Elizabeth and I are so grateful for your prayers and wishes. Your support means a great deal to us during this difficult time.

As you may have heard, yesterday we found out that Elizabeth's breast cancer is back, but confined mainly to her bones. Although this isn't the news we wanted to hear, we are very optimistic. Having been through many struggles together in the past, we know that the key is to keep your head up, keep moving and be strong. At that's exactly what we intend to do.

Elizabeth and I have been married for nearly 30 years and we will be in this every step of the way together. We will keep a positive attitude and always look for the silver lining—that's what we do.

Although the cancer is no longer curable, it is treatable, and many patients in similar circumstances have lived full, normal lives. We expect nothing less for Elizabeth. She expects to do all the things next week that she did last week.

Our campaign goes on and it goes on strongly. We are so proud of the campaign we have run—a campaign based on ideas and reaching out to people. This campaign is not about me or Elizabeth—it's about all the people we have met these past few years and people like them all across America—people struggling with poverty; people worried about feeding and clothing their kids; people facing hardships overseas.

Both of us are committed to this campaign. We're committed to this cause and we're committed to changing this country we love so much.

Thank you again for your support and for standing with us.

John Edwards

P.S.-- Many of you have asked how to contact our family and the campaign. You can click here to send us a note. Quite a few supporters and friends have already e-mailed and blogged such kind messages. Thank you so much.

In spite of my great love and command of the English vocabulary, I simply cannot find the words to express my admiration for your family. That you would continue to place public service as such a high priority is nothing less than inspiring. I have grown so dejected by the level of hostility already being expressed by some candidates and their staffs that I find myself longing for an Alaskan hideway in which to bury my head and forget the acrimony.

Your family reminds me that lofty goals are not achieved by throwing in the towel, but rather by staying the course even if it requires a few zigs and zags along the way. The important issue is to remain moving ahead.

My thoughts and sometimes desperate prayers will be with you all. I admire and respect the love and respect you have for each other and will strive to keep positve thoughts flowing your way.

Someone asked me the other day why I have decided to support you so early on in the race. My answer was because you and your family seem like an average family, facing the same issues as the rest of us. Both you and Elizabeth seemed so strong and determined to get through this together. I have nothing but the highest regards for both of you.

As your personal struggle now becomes a very public one. My prayers go out to you. Though you have learned courage throughout your previous struggles with family health. You have a unique view of the struggles Americans face everyday. It is time for a change in our country and lets pray under your leadership the health care that is available to your family, will be available to all Americans.

While we are deeply saddened by Elizabeth's cancer, we have witnessed what a stong woman she is.  I'm selfishly very happy that you will be moving forward with your campaign.  At the moment, I couldn't put together a candidate that I feel more passionate about supporting in his bid for the White House.  That said, my family will always come first to me, and I know where your priorities lie.  God bless and we wish you all the best in upcoming months.

My family's thoughts and prayers go out to your family.  My husband, last fall, at 36 years old, was diagnoised with pancreatic cancer, and today, he is completely fine.  You would never know he had surgery in December to remove a massive tumor.  Your news is eye-opening to me, knowing that it's possible for his to return as well.

Thank you for your continued courage and honesty.  You two and your family are incredible - God bless each of you.  Take care of yourselves.
