The Zeitgeist is upon us! Thanks to all that were able to attend the show at the 930 Club in Washington D.C. to celebrate the release of our new album. The event was spectacular! We had an amazing show of support... but somehow an entire crowd of "non-supporters" were in attendance as well.

The Smashing Pumpkins rolled up in style to their record release show yesterday at the 9:30 Nightclub in Washington DC. Secret service agents, a barbershop quartet and over 300 "picketing" fans lined up to show their support and rallied as the Smashing Pumpkins arrived in two 1970's vintage cars to celebrate the highly anticipated release of Zeitgeist. The red, white and blue event continued as the "Virginia Ham Barbershop Quartet" welcomed the Smashing Pumpkins to the 9:30 stage with a traditional barbershop song. The Pumpkins played more than three hours, (including three encores) of songs, both old and new leaving no one disappointed!

Here are some photos that illustrate the evening:

"Angry" fans protest the release of Zeitgeist outside the 9:30 Nightclub.

"Protesters" await the arrival of their favorite political candidates.

The Virginia Ham barbershop quartet entertains the crowd and welcomes The Smashing Pumpkins with some traditional tunes.
These guys actually OPENED for Sp later in the evening!

Billy Corgan arrives in style in a 1970s vintage vehicle.

Bass player Ginger Reyes steps out in style.

Billy Corgan takes part in the protest.

Protest signs after the event.

they probably weren't ruly protesting against the pumpkins

the could have been fans who weren't able to get tickets and noticed that the people in line had "political sings" so made their own signs as a joke

This is awesome! I think it is brilliant that you had everyone hold protest signs. It sucks that the crowd didn't embrace the idea more and get really into it. It could have resulted in some very interesting photos. They all just look like confused animals. I'm glad the pumpkins continue to have a good sense of humor. I think it is great you guys can poke fun at yourselves. The photo of Corgan holding the anti-pumpkins sign is priceless. I love it.

I'm glad to have my pumpkins back.

Now come play Kansas!

As was stated high up in the comments, the protest was staged. They took the first 200 hundred people in line and created a mock electionary with protesters and supporters. It was pretty funny to watch. Their were girls in skimpy clothing giving out SP pins as soon as you got inside, and one of the "secret service" agents was trying to get one of their numbers.

The protesters of NO SP had to be a joke...One of the chicas had a camera and I think one of the might have on a shirt with the statue of liberty (maybe a Zeitgeist fan..lol). God why didn't they do it here in Minneapolis-I would've a great candidate to debate those guys with the crapped out signs...dammit Billy...You would have loved it....You really would have!!!! You probably would've had to drag my ass into the concert cause I would have ran my mouth too much to them..oh the fun that was missed

Hahaha! I love how everyone thinks the protesters were real. Such irony because they took the first 8 people in line and gave them those songs. So everyone is hating the biggest fans at the show. I love it!

That has to be the dumbest, and/or saddest thing I've ever seen.

What happened to you guys just making music, good music, and not relying on silly publicity stunts?

You guys are (or apparently WERE) better than this...

In all the furore about the 'album', you're forgetting the most important thing:

LOOK AT GINGER REYES. SHE IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL.

We would have paid hundreds of pounds (that's twice as many in dollars, by the way) to see her in those leather trousers in person. Ginger, if you're reading this, we still would.

They are totally parodying the modern political system. It's brilliant!!! I LOVE the Billy and Jimmy's sense of humor. God, I want to eat them ;P

I also LOVE the way they always try to confuse their fans just to see what we do. It's hillarious.

Keep smiling and laughing guys <3
