Shonen Knife is in Portland now.  Our North American tour is going well.
In an hour and a half, we'll be on stage.
Tomorrow is a travel day and the day after tomorrow, we'll play in San Francisco.
Come to our show and let's rock if you are around the city.

Hi Naoko!

Saw the show in Portland last night. Shonen Knife was in top form and ROCKED the house! Saw you in Bellingham and Seattle too, equally great shows. Great song selections at each show, although I would have prefered Shonen Knife play ALL the songs from ALL of your albums and ALL the singles, too.....

BTW, at the Bellingham show, I talked with many people there that were at the Seattle and Vancouver shows and hadn't heard Shonen Knife before and HAD to see you again. My young nephew (who also had not heard of Shonen Knife before the show) could not believe the massive powerful sound that Shonen Knife puts out live. He's now a BIG fan.
 
The currrent lineup with Ritsko and Etsuko play all songs fearlessly and with much energy.

Ritsko singing "Johnny Johnny Johnny" and "Devil House" were excellent versions of the older Michie songs, and I am really looking forward to hearing a lot more from her. She is a GREAT addition to Shonen Knife. 

Etsuko was (as usual!!) a rocket on drums. The sped up ending of BBQ Party with her part on drums will become part of rock legend. She is just incredible.

And as for you Naoko, on guitar, it doesn't get any better. You are an "old friend" that always gives my face a smile. Love the tone you bring to lead guitar, and your songwriting is nonpareil. You ARE Rock Legend.

You still have a long way to travel on your current road trip across the US. I'm reminded of the old Bob Wills song: "Miles and Miles Of Texas". You might come to appreciate the lyrics.   

Enjoy the rest of the tour as much as we enjoy you. And PLEASE come back soon to tour Portland, the Pacific Northwest, and the US again as soon as you can. You are making many new friends as well as making old friends VERY HAPPY!

Mucho arigato (as we say in the US )!

I was at the Portland show and it is still reverberating inside me! I hadn't seen you live since the original band, long ago, at the Troubador in L.A. and was blown out of my socks by the new line-up. You were powerful, both visually and sonically. Some boast of a "wall of sound", but yours is the entire castle, with tall towers, turrets and crenelated battlements; all made of the most complexly patterned, highly polished marble.
I've been a fan since your first album and this latest show really fanned the flames of my admiration for you.
Maybe, someday, you could an album of live recordings. Doug Fir has amazing sound and acoustics. I hope you come back there soon. I told all my friends in L.A. to go to the Echo, or they would be missing out on a grand experience.
Anyway, I was the old man with the white beard (it was black when I saw you last) and you were very kind to make all those little creature drawings with your autographs. I tried to praise you, but you don't understand, I guess. Your music says it all. The satisfyingly long set demonstrates your appreciation of we who love you. Thank you, Naoko, for your songs and perseverance!! 
On the long drive home, all I could do was eat some banana chips and mutter, "Johnny, Johnny, Johnny."
