwork on the grounds got more and more dazzling as the night came on. Spiders and geodesic domes that glow in the dark- mushroom type pods you can stand inside; and swing rides made out of hammocks.

Satellite Party took the Friday main stage at 4:00. This was the first time Coachella went to three days (with a Rage Against The Machine set looming on the Sunday. Promoters wondered if there would be issues- there wasn't any.)

The weather rose and dove. We got lucky as the breeze up and made most forget how sweltering the heat could be out there. The sun was LOOKING AROUND FOR FRESH VICTIMS as we hit the stage. Our set began as predicted. I told everyone to expect 50 people in a field- and if it got better- than we would all feel really happy. So the set began with 55 people in the field. Rossana Arquette was filming the set for Coachella. As I walked to the mike- she said to me tell them! Tell them you are about to play! You are Perry Farrell!" I would let the music do the talking. This was an exercise in humility. As we still don't have a record out- I felt fortunate to be invited again- as this was my 8th performance at Coachella. The show went 50 minutes- and by the end of it; we had 20 thousand people stuck together watching us. This start reminded me of the early days- when I would peek out from behind the back stage curtain and see- not quite enough people to feel very special. I would try and put my mind on other things- like the set list- but I would return to the curtain line- peeking out again. Most often- the crowd would fill in when the music started, and I would begin to charm them. This was much different however; THE TRAFFIC was at a dead stop just beyond the field. We had to abandon our car on the side of the road and make a run for it! We arrived minutes before set time and there was no curtain to hide behind, or room to dress in. No sound check- no monitor man; no costume change- is everyone ready? We needed a drink--- no time for that either. What a good bunch I am with though. They hit the stage like young golden eagles; soaring in the desert breeze...

We had set off the 2007 Coachella...

i'm and old skool fan, from way back in the day, i was at coachella... and i MISSED you! you can't possibly imagine my fury. i had no idea you had a new project, and even heard it from afar on the field, thinking 'huh, satellite party sounds really good over there', but somehow got distracted by another act or whatev, and never got close enough to see what i was missing. i could shoot myself in the head, sheesh. so ASHAMED!!!

pretty please with a carton of sugar on top come thru LA again soon, and i promise not to make the same foolish mistake again. i'm already amazed by the songs you have posted here, and look forward to the album. incredible work as always, old friend.

To All Perry Fans: i just want to share a quick Perry story.

I was lucky enough to meet this fool on the street one time, after a DJ Peretz set he did at the Velvet in St. Louis several years ago. It was pouring down rain that night, and i waited an hour and a 1/2 or so, to the point where there were only like 4 of us left (all strangers to each other) when he came out. All dudes, no girls :P And on top of that, 2 of the other 3 guys did nothing but badger him over and over for a free CD or a sample of his new work, and would not let up.

Needless to say, i was quite annoyed with those 2, but wasn't about to let them ruin it for me... and neither was Perry. He stood there in the rain with us for at least 10-15 minutes, answering all of our questions (even those from the 2 broken records), giving us all equal attention as best he could, taking sincere interest in everything we had to say. By the time he finally left, he was soaked just like we were, and i'll never forget finally getting to meet one of my favorite idols of all time, and finding out what an honorable, exquisite person he is when meeting him face to face.

Perry: I thank you for that experience, and don't worry man, i don't have a crush on you, or anything like that, i'm just a sincere fan who will always appreciate your work, and will always be influenced by your honor and pride.

ciao for now,

pete

It would annoy the hell metal jock/Ozzfest beer dudes element bigstyle....the rest of us would cause the tent to levitate, make the stars align and take the party to the cosmos!

I'm getting excited now, woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Kevin

size=2>You guys kicked ASS! I was with two other friends who were well aware they had no choice but to come watch Satellite Party with me. Both were happy I dragged them to watch the performance. It was hot as hell out there and as soon as a good band (such as yourselves) began, you didn't even realize your body temp was a billion and six. Oh and thanks a bunch for treating the crowd to Stop! I couldn't contain myself. I was smiling like an idiot through the whole thing. I can't believe the way you had to scurry on stage and still rocked to the fullest.

I cannot wait to get my mitts on your album. I NEED it. Hope to catch a performance around LA sometime soon.
