..>..> ..> | | I have prayed many times that the world would recognize the rights of Indigenous Peoples. I knew that the US & Canada and of coarse Australia, who have done to the Aborigines what the US & Canada have done to Natives, would vote no. The big surprise to me was that Mexico, with their horrible treatment of Indigenous People there, wasn't the 5th country voting against the UN resolution for Indigenous rights. Another amazing thing to me is that even the countries who decimated the Native populations on the Caribbean Islands voted for it. The world is changing. And the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand had better catch up. Their votes showed them to be the same old Manifest Destiny Nations that decimated populations that were once as large as they are now in most areas and larger in some. The USA had millions of Indigenous People that now no longer exist. In the state of Georgia alone there were millions of people from hundreds of Nations, that no longer exist. One day maybe the world will say there was a holocaust in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Central America, South America, the Caribbean, etc....... on and on and on............. Nations that have never been told about how immense that it actually was, who were genocided with at least equal fervor as Adolph Hitler, by terrorists from across the Atlantic Ocean, will know the truth. Many Indigenous Peoples ancestors wait for the time when their sacrifices will be brought to light. Maybe some day the world will honor the brave men and women who fought terrorists to their land with all their hearts. But, since diseases had weakened them and they were out gunned by a technology of Barbarians who had greater fire power technology, millions died. The Barbarians were not better fighters. They just had better technology and were very good at lying and manipulating (And they still are). But they couldn't manipulate the rest of the world at this time for the UN vote because George W. Bush has alienated the rest of the world towards the USA with his aggression and John Wayne Movie type ethics. Somewhere, the last straw for America fell. And this straw was as heavy as a straw has ever been. We shall see its repercussions for generations. And its effects may be the bell tolling for the little bit of Democracy that was in America. The very thing that Jefferson feared is happening right now. Jefferson feared that one elite group would gain control and take over. He even said that there should be revolutions at certain intervals because of his fears. But now the rest of America will soon feel what it means to be second and third class citizens. Natives have felt this for generations. When my dad moved to Georgia in the 1950s to the place that offered him work, my mother was afraid of the racism here. And while I was in the Marines in the late 60s and early 70s they moved on to Florida to a job dad got as a repairman. But I got married and stayed here when I got out. I have never gotten used to the attitude of some folks here. I tolerate their rebel flags as their heritage. But I understand how the people of African descent feel about what they call the flag of hate. The USA has lived in a fantasy world of being this great bastion of freedom while enslaving blacks, and degrading to second and third class citizens many other races. They enslaved Natives also as they took their lands and murdered them. I have seen so many people get all bent out of shape when we try to talk about the truth. "God Bless The USA" has become the "home team" slogan for an entire group that calls themselves "Patriotic." How can the Creator bless people who have nothing to do with the Creator, which they show they have nothing to do with the Creator, by their actions? Slogans like "we support our troops" have become like a super advertising agencies best campaign ad. If you try to save the troops by getting them out of Iraq, they say you're not supporting the troops and you're not a Patriotic American. But all the flag waving with contrived slogans isn't fooling the rest of the world. More than half the people that we have as members of Save The Sacred Sites are from other countries. But you know what, we also have Liberals and Conservatives on this website. Why? Because we talk straight here. You can say what you want as long as it is respectful. Does that tell you something? It tells me something. Even the Liberal and Conservative average citizens are fed up with loosing freedoms and being fed slogans to compensate for their losses. The one that I hate the most is "politically correct." That has been used to get away with more unsavory attitudes than any other slogan. Slogans don't get it anymore. Things are heading down a path that could end up in another civil war or revolution. Uh oh he said the "R" word. Now he is a marked man. I got news for you. I'm only the messenger trying to find a peaceful way. But there just doesn't seem to be one that I can see. With George Bush & Company's "let 'em eat cake" attitude toward the rest of America, I don't see any other outcome. And if the new president turns out to be not much better than Bush, I can guarantee you it's on the way. Good Night. | ..> Dave
