It boiled down to my wife or my aunt who's going to die sooner rather than later...what an idiot, also besides Ultimate Spider-man when was the last time he has been good. I mean JMS really managed to screw up Spidey

In JMS's defense, he really didn't want to do ONE MORE DAY the way it came out. Joe Q wanted the ending we got.
We can probably blame him for the Spider Totem, but not this (Joe Q wanted Gwen Stacey's kid to be Osborn's. JMS wanted her to be Peter's. Which is worse? Really, I don't know).
At least JMS is rocking THOR

AGREED. This whole thing reeks of "Superboy Punch". Ok, Peter and MJ never got married, I'm sure there's no butterfly effect here. Oh that's right, nevermind, Mephisto's magic can just explain everything away. There's a reason Straczynski didn't even want his name attached to the last 2 issues of "OMD".

Spiderman and MJ made a deal with the devil to save Aunt May's life. The devil "took away" their marriage and love for each other with MAGIC.

I wish I was kidding. But hopefully the worst of that crap is over now and they can tell good stories again.

That aint Peter Parker in the Spidey Mask. Also, Having missed the last issue of the One More Day series (come on, it sold out in my comic store in less than half a day. Un-freakin'-believable). All I have to go by is what I read. So Parker doesn't know he was ACTUALLY once married to MJ. I take it the REST of the Marvel Universe doesn't either, bar MJ? And his Unmasking...just vanished?!? Also...Harry's back from the dead?!? Damn, they weren't lying when they said they were changing the Status Quo for Spidey. I just hope it doesn't F*ck up the Marvel Continuity too much!

Also, as we ALL know...Mary Jane will eventually be back. They won't completely drop his legacy with MJ forever. It'll be interesting to see how they bring her back into the picture though.

And go Peter! Mackin' on the Ms. Girls Gone Wild girl.

One final question before I go. If NOBODY remembers that Spider-man is Peter Parker, how the hell do they explain his role in Civil War, let alone the rest of the situations that Spider-man has been in with MJ? I mean, you've heard of the butterfly affect, right? Change one small thing back then and you change EVERYTHING. Well, I wouldn't call this a SMALL change. It doesn't fit in!!!

<confused face>

Okay, I'm going to be patient now and wait to see if they appease my appetite for answers.
No Kudos just yet.

Seems like Marvel is going back with Parker living with aunt May except that he is no longer a teenager. It would be a bit odd if Marvel rehashes those teenage years of spiderman in future stories since Peter Parker is a grown @$$ man. If this story doesn't pans well and we see MJ and Parker is a couple again, I wonder what other odd-ball schemes Joe Q will pull to try to make Peter single again. I mean, they tried killin off MJ, but that didn't work.

I have actually read some of the interviews before and if I recall, Marvel has "killed off" MJ at one point by a plane crash, (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Jane_Watson and http://www.marvel.com/universe/Spider-Man_(Peter_Parker) that Peter Parker believed that MJ died) but fans were upset of the outcome, so they brough her back. that is why I don't think Joe Q wants to attempt to kill off MJ again since they tried that and it didn't panned out with the readers.

It is pretty much how they killed off Aunt May, but brought her back by explaining that it was an actress disguised as May who was killed.

You obviously didn't read the last segment of the final OMD issue.

They used to go out, but things between Peter and MJ are "icy." Plus, she used to be with Harry too, so that'd explain why all 3 of them are in the picture.

BAM.

I don't think the ends justified the means at all, but I sure do love these ends.

If read in and of it self, I would give it a 7.5 out of 10 and would add it to my pull list (items LCS preorders and holds for customers). Better than average art and story mixed with some groaner lines ("you're on my five" and "Macking on miss Girls Gone Wild"). Having read the preceding One More Day that leads up to this story, the preview is not good enough to make me cross the fan boy picket lines of the Amazing Boycott. The story that got us to this point was so bad and out of character that I dropped it from my pull list.

For those that are picking up the book for the first time or haven't picked it up since the mid 80's, this will be a good read. If your were into Spider-Man any time after he got married, your going to have a lot of questions. Acording to the Editor In Chief of Marvel comics the answer boils down to "It's magic, we don't have to explain it." Until continuity is explained without riping off the Simpsons, I'm no longer buying Amazing Spider-Man.

But it's soooo much fun to make my nose all brown and messy by praising Joe for this BND stuff! So I'm gonna say I LOVE IT and CAN'T WAIT FOR MORE!!! With extra exclamation marks!!!

ok. here's what I don't get! How can Marvel change Spidey's life just like that without screwing up all of continuity with everything Spidey has ever been involved in? I know they took away the revealing his identity thing, but does that mean that he never joined the New Avengers or fought in the Civil War, or maybe because of this the Civil War never happened! I'm not gonna pass judgement on this until I give it a shot, but it just seems like Marvel tried something with Spidey, it didn't work and now they are giving us this "it never happened" story!! i hate to say it but that's what I think is gonna happen with the skrull invasion!! Oh, and by the way, What happens with Spidey and the Avengers as of now, seeing as how they are smack dap in the middle of a whole bunch of crap in the Marvel U right now?

Why does Marvel keep doing this? I just started buying Spidey again 'cause MJ was back and now...yuck. Why are the only new ideas in the House of Ideas lame?

Except for Captain America. Now that's just weird. Rucka can kill off Steve Rogers and bring someone else in as Cap and I'M BUYING IT!?! Not just buying it but LOVING it!?! Maybe it's because I never really liked Cap that much but I've always loved Spidey (WITH MJ).

I'll just stop buying again until she comes back. But, man, I wish they wouldn't keep screwing with continuityand the Marvel Universe. This is almost as tedious as Infinite Last Call Crisis (Again). Marvel used to be cool because they stuck close to reality instead of inventing city names and presidents. Now they're worse than DC in that regard.

Ugh. At least this leaves me with more money to buy the Hellboy spinoffs.

WTF? Seriously? This is the big payoff from the trainwreck that was One More Day? It reads like a sitcom clipshow! I can practically hear the canned laughter after that painfully forced "Parker luck!" line. I expect better from Slott, to be honest, even given the shoddy set-up.

What a terrible regression for Peter - no job, stuck living in a shoddy area of New York in his high school bedroom, his friends having to find him an apartment (because he's too much of a 'lovable loser' to find one himself), his Spider-Man reputation is in tatters, Jonah's raging about him being a menace... The best thing in his life seems to be Undead May's frickin' wheatcakes! And surely they've become an injoke of their own, given the mentions they've gotten in both parts of Brand New Day that we've seen so far. They must be like crack if Peter would sell his wife and unborn daughter to the Devil for them...

This is an appalling direction for Marvel to take with Spider-Man, it really is. It's 2008, not 1978. Can I have the last 30 years of continuity back please?

it's weird for me to read these preview pages because I remember the Roger Stern era before they got married and had a huge affinity for those stories growing up. This feels a lot like that and i cannot say I really mind it but at the same time, the bulk of my maturity has been with Peter and MJ married so i can understand some of the posts calling Pete a cheater! I look at it like this, we get to have classic style Spidy stories updated and drawn by modern artists with modern coloring technique and if the sales lag or if the fans speak out enough (i.e. don't buy the books) it can always be reversed with the big red devil popping back up and making everything back to the way it was. Who knows? This could be everything the title needed in the long run or it could be a risky idea that was brave but foolish. Either way we're getting good looking Spidy stories.

Anyway with that said I hate how the whole "OMD" ended (deal with the devil?come on JoeQ!) but this preview makes me want to try the first few issues to see how the series will run. I know I know why don't you just read Ulimate Spiderman? Ulitmate Spidey is good but it never seems to match the semi-realism of the real Spidey. Like any good series I will vote with my dollars.

I wasn't going to buy this book because I think it would be terrible to send the message to Marvel that OMD was a good idea (as it was not), but this just seals the deal.

As I was actually interested in BND and Dan Slott's run in particular, but oh man... that first page just reeks of trying to imitate Stan Lee and say, "Hey look at the book now! It's cool and hip!". About the only thing missing is a quote that says, "Hey True Believers, I'm not Stan Lee but I'm trying to be!".

And I also find it ironic that the very first page they drill into reader's heads the old 'Parker Luck'. Except now that he made a deal with the devil, that should be Satanic Luck, because whoever got anything good when dealing with the devil?

Aw well, at least some readers will enjoy it...

As pretty much a life long fan of Spidey (since around 1970), I am absolutely stoked by the events of "One More Day". Congrats to Q for having the balls to do it. The Spider-verse was spinning way out of control. I was never happy with JMS's "cosmic spider-man destiny" stuff and Pete's "evolution" to some sort of "super spider" with stingers. Sheesh! It just wasn't Spider-Man. And Spidey revealing his ID to the world during Civil War was a terrible idea. Also I was never a fan of Pete and MJ getting married. I just hope "Brand New Day" is real and not some "bubble universe" created by Mephisto and at some point Pete will be snapped back to his post Civil War situation mess. But I am curious to see how Q and Marvel explains this in regard to the post Civil War Marvel Universe.

For you present day fans of Spider-Man (and even some of you angry older readers), we silver and bronze age readers went thru the same thing when Pete's original girlfriend Gwen Stacy was killed. We didn't like it but we accepted it and moved on. We loved Gwen but the bottom line we were Spider-Man fans. The book after all is called "Spider-Man", not "Gwen Stacy" and not "Mary Jane". At least in "Brand New Day" MJ is still around and who knows what the future holds. Give it a chance.
