In other words: "We may not have got the West End right, but we'll get it right THIS time."
This city never learns from its mistakes.

The irony, honestly: like myself, a lot of people want to be downtown so THEY DON'T HAVE TO DRIVE TO/FROM THE CLUBS/MUSIC VENUES! If they remove that----who the hell wants to be down there? I certainly don't in that scenario. I can stay in Mesquite and live amongst sta-prest nondescript buildings and yuppie fops....I don't need to move to do that.

Hate to be fatalistic, but....this city just doesn't get 'it', doesn't want to get 'it', and I don't think ever will.

To quote the Austin Lounge Lizards: "All cities have soul, but Dallas must have been at the bank when they passed it around".

Since when does the government decide which businesses are viable? I thought that in a market driven economy, if there was a call for a business (a legal business venture) that it should be hands off. It is EXTREMELY disturbing that the City Council is managing the businesses in Deep Ellum. This reminds me of the toll road for the Trinity River Park... if there's a way to replace fun with money, Dallas will find it.

They're "trying to turn Deep Ellum into a chic urban neighborhood"?
I'll never go back if they do.
Bastards!

Unworthy, yet LOVED

"When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I wasn't a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out."

-Martin Niemoller

STOP THE MADNESS AND TAKE UP THE CAUSE! We must stand together for the sake of the Deep Ellum that we know and love. (BTW, Scott...NICELY done. Kudos)
